  1. What set of roms are you using (merged, split, etc.) because standard mame/gameex may be scanning and not finding it due to missing files inside the romset when attempting to verify the roms. This is just a guess however
  2. Open the mame.ini file in notepad/wordpad, look for the setting stating mouse. Set mouse as 1 not 0. Or, if you only run from the commandline once in a while, add the -mouse flag.
  3. Quick Lightgun Summary Quckest Route, probably most expensive: Act-Labs guns seem to work the best if you want a plug-and-play solution Time Varies, Cheapest: Use GunCon2 guns from a PS2. There are 2 drivers out there to use...GunCon2Mouse is one and i forget the other. If you look over at www.byoac.com in the forums youy can find links and more detailed information Fairly QUick, medium price: LCD TopGun is a new product which relies upon two infraraed strips placed on the sides of the monitor. Again, look at the BYOAC forums for more information. This is, however, independent of the type of TV/Monitor used.
  4. Add the -mouse flag to the command line for mame. Other emulators, check the Input settings in the respective programs. For newest version of MAME, analog joysticks are not treated as mice, so you'll need a ctrlr file to use the mouse to control them. For tempest, the -mouse flag should handle it.
