griggs619 Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 whats up guys ive been playing a lot of MAME games lately and i don't really like that i have to create save states to save my high scores. i have read some MAME versions support high scores. Can anyone recommend a good version of MAME that will save my high scores? thanks
Dan_Dan_91_07 Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 I can't recommend a version of MAME which supports it officially, however, I do know that as of MAME version 0.107u1, hi-score are not officially supported in MAME.However, you can compile your own version of MAME, using any MAME release that was made after it was took out, to add this feature back in. This link should help mate -http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=64298.0
Adultery Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Vanilla MAME does if you compile it yourself and use the hiscore and nag removal patch over at BYOAC. You can use Headkaze's MAME Compiler 64 to do all the hard work for you. It's located here along with instructions on how to do this..:EDIT:. Too slow! LOL
griggs619 Posted August 6, 2011 Author Posted August 6, 2011 Cool I'll give compiling a try. Wish me luck lol.
celly Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 I just compiled my MAME (ui64) and I can't believe how much better it is! It's so worth it. Add the latest hi_score.diff and your golden.

"copy the MameUI.mak to C:\MinGW\source\MameUI0136u3" i dont see a file called "MameUI.mak" in the MameUI source? i tried to compile without it and the games seems to work but i cant set up my controls. i don't even see a folder for "ctrlr" or "cfg" files in the compiled mameUI install folder like it should be. i must be missing something?
hansolo77 Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Its not called MameUI.mak anymore. I noticed that the other day when I compiled too. Look in your /scr/osd/winui folder for winui.mak. Just copy that over. It's the only .mak file in there.
griggs619 Posted August 8, 2011 Author Posted August 8, 2011 @hansolo77 Cool thanks for the reply. I did see the winui.mak file and was thinking of trying it but never did. so I will give that a try later.
simbamame Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Post removed. Can't link to compiled MAME versions.
simbamame Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 That's a no no. Sorry i thought you wernt allowed to link to ROMs only. My appologies wont happen again.
Adultery Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 No worries Simba. MAME devs don't want us distributing compiled MAME versions.
simbamame Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 No worries Simba. MAME devs don't want us distributing compiled MAME versions. Right ok I know posting links to ROM sites is forbidden didn't realize it was also for freely available "other bits", so thanks for not giving me a warning
Adultery Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 It's only because MAME devs frown on it. You can post links to nearly anything else (within reason of course). It's tough to keep up with everyone's demands in the emu universe, and you didn't do anything wrong. Don't sweat it my friend, you're still family.
