Mame rom names?

Sorry if this has been asked before but after routing around i cant find any help.

Simply my Mame games are shown as there mame zip name rather than its proper name EG

"aliensyn" rather than "Alien Syndrome".

How can I set this up so the games are named correctly?

Do you have MAME setup as an emulator or did you set it up through the MAME settings? In other words did you navigate through the following screens to set up MAME (in the Setup Wizard)

Emulator Selection > Emulator Setup > Advanced Emulator Setup

Or did you navigate through these screens

Setup MAME > MAME Settings

If you setup MAME as an emulator you’ll need to manually specify a map file. If you went through the MAME setup process, but still see the actual ROM names displayed in GameEx, you may have a different problem in which case it would be helpful to look at your GameEx config (and maybe even your GameEx log).
