  1. Actually Damdai is working on a new Supercade WIP, that looks to be a psuedo return to form for us 2DF fans. Also, why on earth would you use external apps to launch ggpo and supercade ? Both of them already have their own frontend shells and are extremely neat, easy and simplistic to launch.
  2. I have an interesting question regarding this program....I notice that the newer versions of mame(well, not quite as new anymore) allows the user to select a different game within mame itself and while already playing your game. A very very cool concept. But here's the question....does this work while in an online game? Or do you still have to back out of mame and go back to the GameEX frontend to select a different game? It would be very cool to be able to select a new game while still playing the current one.
  3. Thanks mesk I'll keep that in mind
  4. I amde a post asking Tom the same thing. Hopefully he will assimilate Client Server MESS into the GameEX front end, so that we won't have to deal with any commandline mumbo jumbo
  5. Thank you so much Tom you ROCK!! That is an OUTSTANDINGLY good question!

    Net Play With Mess

Yeah I hear ya Freq. Just as an FYI, I have been using ZSNES for over a decade, and you guys are absolutely right about MESS not being as good as the standalone emus. But here's the thing.....Although ZSNES *DOES* have it's own netplay function, it is less than impressive, as the devs have admitted. Desyncs are plenty and lag is am issue as well. That is why I am curious to see how well Digital Ghost has been able implement his own netcode into MESS. From all accounts, he sounds like he is committed to making it function extremely well. There are not a lot of alternatives out there for netplay in emus for either SNES or worse, NES/Genesis. Can you guys think of any? I know Kega Fusion does it too but it desyncs a lot. Have any of you actually gotten a game online with Client Server MESS? If so, what system did you play and what was the experience like? Laggy? Or GGPO-ish?

    Net Play With Mess

Hi mesk and thanks for the reply. Mesk can you do me a favor? Would you mind listing your PC specs, as well as naming the games that don't run or run choppy for you? I'd like to try them out and see how they run my machine

    Net Play With Mess

I don't get it. What's wrong with snes emulation? I tried super mario allstars and it seems to to work just fine. do most of the games run like crap or something for you guys?.
  9. Tom, I can't thnk you enough for this amazing front end. It's awesosme. OK now that I have figured out how to add ClientServer MESS to GameEX, I would like to make a very heartfelt and sincere plea to you....please please please PLEASE add netplay support for ClientServer MESS into GameEX the way you did for ClientServer MAME. I am absolutely LOVING mess! It's awesome how it allows you to play games from so many different systems from one emu. So if you combine that ability with being able to play its games over the net thanks to Digital Ghost, we will have something very special! Is this something you are working on Tom? Oh and has anyone by any chance tried playing a game via CS MESS online? How exactly does it work? Does it need to be done via a command prompt? If so, having Tom integrate it into GameEX would eliminate that process and make things much easier for those of us scared to touch command line stuff
  10. I GOT IT!!! Tempest thanks a bunch for writing that guide. I finally figured out how to add MESS to GameEX. It required some tweaks and modifications to the normal process of setting it up, for example since I'm using the ClientServer MESS, I had to type vmessuid.exe instead of mess.exe for the "working path", as well as selecting the proper path for my roms. But it is working beautifully now. Tempest you and Frequency are doing a SPECTACULAR job! Thanks again for all your help, and I'll post when I have more questions
  11. Frequency you are awesome man! Thanks for providing that link I'm gonna check it out. Oh and keep up the excellent work you're doing we all appreciate it
  12. Hi guys. I too, am having problems figuring out how to add emulators. In particular, I really want to add MESS. Can some PLEASE provide step by step instructions on how to add MESS to GameEX? I *think* I added it to the correct paths but there are so many different options for paths and other stuff, that I'm just confused at this point.
  13. I hate to ask such a dumb question frequency, but how exactly do I open the command line prompt in MAME?
  14. Thanks for the reply. I'm not really comfortable using commands, so what about if I use another simple mame front end and make the changes via the frontend instead? Will the changes then "stick" and be applied upon running GameEX?
  15. Hello gentlemen. It's nice to meet all of you Tom this is by far the best MAME front end I have used. Very sophisticated and has a lot of features! Great job my friend I gotta basic noob question....I am running Windows 7 and have always used the MAME32 version of MAME. Since this is the first time I am using dos mame via this GameEX front end, can you tell me how to go about changing the default MAME options? I'm referring to things like resolution, blitter effects, sound options, cheat enable/disable, etc. I've tried searching around the GameEX Basic MAME and Advance MAME Config menus and do not see anything related to these options I mentioned above. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks
