  1. EDIT: After spending the whole day trying to figure out what the heck was wrong with the video on Dragon's Lair, I finally tried the 1600 x 1200 screen and - miracle of miracles - Dirk was in the center of the screen, finally! Now I just need to know if anyone here has a Daphne 1.0 beta configuration for GameEx that they'd be willing to share. Since Daphne now downloads any needed files so that the Digital Leisure discs play, I'm not sure how / where the GameEx configuration changes. THIS POST HAS BEEN EDITED - THE ORIGINAL, NOW USELESS POST APPEARS BELOW Ok, I KNOW this is on here somewhere, but my searches have turned up empty. Is there a way to configure Windows Media Center so that IT would play the Digital Liesure versions of Dragon's Lair, Space Ace, etc? I've tried the new beta version of Daphne (which I think is pretty neat) but no luck yet! Thanks!
  2. Well, if he's like me he's talking about save states....I mashed every function button known to man just now in fusion and could not get save states to work with GameEx. Do they work and if so how?
  3. Well, after much tinkering in the advanced configuration file, I finally got it fixed for good this time. It's sort of a combination of things, mainly my forgetting to save what changes I made (I think) at the time...at least that's the way it was acting. If for some reason I experience trouble again, I will post the log here - should have done that at first, but it really only seemed to be telling me that I needed the new version of DirectX. What the problem actually seemed to be was I had the advanced config file switch on, and the MapKeys Off (I think - or maybe Map Keys was on as well), and it just didn't like both. I am using ZSNES and up until tonight had not had a problem....which is why I got rather frustrated. Usually I can look at the log and sort of tell where the problem is, but like I said it just didn't seem to be telling me anything useful. Biggest thing is that I know I can get it to stay fixed if I just tinker with the settings a bit....it wasn't anything too major, apparently. Sorry to have bothered you all!
  4. EDIT: Well, I thought I had it fixed, but I turned out to be wrong - still not working.
  5. I did some research on here yesterday, but so far nothing's worked to fix my problem. In a nutshell, I've got MAME, N64, and Genesis all running and looking like we want them to look (we are using dragon / unicorn clipart as our backdrops). However, when I click on show SNES games, GameEx crashes and dies. I have: 1) downloaded a new version of DirectX 2) reloaded GameEx (current version) 3) turned advanced graphics off 4) used a different picture for background 5) shut down and rebooted the computer 6) made changes to config file of SNES that I read about on here last night and it still crashes like a firey ball into the sea. Dost anybody have any idea what the heck I'm doing wrong? Many thanks ahead of time - I'll keep looking on here as well
  6. Hey y'all: I've had to enlist your help before, and maybe it's just me being lazy, but I cannot get different backgrounds up for different emulators. Some versions back, I was certain support for that had been added to GameEx, because before my computer crashed and burned I had different backgrounds showing for each emulator. What did I know then that I've forgotten now? What am I doing wrong? I saw the post about creating the "emulators" directory in my Themes file, but that hasn't helped either. I am using a v2 theme, also - my root was Talking Bull's theme.
  7. Thank you!
  8. I may just have to do it - like I said, some of mine are really awful, I think. And while I'm at it Kenobi, thank you for the link to them (I forgot to say so earlier!)
  9. Master Kenobi: That's my error in writing. I didn't even see it until you pointed it out. I was referrring to the cost of a disk at EmuMovies. My thing with the torrent site is that I already belong to one similar site...I can't see the use of belonging to two, but I might give it a try. Some of my Game Ex movies are going to look really, really bad I'm afraid....and I don't want to have to tie the cabinet computer up again for the same length of time when I can just download a file!
  10. I checked that out, but the one I saw that would be a free download will not let me in unless I sign up with their site...and I'm sorry, I just don't see paying $10 or more for these little 1 minute movies. If those are my options, I guess I'll have to wait it out. If I re-run the maker on GameEx, will it offer me the option of creating or not creating a file for the ones I already have? If so, I should be able to just delete the videos I don't like and try again, correct?
  11. Right now my computer is running through the list of all parent roms, and making the appropriate videos. Obviously I didn't stay up all night with this thing, but I could tell yesterday that some of the games don't give a preview of what they do...they just sit there. Is there a way to make individual attract movies for a specific game using GameEx, or does it have to do the entire list each time?
  12. Amen to what Ling said - thanks Kaze!
  13. This may just be a "buggy" thing, but we've noticed that the menu placement stays the same as it is in MAME....in other words, no way to position them for specific emulators apparently. Or are we doing something wrong? I hate to ask all these questions - but I am just nutty for GameEx and am thrilled about the prospects of being able to FINALLY be able to get it set up so that I can not only have a menu screen but our own backgrounds. I've tried them all and this is the only one that makes any sense to me! Thanks again ahead of time!
  14. Thanks Lingpanda, I'll give that a try, making all the background the same size. But yes, I can't get the backgrounds to save for anything as of this moment. (10 minutes later) That fixed my problem! Thanks Ling! I've been setting up our screens, which is why an edit took me so long! Now we can apply our idea of dragons / unicorns to our menus! Thank you !
  15. I just downloaded GameEx 6.49 and installed it so we're at version 1.51 of the Theme editor. I cannot get the editor to save any changes made. I'm going to go back and read the help file again (which will probably say - saves not included yet - now that I've posted here first), but something seems to be very wrong if it does.
  16. Well y'all, this is our first try at a home built cabinet - though I know there are flaws, we love it! The RTS M.A.M.E Arcade got its name from my daughter Ruby, wife Sonya, and myself (Tim). The dragon and unicorn on our marquee was designed by a 6th grade student of mine...we copied them on to paper and back painted them on to plexiglass. We liked Talking Bull's theme best - for now we are using it, but hope to create our own using alternating dragon and unicorn pictures on each page. We have added a plexiglass covering today, and need to redo the bezel and raise the TV up, but wanted to share a few pics!
  17. I don't know either Han - some people just don't listen do they! Actually I did try the debug thing, but because it picked up on an error that occured earlier during the setup run, it never got to the aforementioned path error. It worked, but I only ran it once, which is why I didn't see the path error until later.
  18. That got it Adultery - THANK YOU! I don't know if that was entirely it - when I looked at my working path selection, I realized I had it wrong too - but at any rate, VBA is up and going now too. Thank you guys so much for your help!! While I'm at it, Adultery, I can't wait to see your configuration site when it's done.....man is THAT going to be cool!!
  19. Ok - well, at least I got rid of the GUI for Gameboy Advance...now it just goes to a black screen for a second or two, then back to the Game select screen on GameEx....any ideas what I'm missing now? Could I have mistyped the emulator name under command and that be throwing it off? Ok - checked that out - that's not it
  20. Figures it'd be simple. Thanks for the advice and help, I'm off to try it (either / or)!!
  21. Adultery, Well, he can be taught, I suppose. I read the small blurb at the end of your post about the GameEx configurations and decided to check out those listed in the posts above. On page 2, I found one for the Kega Fusion 3.4...and when I changed mine to the existing post, much to my surprise mine also worked! No more snowy screen! It goes right to the game! I have this "sneaky" suspicion that I will have to have two SEGA pages - one for the Genesis Roms and one for my SEGA CD discs. Am I right or wrong on that? I'm still open for the Gameboy Advanced help though....no luck there yet!
  22. Thanks guys. Adultery, not knowing exactly what you needed, I'm posting everything that's "turned on." I'm starting to understand how GameEx thinks, but apparently not well enough to fix the problem. I am going to try the debug mode though to see if it will tell me / give me a hint as to what's wrong. Once again, thank you both!
  23. Hi everyone! First of all, I can't thank Tom enough for creating an arcade front end that is so easy to use. It's wonderful! Only problem is I've tried a couple of the suggested settings for Fusion and Gameboy Adv and they haven't worked. Any ideas? Running an emachine with plenty of drive space and video memory, so that shouldn't be a problem (I think memory is something like 1024 DDR). Fusion sort of works - it will at least go to the "snowy" TV screen but the game won't start...I have to right click and select the game myself. GBA does nothing - I just get a black screen after seeing it's toolbar for .01 seconds. Any help - or direction to a link - would be most appreciated!
