Hello. I didn' find a section for a first post / presentation of myself, so I will do it within this post, better thant nothing I hope. I built my own arcade cabinet last year, with an LCD, Raspberry Pi3, and an IPAC. I first used Retropie, but after months, decided to put a PC inside, in order to have more power and be able to run more recent PC games also. I first tryed Hyperspin (HyperFreeSpin in fact), but spent too many days working on it, reading forums, and it was so a hard work, with mixed results, that I decided to give up last week-end. It was the 3rd complete week-end of work, added to every evenings during the last 3 weeks... I then discovered GameEx, and I found it to be very nice, well developped, and the concept seemed very pleasant. I choosed a complete lifetime pass, in order to be able to use everything, and started to install and configure. But I'm stuck, in the middle of nowhere. I found a few posts/topics, concerning the IPAC (which I know is a keyboard encoder). I know also that we must replace the firmware of the newer versions (post 2015) with a special one which makes the gamepad function inactive (which helped a lot on Retropie and other distributions). I followed the entire advanced wizard, and saw where to assign keys (generated by the IPAC) in order to control the GameEx interface, but I can't find where to remap keys emulator by emulator for game controls using a GUI. It seems there isn't any GUI for that, inside GameEx. I saw the "advanced config" exe, which seems to help remapping keys, but I'm not sure I must use it. I searched also in the different ini files, but never found a simple, comprehensive section in these files, where I can see : - Coin 1= -Coin 2= - Start 1= - Start 2= - button A= - button B= - button X= - button Y= - button L = button R= ... and so on, as in any other frontend I tryed in the past. I only found sections with button 1, 2, 3... 15 as I can remember, but how to make the relation between these numbers and the usual controls (A, B, X, Y, L, R, coin 1/2, start 1/2) ? Must I do it all manually, using the virtual key codes (I saw that in a few posts), corresponding to keyboard inputs, and assign them to the different buttons numbers ? but how to know how to map them ? Also, tell me if it's better replacing the original keys generated by the IPAC 2, with letters only, instead of "tab", ctrl", etc... This is important, as these keys are originally choosed because they are the keys used as standard in Mame... (even if I know it can be reconfigured later in Mame, for all games, or game by game). (For information, I attached the IPAC default keys) And what about the other emulators ? Is it like in other frontends, for which you must configure control keys for each emulator ? So as you can understand, it's very disappointing (maybe it's not the right word, sorry, I'm french), because I'm lost. I thought GameEx was a big GUI, nearly plug and play (as Retropie), compared to Hyperspin, but in my case, with an IPAC, it seems it's not... I'm very sorry if I seem like "another newbie"... but I've searched and read a lot in this forum, without success... maybe i missed something... not sure... Thank you for your help. Stephane. Hello I just tried Gamex Arcade to build up my Mame Windows 10 quad core PC with touch screen support but it does not work as expected.. My PC is a Windows 10 64 bit machine with an Acer 27" touch screen (full HD, touch is win 8.1 compatible) and a benq beamer (full HD). The NVidia GTX 970 runs these both displays in clone mode but most of the time the touch screen display is used single. The 10 point/finger touch screen is running here since windows 8.1 was released for some years and is working without problems in different apps/games. The Problem: I was unable to use my windows compatible touchscreen with mame 64 (v191) and then i read about gamex to be a touch solution for this problem. When I try to configure Gameex arcade (Setup Wizard configuration guide) I do not find the option for tousch screen devices . There is no touch screen / tablet setting under the input section so I´m not able to configure something. At the moment I have installed the free version of Gameex Arcade and what I read about it was that it should support touch devices as well. I would like to use the gameex frontend with touch and hope to run some lightgun/trackball games also with touch screen. Anybody can help ? Regards

Hi Guys, I was wondering if it is possible to set gameex to read a Mess.dat file in order to display systems info when emulated? I do not find any setting in the wizard for this option. Thanks Rick

I'm a new GameEx member, just getting started with this utility. I've spent several hours knocking my head against the configuration wizard, and I'm *almost* there - just a few weird issues: 1) I'm using a custom menu, and of all the many options available in the GameExMenuEditor, the one option I can't find is probably the most basic: Update List. It's just totally not there, and I've found that the only way I can update the list is to turn custom menus *off*, restart GameEx, access "Update List" from the default menu, and then turn custom menus back on. There's gotta be an easier way... right? 2) I'm in the process of downloading GameBase64, and in the meantime, I've created a custom list entry for CCS64. Right next to it is my custom list entry for NES, which is working great. However - all of the entries for the NES are also appearing in CCS64. So I'm stuck with double entries for all of the NES games. (Yes, I've verified through the Setup Wizard that the CCS64 emulator is supposed to be using the Gamebase database, and not the NES database.) 3) I've got just a few SNES games included, and for some reason, all of the titles show up in lowercase. 4) My custom menus only have about six options in one top-level menu - but GameEx inisists on sticking a bunch of additional options after those that I don't want and can't remove: By Name, By Category, By Publisher, By Developer, By Year, Back (which is nonsensical since there's only one menu), and Home (same). Any way that I can get rid of those? 5) I've got logos assigned to all of my menu options, but they don't usually show up - GameEx just uses the default "GamEx" logo for every option. GameEx.ini attached. Thanks in advance! GameEx.ini

Evening. As part of another project, I needed a GUI ini/cfg editor in which you could use standard windows type controls (dropdowns, colour pickers etc) to set key values. Not many out there, so had to make one. This allows you to view and edit ini/cfg files more easily than using notepad etc. It also allows you to construct schema/template files for inis. Full command line support - so people developing their own apps can integrate it. Dunno if it may prove useful to anyone. On the advice of the wise, bit the bullet and plunged into Visual Basic. My first forray, so likely some runtime bugs. Just post any bugs on the codeplex site and I shall endeavor to correct... Some screenies: To get a feel for the basic utilization, just drag and drop any emulator ini's or cfg's onto the IniRedit.exe. You can download it here: https://iniredit.codeplex.com/

Scenario - You're booting Dreamcast games from GameEx via NullDC. However, you have to set up the game settings each time. Some games require change of graphics/sound settings and key mappings to your cab controls are very different across games. Solution: This approach saves the configs for each game when you exit Demul. Use: Run game. Set up controls via NullDC menu. Exit Game. Next time you load that game, the controls will be recalled. How to: 1. Make a folder somewhere for your individual game controls 2. Copy this text and make a bat file: 3. Change the User Variables Section to match your system. Save it as a batch file (use notepad - put .bat at end of filename) 4. In your command line for GameEx, enter the following: {Path and bat} "[ROM]" "[ROMPATH]" "[ROMFILE]" For e.g.: C:\GameEx\AHKS_BATS\nulldc_game_settings.bat "[ROM]" "[ROMPATH]" "[ROMFILE]" 5. Copy text below into notepad and save as "[Mapping Off] Exit (Process Close) - NullDC.ini" in C:\GameEx\CONFIG\EMULATORS

Ok, total noob question. What are the config files used for that I see mention of every once in a while. For example, this post: http://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/3-user-submitted-configs-map-files-wrappers-and-databases-uploads/page__st__20__p__53501#entry53501 From my experience I can configure emulators simply by opening the program and changing settings. Or I can configure GameEx to set certain settings upon launch, etc. Do these config files simply do that work for you? How would that work since everyone's installation is different, and their preferences for settings would be different too? I'm just trying to understand what they are used for, maybe I should be using them too. For that matter, what are Map Files, Wrappers and Databases for? Thanks.

Hi, Is that possible to hide the "Title" of the emulator in the menu ? Like "Nintendo NES"... I'm purchasing a solution for that because I would like to display the console logo only, and when I erase the "Title Text" in Setup Wizard, GameEx menu doesn't work...
