Hi guys and gals I've build my onw pc based mame arcade cabinet, using Ultimarcs iPac etc. etc. Everything is working fine, monitor, buttons, coins slots galore... but the coins stots can only use 1 type of coin, as expected. I was thinking of using the machine as an additional "piggy bank" where I can eposit any type of coin without having to change the identifyer coin inside, or using a button or the keyboard. I'm surrently using 5c coins, which is the cheapest currency we have available in South Africa. The 5c coin however is not the lighest/smallest coin we have here (i.e. the 10c and 20c coins are much smaller and lighter, then we have the 50c, R1 and R2 and R5 coins which is bigger - more is better, R1 = 100c). I was wondering if anyone knows how to hack the coin mechs to use any type, weight and size coins? I'm using the small, simple coin mechs, with identifyer coin slot and a seperator to determine weather the coin falls through or is accepted. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I know about the bracketed text option, then I will loose all the freedom of all the bracketed text. Not an option. I will look into MAME map filed... thnx guys

Hi there How do you change the display names in MAME. i.e. Double Dragon and Double Dragon (Neo-Geo) both show show up as Double Dragon. How can I change the name to show up as Double Dragon (Neo-Geo)? Thanks

Tried your suggestions, no success. What I've done instead is using the mame folders. Gave me a little more features on the menus, but it was a very long process. I initially only started to use the rom/zip names in the mames folder list, but then I still had to use the filter function not to get the additional sets on the sugesstions list. Problem with the filter function was that for example I have alot of Jap games (i.e. where only the jap games exits) etc. So my old way around that was to filter them (i.e Japan), but then exclude these games in the exclude filter option. Or I suppose you can NOT filter them and exclude the sets you want out which is what I've done. Very confusing I know. Anyways, problem solved. I also have another question regarding menus. My screen flickers with white text, so I had to change the text colour to light grey on the theme I'm using, but now the suggestions screen text is still white! How do I change this text colour, is it also in the theme editor somewhere or do I use CPWizard? - Please advise? Thnx

Isn't clones or the subsequent sets also a way to "upgrade" the game functionality, i.e. sort out bugs, change the game code (make it easier or harder) etc?

I have a general question about MAME Roms Is the advance rom set i.e. (set 2), (set 3), etc. better than the original rom? the reason I'm asking is that the automatic rom filter function in GameEX sometimes uses (set 1) instead of (set 2), how does this work? Thnx

Hi there I've been using GameEX for a while now, but although I had the following two features working perfectly on my previous cabinet, I can't seem to get it working with my new project. (registered user). I have 2 problems, first, I've been using custom menus with all the relevant options activated, I want to use MAME under my games menu which works fine, but everytime I select MAME it just shows me the Update list option, where I have to update before I get my list. How can I get this list to stay without having to update it every time? Secondly, on the start page, how can I get the random snapshot rotator back to where the MAME logo is? Your help will be highly appreciated
