can anyone help with gens32 surreal 1.67 , i get a black screen when i try to run this emulator then it goes back to gameEX. i have been using fusion but its not my emulator of choice and gens surreal rocks. another reason for using gens is that fusion seems to give me (no signal errors) somthing to do with my monitor but it is definatly a bug in the emulator. if anyone has surreal working please let me know .. thanks

hi , i have made some segacd .bat files that work fine within windows but once i add the rom directory with my .bat files , the list appears but the emulator doesnt load up and roms. the emulator is fusion and everything is set up and working fine , it's just since i changed to bat files i cant get roms to load. any help would be great thanks

hmmm .. ok i have the .bat files working from windows they open the emulator and run the rom but they dont work within gameEX ???? the emulator loads up but no rom , must be simply due to using .bat files but i dont know how to fix.

ok i got it !!! yey i done a little research on google and found out that the path files need to be shortcuts to the files and not the master file. thanks for pointing me in the right direction night !

thanks for this , but still having a problem .. i have made paths and made as .bat which makes the file look like a dos .exe but nothing happpens when i click it. e:\mame\Fusion v3.51\Fusion.exe "e:\mame\SEGA CD ROMS\shining_force_cd" is the -scd-auto text needed ? e:\mame\Fusion v3.51\Fusion.exe "e:\mame\SEGA CD ROMS\shining_force_cd" -scd -auto --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- also i tryed shortcuts but they dont work. this is my rom path -- and the iso is called shining_force_cd E:\mame\SEGA CD ROMS\Shining Force (Eur) this is my emu path -- and the emu is called fusion E:\mame\Fusion v3.51 fusion i also fixed the path so its like this and its still not working , well i mean nothing happens when i try to run it. e:\mame\Fusion v3.51\Fusion.exe "e:\mame\SEGA CD ROMS\Shining Force (Eur)\shining_force_cd" -scd -auto also if i get this correct , how do i implement it into gameEX , do i just make lots of .bat files , put them in a folder and point my rom dir to that folder. from what i can see with the .bat files not working would this have somthing to do with my version of windows as its win xp and i have never really been able to run ms dos.exe's , when i click the screen just flashes. thanks for all your help

i tryed adding a rom path E:\mame\SEGA CD ROMS\Shining Force (Eur)E:\mame\SEGA CD ROMS\Road Rash but i get an error telling me the rom path doesnt exist. also tryed it with ; at the start of the next rom path and had the same error. hi im using fusion and i have all the systems set up and working properly but i need a little help if possible with sega cd iso directories. i have only put 1 sega cd iso+mp3 into the segacd dir and it works fine but how would i go about adding more isos as i couldnt put multiple sets of mp3's in the same directory and i wouldnt want to as it would be a mess. a work around would be mutiple rom dirs like the mame config page , could i just list dirs that way by typing in more dirs ? thanks for your time.

tryed uploading again with a 28mb file but it took ages and then disapeared and the text that i had wrote also disapeared.

what is global space , just thinking it says i have 29mb left but i have never uploaded anything , is this a quota that i have meaning this is the largest file size i can download at this time untill im become a higher ranked member ? also what is the best time to post on the forum as i never really get replys and i dont see alot of activity from other users.

hi , i tryed to upload some snaps for theme creation twice but there doesnt seem to be a link to the upload on my post. i put it in themes and media uploads page but all i can see is the post , i tryed twice and also changed/edited some of my writing and that also isnt displayed. any ideas what im doing wrong , the file is 40mb romstar

hi again .. ok done a reinstall and had a good look at the themes .. the arcade versions of the themes dont have mouse emulation so that would explain the mouse not working. the problem with the themes not loading seems to be down to the install options , when i choose not to download all the default themes , since i already had the themes zip from the download page , 18mb then try putting the themes in to gameEX they show up but then give loading and graphics display problems also problems with sound. but choosing to download the themes as apart of the installer fixes this and also lets me install the other themes like soul calibur with no problems. so it looks like its down to the installer , it must do more than just install themes to the themes folder. hope this helps if any of you guys get simular problems. romstar

also , noticed gameEX doesnt look right , slight flicker as if theres no v-sync and theres times when the mouse stops functioning and the keyboard enter key doesnt do anything ,also theres slight slowdown , more like less responsivness within the menus , im sure this must be since the last 2 updates to gameEX since i also noticed these problems before i formated my pc and this was when i tryed the last 2 updates. please note that i have not messed around with the gameEX options this is a strait install and i never had these problems before , also i have not yet even tryed to hook up any emulators or mame to gameEX since im getting all these problems from a fresh install.

thanks for the comments guys .. i do see your points about the gaming aspect and that multimedia options are not required for cabs. i my self dont have a cab , tho i want to get one in the future , i use my tv and im in the process of building a new small desktop style pc for under the tv and all of these functions are ideal for a quick glance at email ,news and choice websites as well as the superior dvd and hd movie playback from a tv , and theres always space for music regardless of setup. tom had already implemented a full and light install for gameEX and i think the points that you guys brought up about a pre setup for games and one for multimedia is a great idea. thanks for your opinions romstar

hi , i cant see an option to disable the screen saver , but there are options for the screen saver timing .... go into config and at bottom of screen click the (next page tab) then go into attract/screensaver , theres a few options you can change as well as changing attract mode timer to 20 minz. hope this helps a little.

hi iv noticed that if i try a radio station that is offline or has a bad link game EX will try and try to connect and theres apparently nothing i can do to cancel the radio command , unless theres a hot key that cancel's the radio search.i do understand that in some cases after searches with no media gameEX returns but this isnt always working infact rarly works for me , and the weather / news feeds may also have this problem. iv tryed esc and other main keys but dont know of any hotkeys.the other side of this problem is i cant quit or end task or do anything appart from reset the pc , can this be fixed in future releases , there should be a timer for radio pick up as it should not take any more than 20 secs for any given station to have sync'd. another option would be a proper cancel button / or back button that is clearly on screen. also , does anyone have a good list of radio stations they are willing to share , im looking all over the net at the moment with not the greatest of luck , i know theres a sticky thread for this but theres no radio links just translation files. thanks romstar

thanks for the info tom , ill settle for the older nvidia driver untill i get a new system,its a shame older cards dont fully work with the newer drivers but i can see your point and that modded drivers mabe of some use. i might have a word with the guys over at (extremeoverclocking) as they might be able to help but it all depends on what needs to be done to the driver , something i dont know anything about. http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/ romstar

thanks Adultery im going to get all my backed up emulation back on my hard drive and ill get stuck into this , ill test just about all the emulators available and find out what works and what doesnt and more importantly what works best.once i have some idea on what is best ill post some sort of compatibility list along with any other info that is needed. time to get out the old nvidia driver. romstar

hi again , what emulators are recomended for use with gameEX ? i have tryed model 2 with varied support meaning non gun games work some of the time. these are the emulators i have tested -- ------------------------------------------------------------------ pj64 - didnt load up at all for me , i got a blank screen. zsnes - works perfectly. model 2 - worked with non gun games then stoped working. rocknes - didnt work , blank screen when loading roms. ------------------------------------------------------------------ the big issue for me is when trying to load a rom i get blank screen and if i run gameEX windowed i can see that the emulator in most cases is halted at rom load , on pj64 and model 2 the emulator runs in the background meaning there must be some loss of focus or something. i have read the other posts on these emulator issues and have changed my config accordingly with no joy. could we possibly have a sticky on emulator compatibility ? thanks romstar
