  1. I would like to create a MAME only cabinet with one game per screen* (*preferred) or menu of say 9 games (like iCade, etc) so easy to scroll throw a minimum number of MAME only games (without a menu). Has anyonbe got any suggestions of a theme that does this (I cannot find one), I've even had a go myself but to no avail. Thanks.
  2. I've worked on GameEX themes for years for the HTPCs I build. I have a few I'm not ashamed of to share at this point. The themes are pretty generalized, so if you have custom setups per emulator/etc it may not be ideal for you. They have "avi" (Really h.264 encoded MP4s) and static png backgrounds for everything so can be ran animated or not. I typically have a big gray bar across the bottom with a legend of what I've mapped my gamepads to but that seemed redundant for distributing them: This leaves a bit of space at the bottom that I should probably utilize better. It's designed for 1920x1080 but scales down to 1280x720 rather well. I'm assuming any higher 16:9 ratio resolution would also be fine? There are a bunch of high quality logos for most console and handheld systems as well as some generic icons I built for the theme (Like the gamepad one shown in the example screenshots). There may be some older, lower quality ones lurking in there as well that can be deleted/ignored. Attached are the themes. Through the magic of solid compression they decompress much larger (Dark Earth is 195MB and Organic Blue is 293MB) 2137282330_DarkEarth.7z 679228794_OrganicBlue.7z
  3. While updating from 15.10 to 15.27 something happened to the way my Space Invaders HD theme is presented. The issue persists with 15.31 and I can reliably restore the old look by reinstalling an older GameEx version. It's best described by looking at the screen shots below: Before (15.10 and older): After (15.27 and newer): Probably a Change View issue. I’d happily try to Change Views but after the update the Change View option in the theme is gone as well. (I have disabled „Hide Change View“ in the Enable/Disable Features section.) Do you make any of it? Has there been a change in the way GameEx handles themes in 15.27? I also tried other themes, the issue does not occur with the Default themes. I also did a complete reinstall, to no success. Thanks for any hints! smario log.txt GameEx.ini
  4. I downloaded and installed GameEX Arcade after forum comments and watching the video on the main gameex page. It shows a screen with wheels. It also shows games like 1942 with a full movie when the wheel points to that game. And last, in some screens there is a menu across the top that shows among other things "change view". Does that change themes? I don't see that menu anywhere. Is there a tutorial or can you help me duplicate that to see how it works? I would just need whatever theme is used and a little help on how to use it and the graphics/video for one game like the 1942 so I could set it up myself. I found where the graphics are stored and see in the menu for "golden age games" a wheel setup with one logo for afterburner and a snap video. Thank you.
  5. Good day guuys! Pleasure to see you all again. I hope some of you guys liked or in some cases mind me making a video helping new people joining the fold around here. Many un-answered questions from users who was interested but daunted on how to get themselves setup with a bit of GameEx goodness. I hope this video helped out those put of by switching or starting a front end Now I know this was basic, maybe not as fluent in the actual setup as some of you pros, but I hope it got many new users on board to join this great Front End. So thank you guys for making this place just as good as the FE it supports! Well now we need to take it to the next stage. I have shown people how to get it setup and get them on the merry road. But now what I need to do is show them what can be done. Show them what a completed GameEx setup can do. Show them how you guys and how they can make it their own. So no better way of doing that than seeing what you guys have come up with. that way it encourages others to push what can be done and maybe bring some new ideas. So if you could help out that will be great. I will be modifying my setup to give it a bit of WOW factor and showcasing it in a vid to show how and what can be done now that you are setup. But i would be great if I can showcase some of your setups too so people can see even more ideas, possibilities and of course just show off your work. If you got any nice builds, custom themes, ideas, remakes or anything that can help out that would be great! I will help out in any way I can to help you do this as I know you all may not have any means to record themes etc. PLEASE can share files, pictures, videos or anything it would be a massive help for me and an even bigger help for the community! Then.... well we are getting stuck into Evolution!
  6. Heey Guys, I bought a new subscription today but wasn't too pleased with the upgrading process. I installed 14.49 over an existing 12 installation but games wouldn't launch and the theme doesn't display correctly. I then proceeded to delete all generated files (everything but GameEx.ini) and reinstalled 14.49. I then rebuild the mame list. The following problems are still present: - The theme does not display its background anymore (Its black) (And foreground on some emulator menus, at random) - The application becomes black when changing views (and then crashes after finishing playing the current MP3 file) - The screenshots take extremely long to load (about 4 minutes for ~30 screenshots, in current small snap grid view) - The game video snaps are no longer displayed as background in game select (in emulator + mame) - GameEx doesn't show the launch text i configured anymore (it shows status dialog) - The Launch dialog keeps flashing but doesn't do anything - No games can longer be launched (The screen goes black, crashes after MP3 file finishes) To the best of my knowledge (checked GameEx.ini + Log.txt) All paths are setup correctly, the files are present, and worked before the upgrade I am using Windows XP SP3+ on an x86 machine, and i am launching GameEx as an administrator (and the key file is registered in the registry) (Some emulators have been switched around so it makes sense that emu_x =/= emu_x) I searched the forums before posting but the topics resolved can't solve my issues. Are any of these problems known? Any suggestion what might be wrong/what to do to fix these issues? Thanks in advance, Nikos GameEx.ini GameEx.UpgradeBackup.ini log.txt
  7. Can someone tell me where I can find the "change view" in the in "Talos skin" been using this theme for ages and suddenly I cant find it!! also the same again in "Helpman Arcade Classics 2\" Best Regards
  8. Hi. I´m trying to create a theme for GameEx, but I´d a problem. I want to leave the horizontal menu, but crop it to a certain zone of the screen. I can resize it via notepad, or entering size manually in theme editor. For example, if the screen width is 1920, I want the menu width to be 1520. It appears in the correct zone, but when I move through it, the letters flows outside the defined zone, over the other elements. There´s any way to make it displace only in it defined zone, and hidden when outside his zone? Thanks for the help.
  9. I'm assuming there settings in the wizard that affect the way themes display. I'm having trouble getting some themes from displaying correctly, or even displaying at all. What settings need to be enabled to allow greatest compatibility? I wanted to try the 4th place winner Dark Champion - Carbon 720p. However I've downloaded it 3 times already and it just goes back to the theme chooser without changing the theme or even showing that the theme downloaded. I tried the 2nd place winner Paper Mario and it does not display correctly at all, the menu options are at the bottom of the screen and the artwork/background don't display. Same with the 1st place winner After Darkness. Pure GameEx works but I don't get the tiles to select from. At least it looks like there are supposed to be Wii like tiles to choose games from.
  10. Hi All, I am having an issue that is a bit strange. At first I was switching themes that came with GameEx to see what they look like, but when I returned to the Default Animated theme I found a new strange behavior. When I load GameEx everything appears normal; however, if I go to MAME, the theme changes to another theme that has a black background and background videos. When I return to the home screen from any other screen this new theme persists; however, if I go into any emulator that is not MAME, I get the expected Default Animated theme. This behavior does not just effect the Default Animated theme. Any theme I select that has Emulator preview videos results in the exact same behavior. Aside from this visual problem everything else seems to work just fine. I am new to GameEx, and I appreciate any help you can offer.
