Ok, so here's my problem.

Had older version of gameex installed (don't remember version, installed about two years ago) and it worked flawlessy.

Replaced the hd where gameex and mame were installed (D:, system on C:) and installed gameex 12.0 (first 11.99 - same problem) and mame 0.143b on the new drive (D:).

Now gameex freezes at the nag screen (have tried waiting a long time), sometimes I can ctrl-alt-delete and terminate the 7zip extraction and make gameex load up, but then it freezes when it tries to load the listinfo.dat (stuck at 25%).

I have .net 2.0 and directx 9c installed on XP sp3.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Man is XP just having a bad run or what?

I'll poke into the log and see what it says, but chances are the problem is after the nag screen.

.:EDIT:. Everything looks legit to me. I never seen the cmd line try and pull mame.exe -help before. Do you have that file in there where GameEx is looking for it? It's the last entry in your log file there.

Uhm.. forgive me if I'm wrong... but what's that -help doing in the command line?

13:17:44.6 2011-08-19: Running: mame0143b.exe -help
13:17:44.6 2011-08-19: Running: D: D:\MAME\mame0143b.exe -help > D:\MAME\help.txt

Check your GameEx.ini file you can find in GameEx\CONFIG\ directory, and make sure the entry "MameOptions" is set to "-nowindow -joy -skip_gameinfo"

LOL!

I thought maybe that was exclusive to the unregistered versions, I admittedly don't have a ton of experience with logs from unregistered users.

Worst comes to worst, just put a blank help.txt in that location and see if you can get it past that point.

Aah man what a stupid error I made!

The reason it puts the -help there is because I linked it to the zipped mame.

So it hangs 'cause it's starting to unzip the whole mame folder everytime.

So it's fixed for you then?
