    vertical setup

The driver has a rotate option but when I select rotate 90 it says not supported with this resolution and reverts. Rotate 180 works. I'm using 640x480 on the desktop.

    vertical setup

Hi, I run GameEx in a cabinet with the monitor orientated vertically. I want to run GameEx with the ArcadeVGA LowRes theme but the theme always displays horizontal and the rotate option is ignored. If I enable the GameLauncher option the screen will rotate correctly using the rotate option. Any ideas? Cheers, Matt
  3. I have noticed this as well. I tried switching the X/Y but it doesn't like it. There needs to be some logic that works in conjunction with the Rotate90 switch when validating the parameters. If you do not rotate your desktop, you can use the coordinates 640x288 but you need to set RotatePlus90=True. Then use ror 0 in mame to get the rotation of the games right. The only problem with this simple setup is the desktop orientation. I had problems with screen orientation after I upgraded mame. I did a fresh install of mame and created a new ini. That fixed the problem. Cheers, Matt
  4. You have to run with -video ddraw -nohws Other than that its the same. I don't know if it is much faster, I didn't really experience any slow downs on the old version. It really depends on what games you play. The -resolution auto works well and I have removed all my individual INI files created with ArcadeVGARes.exe. I don't us artwork, bezels etc but there are apparently lots of improvements there. Cheers, Matt
  5. This is a GameEx support forum. Are you using GameEx or MameWah? I don't have any problems with the colours.
  6. Hi Tom, What was the nature of the problem? Was it only when ArcadeVGA=True? Cheers, Matt
  7. I hate having my desktop in normal orientation when the monitor is rotated so I messed around a lot and found this was the best setup. If your not too fussed about the desktop bit you can make it simpler by using GameEx to do the rotation. 1. Rotate your desktop 90 degrees using ATI tool 2. Change resolution using the QuickRes tool to 480x720 16-bit color. 3. Edit GameEx\Config\GameEx.ini 3. Edit GameEx\Config\GameEx.ini - Optional 4. Edit \mame\mame.ini Most games will run properly but for some reason MAME doesn't get the rotation create a seperate INI file for that room in the \mame\ini directory that override the \mame\mame.ini settings. For example. 5. Create \mame\ini\galaga.ini I hope this is everything. If it doesn't work and I have missed something let me know. If you come up with a better solution please post it! Cheers, Matt
  8. Hi, I have GameEx/MAME/AracdeVGA running in my Astro Cab in vertical orientation. I will post details when I get home tonight. Cheers, Matt
  9. The monitor in my cabinet is rotated for vertical display. I rarely used the desktop so I let GameEx and MAME do the rotation for me. Games worked fine from the command line but not via GameEx. It all broke with the upgrade to GameEx 6.49 and Mame 107. I probably shouldn't have done these at the same time. Today I used the ATI tool to rotat my desktop 90 degrees and reconfigured GameEx for 640x288. This looks good for vertical monitor and ArcadeVGA. I also disabled the ArcadeVGA option in GameEx as it doesn't seem very useful (even tho I have an ArcadeVGA card!) I also deleted the separate game ini's because they contain -ror option. Mame -resolution auto works quite well which eliminates the need for separate game ini's. So that is solved but unfortunately, somewhere in all this attract stopped working and something strange is happening during update list, games are missing which should not be. I only recently upgraded from 6.48 to 6.49 and that is when these problems started. Cheers, Matt
  10. Damn. My attract mode is broken too. I'm running MAME 107 and the GameEx 6.49.
  11. I have already configured mame.ini for -video ddraw -nohws. Adding these options to the GameEx command line fixes the video method but the resolutions are still screwed. Not suprising really because the proper resolution is set in \mame\ini\<gamename.ini>. I suspect GameEx is not reading mame.ini and ini\<gamename.ini> anymore. Cheers, Matt
  12. Hi, I'm running Mame 107 and GameEx 6.49 and have an ArcadeVGA card. GameEx is not selecting video mode properly. Using mame on the command line works fine. The resolution is wrong and hwstretch seems to be enabled. Possibly using D3D. I use ArcadeVGARes.exe to make INI files for each game. these are stored in the default c:\mame\ini path. So all GameEx needs to do it run mame.exe <game>. I don't have any mame command line options specified in GameEx. Everything worked ok with Mame 106 and GameEx 6.48. Any ideas? Cheers, Matt
