  2. Yes, everything is named fine and matching the roms, paths are correct, and they are a mix of JPEG and PNG. When I go into the 32x or Genesis section to get a list of games, the snaps, boxes, carts, and manuals all work fine and show up. Thats why this stumps me. I will up a sample a little later today or tonight. I have my machine torn apart at the moment. I am fitting it to my cabinet right now.
  3. Same here. I didnt know that either....damn I guess the old saying is true..."i do learn something new everyday" Thanks Draco
  4. I got the ISO mounting part installed and working, but I still cant see snaps for 32x and genesis. the rest work great. I might have to uninstall and reinstall GameEx.....
  5. Adultery, you were right. super easy to fix the issue I had with the weather. opened the theme editor and just moved the time and date over no resizing necessary. simple....done and looking good. I really do love this theme. I have uploaded a pic showing what it looks like now. Thanks for the help
  6. Well i tried the screen down the next available which was 1280x768 and the weather icon worked. It was perfectly spaced and everything. I will be re-installing the gameex program tonight to get the ISO mounting installed. I will let you all know if the snapshots for 32x and genesis come back
  7. Brian -- I love the idea of being able to load different configs on the fly. That would make things much easier. I will try it out for you and see how it is working. Necromancyr -- Thanks for the input. I was thinking about doing exactly what you mentioned. Shifting Config, Vol up, Vol down, p1 coin, and p2 coin (have kids and they will earn $$$ to play games by doing chores, homework, and being good. a reward thing, so I dont want them to know about the p1 coin and p2 coin. I have a working coin door that they will have to put 25 cents in play....hehehe...i know mean dad!) Pause and Esc are going to stay on the top of the cab. I guess the bottom line is the UHID is the one I will get. Thanks to everyone that chimed in on the topic.
  8. I run MSTSC all day at work, and your right direct3d is disabled to save on bandwidth. I didnt even notice that at all, at least not till you pointed it out. DAMN....Now I feel like an idiot, since I didnt catch it in the log.
  9. ------------ DxDiag Notes ------------ DirectX Files Tab: No problems found. Display Tab 1: No problems found. Direct3D functionality not available. You should verify that the driver is a final version from the hardware manufacturer. Sound Tab 1: No problems found. Music Tab: No DirectMusic ports were found. Input Tab: No problems found. Network Tab: No problems found. Yep....driver issue. Even though the driver works and is accepted, DirectX isnt seeing it. trying re-intsalling Directx 9c again or maybe even getting 10, that might fix the issue. Try that before you go looking for another driver for the video card. EDIT: Its a driver issue. your computer is using the "generic driver" from windows. You dont have to re-install DirectX, thats not the problem.
  10. You are using windows home server 2003?? no none of guru3ds drivers will work for you. I was looking at the log and it said win xp 64 bit. The only place I know of to get WHS 2003 drivers is on the manufacture of the video card website, and even then you will be lucky to even find them. drivers for WHS are hard to find period. Now the next question should be for Tom or a programmer. Is GameEx compatible with Windows Home Server? In my honest IT opinion, drop server and go with xp home or professional. better yet go for win 7. I running win 7 professional 32 bit and it works like a charm.
  11. You know what, I think i do have that 1280x720 setting.....in fact if I remember correctly i can go 1280x960, 1280x900, 1280x800, 1280x768, and 1280x720 on that monitor. I'm just guessing since I am not at home, but I run a pretty dam close setup at work as I do at home. most of things in my cab were hand me downs or I already had. Good thing since this is my first cab....now my second cab is going to be a "SPARE NO EXPENSE" type cab.
  12. The site I used to get my video card drivers is http://www.guru3d.com/ Click on downloads and then the ATI Catalyst for your operating system. Their descriptions tell you right away if they WHQL certified. EDIT: What version of DirectX are you using? have your tried running the DXDIAG from RUN in windows START menu. This will tell you what version your running, check WHQL certification and you will be able to run tests fro DirectDraw and Direct3d
  13. Not sure if this will work for you, but I had this error when I first started GameEx a couple months ago. Its looks like its bombing on the Direct3d portion of directx. Could be a video card driver problem. The way I had to get it working was to change my video card drivers to an older driver (i use an nvidia 8800 gts with driver 204.65 and not the newest driver of 275 something.)Im not sure if this is the problem or not for you, but I couldnt use drivers that WERE NOT WHQL certified, kept crashing every time I used NON WHQL CERTIFIED drivers...... thats why I had to drop down to an older driver. Just wanted to throw out what I did to fix this issue for me. Maybe Draco, Freq, or Adultery will have a more definite answer for you.
  14. Sure....I will do that tonight after work. I need to get some more materials to finish getting the cab built, but after it gets dark i will work on the software. i will upload that tonight.....Hey thanks for the help.
  15. Issue #2 --- I tested it out on the hexed theme, the enter the dragon, and the mustarda themes...and in those those themes the snapshot nor the 32x, genesis, or snes cool console pics don't come up....so there is something else wrong here. I didn't even think to try a different theme....my bad. Another question, do themes share items from other themes? what I mean by that is the only themes i have on in the GameEx themes folder is the 3 above plus megamame theme 2.2. Do any of these themes share parts from the default themes installed by GameEx? I took out all default themes and just left the ones I wanted. If so, then I will reinstall GameEx and see if that fixes it (that's what I get for deleting crap I'm not suppose to!!). I have to reinstall GameEx anyway to get the ISO mounting..i didn't check that box at first install....DOH!!! Issue #1 - Draco - I am running the max reso that my monitor will support 1280x1024. its a standard Dell 19" monitor no widescreen or anything like that. I couldn't afford anything "high tech"....lol! This one was donated by a friend to me..... No need to make a 1024x768 theme, don't go to too much trouble Adultery! Its not a big issue at all. I can do the resizing or I can just turn off the weather. thats simple enough too. I was just thinking it was a simple "change this setting in the ini to this" and it would be good. The weather is not a vital part to make my first cab work.
  16. Awesome.....thats what I thought. Thanks for the timely response. I guess I better get a bigger monitor.....this little 19" aint cuttin it!!
  17. I am honored, thanks for adding me.

  18. I love this theme. Awesome job on it. I have a couple small "glitches" if you will that I cant figure out how to fix. Issue #1 and Question - does the resolution of the windows desktop effect the layout? Reason I ask is that the Weather Icon on the 2.2 version overlaps the date a little bit. I run my desktop reso at 1280x1024. I will attach a snapshot. Issue #2 - All my emulators (mame, snes, nes, tg16) all have the way cool theme artwork in the big box to the left, the list to right, and a screenshot or avi in the small box at the bottom left of the theme when I highlight the emulator....EXCECPT 32x and Genesis emulators. I cant figure out why the screenshots wont show ( i will add a second snapshot of this too). I checked and double checked all settings and I cant figure it out. shot #1 shows the 32x not to have the snapshot and shot #3 shows to have the snapshot and both shots show the weather icon. And those are the small things I have. anyone have any ideas what could be causing these? I have deleted and re-downloaded the theme to see if it was a corrupt theme, but it wasnt. I am racking my head against the wall to figure this out and all I have to show is a lump and a headache. EDIT: Oh and by the way, yes I do have snapshots in the proper directories....and yes GameEx actually sees those directories.
  19. I did read that too. I was going to do what you did on your cab. I am putting a button on the side or front of the control panel that links to the power switch on the computer. Once pressed it will turn on and put to/pull from sleep. I was also reading that the UHID does the shift feature, so I dont have to have a ton of buttons to do specific things. I figured i could lose about 4 (or more) buttons by using the shift feature. Now I just have to figure out the command line part........
  20. There is another way I can do this. I can put the spinner and t-ball on there own USBs. This way it wont touch the interface. I also miscounted my inputs I have 8 for the 2 player joysticks, 6 buttons each for each joystick (12 total), pause, esc, enter, config, p1 coin, p1 start, p2 start, p2 coin, and 2 for volume up and down (which I may get rid of the volume up/down). I think thats 30 total. I have attached a layout of the controls to check out. I have taken off the trackball and spinner, but they will go in the big empty spot in the middle.
  21. So Brian, let me get this straight. You can upload configs by the command line?? Which means that if I put a command in the GamEx command line within a particular emulators setup(example SNES) it will load specific control configs for SNES....and change when I load TG16 or MAME emulators?
  22. I will check out the UHID. It sounds like it might fit the bill of my control panel easily. I guess i should post what my 2 player control panel setup will use also. I will be using 2 - Ultimacs Mag-Stik Plus (which are not rotary, I dont think) 1 - GGG TurboTwist2 Spinner, 1 - GGG Groovy-TB 3" Trackball, and about 31 inputs (joysticks and buttons included). Thats it, preety basic control panel from what I have seen. Any other other suggestions?
  23. wake from sleep? how do you mean?
  24. I am building my own cab and I have done some research on the control panel side. I have been looking around for a good control encoder. I am not sure which one to use. So, I thought I turn to the cabinet community and see what your opinions were for encoders. If you could, please give which encoder you use and why you chose that encoder. If one encoder is just totally awesome or one just plain stinks, then I would like to know. I want to take player and builder opinions into consideration before purchasing the one that I believe will work for me. I searched around the forums for any thread on this, but came up empty.
  25. Awesome!!! Im excited to see both of those themes...Astrology and Mario....2 of my favorite things.
