This is very confusing. I recently updated to the recent GameEX, and it worked fine. Then I hadn't updated mame32 in a while, so I updated that. I got the new exe. and overwrote the old one.

After doing this, GameEX would no longer load my roms. The roms show up in the list and everything, just that when I go to play them, the screen goes black for a couple seconds, then reverts back to the GameEx screen.

I tried mame32 versions 100 and 103, the exe name is exactly the same, path is the same. Both did the same thing, didn't work. I put the 95 version (which is what I was using) back in there, then I could load the games again.

For whatever reason, GameEx is refusing to load any mame32 version other than the 95 version I've been using.

I'm very confused. What happened since the .95 version that would cause it to be incompatible with GameEX? I've done some searches on this and haven't found anything. These newer versions run fine by themselves, same as the .95 version does. Configuration is the same. They just don't run on gameEx.

Why won't GameEx work with any newer versions of mame32? Very frustrating. I would really like to use the new 103 mame32, but it means I can't use GameEX, which is a major bummer.

Is there something simple that I might be forgetting to do? I've tried everything I can think of. Or is this maybe a common problem with everybody?

Thanks.

Yes its likely something simple, and latest mame versions do work.

You need to change the mame command line in GameEx advanced MAME config and remove the skip and bypass settings text. They were removed from MAME.

Not sure if I just did exactly what you mentioned, but the same idea, at least.

I went into the gameExconfig.exe, then to the mame launch settings, then on the top box where there was a bunch of stuff written, I deleted part of that line that said "skip_disclaimer".

That seemed to fix it.

Thanks for the help and fast reply.
