I searched the forum but could not find anything about saving.

Two different emulators I am using Zsnes and FCEU. When I run them through gameex and finish playing I hit the back button on my remote to exit and the games exit but don't save.

Is there a way to set something in the config to save on exit or key stroke on exit?

In FCEU it just F5 to save, but in Zsnes I believe it asks for confirmation.

Has anyone else had issue with this?

Also "My Games" does not show up in my MCE start page. Any way to fix that?

Using version 5.33

ps - Great program, will be donating

Check out using an advanced emulator config for FCEU, you should be able to send F5 on exit. By default gameex is ending the process, thus its not saving.

By using an advanced emu config you can tell it to send certain key strokes when the back button is pressed.

I realise its not to user friendly to set up the configs, but have a go and post if you need more help.

Does anyone have the advanced config's for fceu and zsnes that I could take a look at or know the settings to set?

Would a send keys on exit be handy in the emulator section? F5 for fceu and F2 for zsnes seem to work for me (provided my F Lock key is on).

Also how can I add My Games to the MCE startup page. I chose this option but it did not show up. Can I manually add it in the registry or somewhere else?

Even if I could find the setting to save on exit in the emulator, wouldn't killing the process prevent a "normal exit"?

Anybody else figure out how to save on exit or have the same issue?

anybody?

tom can you add the send keys before exit to save game progress?

thanks

Hi, I thought I said this, but you can send keys when the emu exits by using an advanced emulator config file. At least you should be able to, no?

Look at the example Zsnes V2.

What do you mean by "look at the example Zsnes V2" . Where? Is this in the emulator or on the website. Not sure what you mean?

If the emulator process is being killed, how does the emulator know to save on exit? Not sure if that would work, but wouldn't mind seeing it in action. Usually if you kill a process from another application it will not do things like save on exit because it is a unexpected exit.

For each emultor config there is an option to specify an advanced emulator config file. Look at your emulator config in the GameEx configuration file and the advanced config setting. ZSnes V2 is an example included with GameEx.

Edit this file (in the config), and look at the keys to send on exit. If set GameEx will simply send these keys to the emulator, INSTEAD of killing the process. By default for ZSNES it sends Q. I am guessing you can modify this to also save state before quitting.

HOW TO SHOW 'My Games' on MCE Start Page:

Windows Media Center has a set amount of places for extra programs on the start page.

You need to choose one of the programs on the start page to remove in order for Gameex to appear.

Chances are you have some plugins installed, like mce customizer or my movies etc. which are using the alotted menu slot. In my case it was "HP Image Zone" and "HP Tunes" i removed.

Once you know which one you want to remove from the start page:

Hover over the title (highlighted green) & right click; you should have the option to "remove" which should make "my games" appear.

P.S. the program which you have removed should still appear & function from the "More Programs" tab.

Thanks amos, figured that was the case, I have My Movies and maybe one or two others ones.

I only have advanced config for project64 and virtual pinball. Can you post the zsnes advanced config?
