gameex fails to load

I'm on xp sp2 with all updates applied and an arcadevga card installed. I enabled the arcadevga setting in the setup menu. Here is my log file. Has anyone seen it fail at this point before?

I had that happen when my drivers for the AVGA card were not correctly installed. You have to install the ones from the Ultimarc CD. The ones XP installs by default will get you a display but they don't work properly with the card for anything else.

The screen looks fine. The windows drivers make everything look like crap so I'm certain I have the cd ones installed.

Funny, when I had the windows radeon drivers installed XP blue-screened. I absolutely had to use the ultimarc drivers and install them from safe mode as I recall

Have you tried setting the resolution to a proper ArcadeVGA resolution? In other words 640 x 288?

Simply turning on the ArcadeVGA setting should not affect anything big at all or cause a crash when one was not happening at all. It really only comes into affect when you launch a MAME game, it does not affect GameEx in any other way.

GameEx ArcadeVGA usage really changes when you make the resolution 640 X 288 rather than the ArcadeVGA settings.

Are you sure nothing else has changed?

They did that with my 7000 based card but the new 9250 based card didn't blue screen. just gave me a vanilla 640X480 16 color screen.
