celly Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Here's whats up. There is a few of my emulators that keep showing the same .avi snap on my emulators list or none at all. This is from the list, not after you select an emulator and you get to the games list. My Sega 32X video snaps are .mp4 except for one game (Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV) that's an .avi. If I scroll over any other emulator, it shows a snap of a game that changes every few seconds. 32X stays the same snap no matter what and its the same .avi of that same Romance of the Three Kingdoms game. It never changes. What's really wierd is that my Taito Type X2 video snaps are all .mp4 except for one game also but, from the emulator selection it shows no snap at all. Not even the 1 .avi that I have! It makes no sense to me. I know its a very minor detail but its a bit frustrating as I can't seem to figure it out. I've checked and double triple checked all emulator settings and in and out of the theme (Draco's Space Invaders) and I can't seem to fix it. Even deleting the cache files didn't do it. Before it gets asked, all videos display after selecting the emulator themselves. This is only from the emulator selection menu.
fRequEnCy Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Are the issues you're having due to the change of how snaps and vids are done? Before they were combined. With a recent release, they are now separated into their own categories (Image Snap Path, Video Snap Path). If that's not the issue then I'm sorry for the misunderstanding.
Tom Speirs Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 ITs because it searches for AVIs first. Try removing or renaming the AVI.
celly Posted December 1, 2011 Author Posted December 1, 2011 Freq, I've always had all my artwork in separate folders. I did triple check those options weren't used for those emulators.Tom, I will give that a try and see what happens. Will GameEx look for any other media format in the future or .avi is set in stone?
Tom Speirs Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 It does look for mp4 and flv. Just looks for avi first.
celly Posted December 1, 2011 Author Posted December 1, 2011 Gotcha, and thanks.EDIT: Still no joy. Pulled the roms, .avi for the roms and deleted cache files. Now it doesn't show that god awful game video or anything at all. I can see the system icon on the left and a blank square on the right where it would normally display a video.
celly Posted December 1, 2011 Author Posted December 1, 2011 Tom it even does it for an emulator I have 1 game for, Radikal Bikers. I've tried the video snap as an .avi AND as a .mp4 and from the selection menu it doesn't show.
celly Posted December 2, 2011 Author Posted December 2, 2011 (edited) I'll change it and see if I'm still getting the same result.Too odd. With a changed theme, 32X now displays a preview snap while ones that had them, don't. I have no idea how this is happening. I'll keep messing with it until I figure it out. Tom Speirs Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 I cant see anything wrong. Basically GameEx scans for AVIs firsst. If it only finds 1 it will just show that 1 video. If it does not find any it will search for FLV then MP4. Once if finds one or more it will show them. It does not mix and match the file types. Just what it finds first.
Tom Speirs Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Try the attached and let me know if any better.GameEx.7z
Tom Speirs Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 (edited) Cool. Will be in the next release. Edited September 30, 2012 by Draco1962 This thread is now closed. If the problem re-occurs, please start a new thread.
