I've just sent a mail out to everyone I have listed who signed up for Beta testing. If you did not get it and you signed up and meet the requirements in the pinned topic, please let me know.

Thanks.

Tom.

Tom

I am doing some upgrades to cabinet and home theater and I wanted to know if the gameex TV support is still moving forward?

The reason I am asking is that I plan to build/buy a new pc for my home theater with a Hauppauge pvr-500. The specs on it say that it is only compatible with MCE 2005 and you have stated that you need testers with Win XP, if this is still the case I will hang on to my old\current (Hauppauge pvr-150) system after I replace it with the new one.

have you had a look at http://forums.dvbowners.com/

they have a fantastic free tv viewer product called digitalwatch (accepts most dvb-t tuner card that are bda compliant.) that is being updated all the time, and is one of the easietst/best tv viewing applications out there, any chance of talking with them and implimenting this into gameex? or as a module...

I have a 4 different dntv pci tuner cards that I can do some testing if you wish ( mostly will be on a dntv Live mini pci, as the other tuners are actively recording stuff for me atm).

scheduling is done with the free webscheduler app also from that site, accepts most dvb-t tuner card that are bda compliant.

cheers, stevo.

Just sent an email regarding the beta testing, I hope it isn't too late :(

I can't wait for this to be implemented into a later version of GameEx. Exciting stuff!

would it be possible for gameex to support composite input this would allow gameex to play freeview/sky digital /camcorder /ps2 etc etc

all you would need is a scart cable to composite and a composite sound to 3.5" jack cable and use either line in or Mic jack for sound

most tv cards have a composite input port on them

just an idea

Is it still in development?

I mean, the thread was started over a year ago ^^"

A work in progress report would be nice, because I want to buy a TV card when GameEx will support TV.

So if there is any progress (wip news, screenshots, whatever), it would be nice to hear from it.

Just to be sure this feature is still alive. :)

Its not been cancelled, but I dont think I'm going to keep the Beta test private. Ill likely do a public Beta.

My main issue with TV is its nothing new anymore, and its something that is never going to be better than Media Center in a million years, so I'm not too motivated about spending a year of my life on this. Most of the other PVR software has been wiped out by MS, and with MS forcing pc suppliers to use Vista its only going to get worse.

I do have code that timeshifts and records on XP Pro SP2 using analog AV input. I could release that into GameEx, but then Im concerned people will just want more from it, and for now its XP PRO SP2 only. A TV guide cannot be done worldwide legally and without costing, and my advice to anyone who wants to completely "replace" there cable box in the living room is use media center. Its good and after all GameEx is also an MCE plugin, and also a launcher so should also be able to launch any other PVR software.

This is not negative, just realistic.

What do you all think??

Well I'd say release what you got...as for people wanting more out of it...your right...I already do and I haven't even played with it yet. ;)

I have to agree with Tom. I think this feature would more than likely appeal to people with a htpc setup (can't imagine anyone wanting to watch/record tv on their arcade cab) in which case mce can already do it (i think - don't have it !).

While I don't really have any interest in TV for my cabinet, I have been considering incorporating my PS2 into it and was looking for options to integrate this.

either some form of switch for the monitor and a PS2 to VGA adapter or perhaps a TV tuner card.

Has anyone done this?

you can link the ps2 to a composite input on a tv card and then the ps2 will be displayed on the pc monitor. Then launch the program via gameex

I have a device called the aver tv genie which is a box you plug into your monitor that has a remote control and lets you watch tv on your monitor. It has inputs on the back for hooking up vcrs or consoles and such. I use this on my cab for my PS2. I don't think they still make this device as I bought it back in 96 or 97 but you may find something similar on ebay.

Try looking at the X2VGA2 or do a google search for PS2 to VGA transcoder and see what results you get.

Hi Tom,

I would like to be part of the TV beta test, as I have MCE, it would be nice to have everything all in one place rather than moving from one 10" front end to another....

I have sent my specs of my my PC to you btw...

I think Tom killed the TV support work a couple months back. If you read the thread it basically states that Vista does everything he wanted to do natively, so there's no reason to reinvent the wheel...

Must've missed that bit :(

Shouldn't read forums late at night

Dear Tom!

Is the TV support cancelled finally?

There is a new SOFTWARE MainConcept MPEG-2 encoder for ANY tuner support in MCE2005.

It is being distributed with Compro (comprousa.com) remote control, VideoMate K200.

Also, is it possible to add an online-TV support, just like Radio in GameEx?

Tom killed the project since the built in support provided with Vista is apparently far superior to anything he would have built (his words, not mine). There's no reason to build an inferior product just to have a check mark...
