So, I just got GameEx and I understand that though the emulators, I can map all of the keys. But there are a few fan games out there that I like and have a locked controller map. Before I had GameEx, I used joystick2mouse to create profiles so these games would run with my controllers. I would like to load these games from GameEx as well.

My question is, can I get GameEx to change the controller scheme without having to leave the program? Before I would have to change the profile manually before I loaded said fan game.

Hi and Welcome to the forums Chaos.Tiki!

This is definitely possible from within GameEx, using the Advanced Config Editor for the applicable system/game you’re running. Here are some pretty good instructions on how to do just that (Note that those instructions detail the 'Game Pad Exit' functionality whereas you'll be more interested in the 'Joy Mapping' tab; either way the process is more or less the same).

Naturally there are other key-mapping solutions available which also fit the bill, but as you point out those profiles need to be loaded separately from the emulator (typically in some form of “Launch Before” command) whereas GameEx can load an Advanced Config 'in the background' so to speak.

It should work, but based on your comments you may need to use the Mouse Mapping feature rather than the Key Mapping feature. I think it should be possible, but I've never used that feature personally. Regardless, the steps to get everything setup should be very similar to those mentioned above.

I don't really need anything reguarding the mouse just yet. Joystick2mouse is just a program i use to get my controllers to read as keyboards.

So I have tried the above and it only seems to make the left and right work, but not any of the buttons. The game in particular uses the arrows and the X C keys.

The game is "Normal Super Mario Bros 3" and the controller is the KO Fight stick. Tho at the end of the month I will have the X-arcade tankstick.
