  1. What I mean is, are you missing EVERY copy of game X or just X(JA)? Is it a range of games? ie, AbcX-AbdX. Since you know Solomon's Key isn't showing in GameEx, first look at the ROM file. How is it packaged? Is it like all the others? Second, are the ones around it showing, the range thing, or is it more sporadic? Maybe find a game with multiple version, such as X(USA) and X(JA), is it showing either?(Impossible to test unless you find another game that is missing, range thing again). I've never used ClrMAME, nor am I a huge MAME fan, but I know for things like Genesis and GameBoy, and N64 the ROMS come in many file types, .v64 .p64 .n64 .rom .zip... maybe gameex isn't seeing one of the file types. In windows if you sort the files by type then go to the top or bottom of explorer you should be able to compare the file types. See if Solomons Key is like the others.
  2. You arn't filtering JA EU and all those? BTW, I understand wanting it to function correctly... but why do you care for all the versions? or are you actually missing certain games? Also, try checking the mame roms directory... perhaps you have some ROM file types that MAME32 sees but GameEx does not.

    GameEX Marquee

There are many websites with marquees, check them out. Some of them have printing services and other still have just ideas or premade ones. Google it.
  4. I said this because my intro movie is extremely pixelated and presented at a very strange resolution. Sorry, I shouldn´t have worded it thus, it could be my settings. I cannot figure out why a high resolution video would display thusly in gameEx but just fine in MPC. It also seems to be rather slow, especially on loading and it skips when playing MP3's. I would blame this on my system but I can't see how... its not a speed or memory problem and both videos and MP3s load quickly and smoothly in MPC. Same goes for DVD's. Another video related question, I use MPC because it seems faster and more complete than any other video player. I can play any format, VCD DVD RM MOV WMP MPG AVI DIVX XVID ... you name it. What is the reason for using WMP engine if it is slow (opinion) and limited to certain file types. Or isn't it? -fRESH_OiL
  5. Well the easiest way I can think of is to use Nullsofts's SHOUTcast. Not sure if the windows media player can use that format of steaming video. I would think it is just a matter of codec. I just tested puting a NSV url into MPC and it could not render the file. Not sure if that means an impass, however there are other streaming formats. Really its not as cool as having the Tuner card work. -fRESH_OiL
  6. Tom- Sounds good... what is that? I google it and nothing comes up. *edit* I found it *edit* Any possibility of having a layout file for other emulators? So we could design our layout in this editor you speak of and then apply diff labels for each button in each emulator?(wouldn't need to be game specific, just per emulator) One could then select PlayStation, then go to Games or Controller Layout, showing which buttons are mapped to which. Or have the option under each game would probably be better so you don't have to go back and forth in the menus. What do you think? Also, this would probably be a question for Headkaze, I understand you are implementing the theme editor... if at all possible, if you are going to have an editable layout could it be compatible with the Ultimarc layout manager? I imagine many of us use that manager to program their ultimarc ipac... and it would be great if I could just load my IPAC settings into GameEx. If the theme editor can´t use it then maybe someone could write a converter for it. -fRESH_OiL

    Pinball

How do you get around the exiting of VP? It always ask that question and the script VPauto doesn't do much. Future Pinball, I am just checking this out for the first time, I've been into emulation for a long time and had never seen this. And then you say it isn't emulation, well, although PinMAME is, VP isn't either. and as far as reproducing the graphics and non electronic hardware, Future pinball seems great.
  8. AVI or MPG, no MOV support. Actually the intro movie is pretty poorly implemented as is. In fact, the whole media player for GameEx, although awesome in that you do not need to leave GameEx, is poor. I have opted to use Media Player Classic as a launch before program with a command line that puts my video as full screen and closes it when done. its /play /fullscreen /close. easy. It can play anyformat, including streaming or MOV or Real or DivX or anything. The option to play movies from GameEx is located... somewhere, I forgot where and have been looking for it for two days now. I have the video playing twice Sucky part about using external play is it cannot cancel the player at keypress (yet). But I might find a way as MPC is very full featured. It comes with many codec packs that can be found at free-codecs.com I use k-lite standard. it is the most complete/useful. fRESH_OiL

    Pinball

If you are putting this in a cabinet or somewhere where there will not be a keyboard, opt out if you want to opt out of trouble. Right now I am experimenting with it. The problem I am having is that Visual Pinball has no comman line strings you can pass it, and there are no plans to add them to any future version, so says the VP forums. Thus, I get dropped into the OS and I see some windows. None of these can be on my box when it gets in the cab. I've played with my cab, its fun, but I want to make it stand alone and never touch it. -fRESH_OiL

    Pinball

As far as I know there is only one option to play pinball, that is Visual Pinball. The other emulators for pinball are PinMAME and VPinMAME, same thing, however they both only emulate the electronics. They can show the back screens but cannot emulate the other hardware, ie the bumpers and the playing field... Visual Pinball does that. Visual Pinball is a great idea, but a terrible program from the players point of view. It is made more to duplicate the hardware and to edit/create your own tables. As a playable emulator... well try and use it with GameEx and you will see the problems.\ Also, there are many little ZIP files going around that have Visual Pinball on there and a number of tables... its actually nice b/c to download visual pinball you need to be on the VP Forums and they limit your downloads to 1 every 5 minutes, which makes it hard to get everything you need in a timely maner.
  11. I just finished searching the forums and could not find this info. When in GameEx and I look at the control layout for various games I want that layout to look like my actual layout. Can this be done already or should I post this in the new features section? If it can, then how? and also could it possibly now or as a new feature use the same file type/layout as another program... ie, the Ultimarc Interactive Panel Designer. That program actually sucks but if GameEx had something better that could save to that file type, so I wouldn't have to do it twice, that would be excelent. And maybe an option to show layouts for other systems... ie, I have a pretty large control panel set up for 4 players, each player with 10 buttons, this allows me to emulate N64 and PSX and such, with most of the buttons... but they are obviously in a wierd possitioning, it would be nice if I could take my layout and do that same thing that MAME does for each game, only have it just be for the whole system. IE, have my layout pop up for N64 and then I could label the C buttons, the Z and so on and so forth so peeps now whats coming up. Thus, same could go for every/any emulator or external program. Just some ideas fRESH_OiL
  12. I have a old one, this is true about the calibrating... however their accuracy was great. The new version is expensive but it is... more accurate and does not need to be recalibrated ever while on the same system.
  13. Tom- I emailed you a few weeks ago. I registered a couple weeks ago also. I have two setups, one is a newer PC with XP 64 on it, the other is a couple years old with Windows 2k(my arcade cab pc) and both have ATi tuner cards in them. I'm still setting up my GameEx on the cab pc, it takes a long time but is easier than GameLauncher, I was going to add winamp as an external aplication for watching tv on the arcade but your idea seems better. However I will add that my cab has wireless internet so the great part of winamp is that I can have tv stations and online TV in the same playlist. It seems that with the internet radio already in GameEx it wouldn't be a streach to get online TV. If my system seems up to it just post and I'll send you another email. fRESH_OiL
