No sound

Hoping someone can help me out.

I'm having trouble getting sound from my MAME games when using GameEX,

even though I have MAME audio mode in the config settings set to pause playlist and run MAME with sound.

Leaving the menu page when I select a game to play, the ROMS start fine but with no sound.

Please advise!

I should add that when I exit out of GameEX and choose the restart previous game command, my MAME games start up fine with sound. Anyone have any idea why this occurs?

I'm thinking something has changed in recent versions of MAME perhaps.

What version are you using, and would you be able to try a version prior to 0.92 to be sure about this?

Hi, I will try and get you a solution for this and help.

Can you try turning off the Jukebox and Playlist, and see if that makes any difference?

Do you get sounds in GamEx when navigating?

What sound card is it?

Could you ensure you have the latest drivers for it, and latest version of DirectX.

Could you also post your log please?

I turned off the Jukebox and playlist and still the same problem. However, I do get sounds in GameEX when navigating.

Hi, yes, I can see its an issue with the Sound card.

GameEx should be using the primary sound driver, and as it seems to not be able to use it. I think that's what's hosing up.

I don't really have any suggestions on how to fix this though at the moment.

You could experiment a little with you sound config in windows. Or try reinistalling the sound card etc, maybe in a different slow.

Let us know how you get on.

You are Da Man! Quick question -- I have the MAME Roms for a 1982 game called Journey (yes, the game featuring the band). However, GameEX doesn't list this game. Any reason why?
