I have a P4 1,5 GHz, 256 MB Ram, ArcadeVGA (ATI 9200) on a cheap and very slow Fujitzu Mainboard (compared to an ASUS) with a 5400Rpm HD. It runs very fine (no glitches) using Windows XP both in 640x480 and 640x288, but i will change it to Windows 2000 to gain a little bit more speed. I use an Ipac4 and OptiPac. For my main Controls. Ah... forgot: generic (from windows) AC97 sound drivers. VideoDrivers from Ultimarc (ArcadeVGA). CU Cupid

Joust works for me. Tried it yesterday. Try to unzip Joust it and zip it back. Maybe the Zip Lib is different for mame and mame32. Do you use Mame 0.95 or some other? CU cupid

Hey Emko, The "good" sets have afaik nearly nothing to do with 7z. Exept that .7z is directly supported by goodtools and is some kb smaller than .zip. I deflated my 7z Good sets and used Stalker (a batch Zipper) (http://zerosoft.zophar.net/) to make zips from each rom. You will get some more Megabytes than before, but the will still be zipped. (i.E. Nes (0miss, 10783have) will be 1184 MB on your HD, if each file is zipped with Compression Level 9) It costs some time, but you can use good tools to audit these zips, too. Nearly every Emu that supports .7z also supports .zip I have all my good sets in Zips and no problems with gameex and goodtools. As described in the forum, you can't have merged Roms in one zip (i.E. all Super Mario Clones in one zip) if you want to use GameEx. The 7z good sets I know are all merged romsets which won't work for most emulators. So you maybe have to repack them as described above. CU Cupid

Great Changes... As everytime! You really have done a fantastic piece of software! Wow! Tree menu!!!! YES YEs Yes yes... *to say it arcade-like (Tempest 2000)* Sorry had no time to come back to the forum lately. The 49 Way Sticks sound cool. I have two T-Stick Plus in my cab and modded the spring so that they are not so hard to push... Also changing the microswitches brings some more smoothness to the sticks. I like the "hardware feeling" not to be able to push the joystick to the corners... And don't need more than 8 Ways to go, since the games i play are mostly from the golden age and so 4 way-games. Although the thing with Q-Bert seems interesting. Thats a problem with my t-Sticks. I thought about a piece of software to make a 8 way to a diagonal 4 way... Or if i could not write the software and fake the controls of mame i thought about assigning ctrl and shift to left and right and a and b to up and down and use a keytojoy program to make A(shifted)=up, B(shifted)=right, ctrl-a=down, ctrl-b=left... I had not yet tried to write my batch file for my monitor adjustments, since my Hantarex had an accident caused by the forwardind agency, i will get another Monitor which hopefully has an onscreen Display and memory for each resolution... when it is paid by the insurance company. (hantarex Monitors ar no longer produced, only pureflats, which don't fit in my naomi cab) If anybody has the same problem like i had (Potis instead of onscreen menu) i could publish my thoughts and part-lists about how to control it via the parallel port. But be forewarned: you need some skill with your soldering iron. CU Cupid.

Just a thought: What about a list of marques to select the game (scroll through it)... The Gamename could be overlayed over the marque in the bottom right Corner. If there is no marque it it could be a default Marque or a black one. OK... the different formats would be a problem... Maybe the have to be shrinked? Don't know where to put it in the FE, since it should not be a feature which you can set by preferences, but while in the lists... Cu Cupid.

Great work! I'm building a circuit that saves four Bytes of data and sends every byte to a digital-analog converter to control the width and phase for H/V of my Hantarex monitor. I will post my work here in this forum. Maybe i will control more than this with my circuit. I Could turn the Monitor on or off (to hide starting windows, turn the marque on and off, control the Volume of my speakers and the Speaker-Rear-Output, and so on). CU Cupid

I need this feature too, to control my multisync monitor. I'm building a multisync memory for H/V shift and size for my arcademonitor, it should be controlled by the parallel-Port of the computer. I would prefer the ability to set a dos command like: "par.bat $gamesizex $gamesizey". Or for Toonces: par.bat $axes. Cu Cupid!

Hi! Hope you can understand it since English is not my mother tongue... I would prefer a GPL licence. Not that i'm not willing to spend money for this great pice of software (already in this state). I actually own a licence of MS-MCE 2005 and have paid much more for it. As I have a cab running GameEx there are several impovements i would like to have in GameEx. That is: Custom Folders (like CPS and NeoGeo -> golden age, my favourite dual Player games etc.) arranged i a tree structure, Web Interface (to manage these Folders, Videos etc.), Filters for Gamelists (like in MCE) Object oriented starting of games / videos / Emulators / programs (seems to me very hard-Coded in the moment). Gamelists with roms running different emulators (e.g. all "Mario-Games", all "capcom-games") An ALL Games Gamelist (running 30000+ Games :-) ) A Disc Burner - System maybe also for burning Videos-Recordings to DVDs A TV-Recorder capable of writing Mpeg and NOT DVR-MS!!!! and so on... RSS Newsreader, Kiosk Browser. Own "before game runs" Nag-Screens (with Control Panel Informations, Graphic-Dimensions of the game) Own Scripts for calling games (to speak to my self-Build electronics in my Cab with game informations like Size, Controls etc.) Own scripts to read informations from roms (Nintendo-Roms often have some usefull informations in the header. maybe we could display them?) Fullscreen Flyer, Titles and screenshot viewer. I would be willing to help programming these features as i'm able to write several progr. languages myself. And I hope there are more geeks like me that are able to help to improve GameEx. But if it's shareware... i can't get the codes to improve them. I only could ask Tom accept my help and share the codes with me (what i did herewith), but i could understand Tom if he would not give his "child" away. If someone isn't able to improve GameEx he/she could donate the hard work of Tom (and others). To help to get money for the running costs. What do you think? Are there any other programmers here?
