  1. No I wasn't getting any issues, just trying to ask as much as I could before I get started. So I just install accepting the defaults. And then when I'm done installing I replace the media folders with the ones from the backup etc? Also is there anyway I can avoid doing all the emulator configurations again, how do I get gameex on the New computer to recognize them... Sorry to ask so many annoying questions... I'm just trying to avoid redoing anything I've already done if possible... I think your right that the version was the version number off the .exe Thanks a lot for the help so far.
  2. When you say "install over the top" do you mean that I first place the backup of my gameex folder in the C: drive before installing. And then install? Also in the lastest versions of gameex can I force 4:3 Aspect Ratio, cause I'm feeding the signal to a CRT television. Thanks so much for the help guys!
  3. Thanks guys, Before I start up the latest version of gameex for the first time... is there any sort of protocol I should go through in terms of transferring Media and the thumbnails (aka THUMBS folder) and the gameex Assets folder (where all the snapshots are etc.) from the older version to the new version. Like how should I situate everything so gameeex recognizes it and I don't have to reassign everything... any specific process?
  4. So I got Gameex long ago (the paid version) and still love it. But after I set it up it met my needs and I didn't really bother to update it once I got everything set up the way I like. Now I'm noticing a bunch of bugs that weren't there before, like crashes when I save to favorites etc. My arcade machine computer is a Windows XP. And now I have a new computer (Windows 7) with a nice graphics card and would like to transfer my stuff over to the new machine. My main question is this older version of gameex I have (very old version) I've customized the look of everything quite a bit. And am very attached to the way it looks and put a lot of work into it. Is there any easy way to upgrade to a new version of gameex and still have everything look identical to how it looks now. I also don't know if I can upgrade to the best version of gameex without upgrading to gameex evolution. One last question. I did a thing where I went into the thumbnails folder and saved over the thumbnails with box art... (In gameex under the MEDIA folder the folder is called "THUMBS"). By doing this I could have a game screen shot as the background.. and box art as the thumbnails... this took a lot of work to do with all the games I have, as at the time gameex didn't have that feature built in... And I really would like to avoid doing that again when moving to the new computer... Worst case if anyone can point me to the newest version of gameex I'd need to update too, to accomplish what I said above... even if it isn't the newest of the new versions... I would really appreciate if anyone could help! (GAMEEX VERSION: 1.0.0 - GAMEEX SETUP WIZARD VERSION: 2.5.1 - It says Copyright 2011) Thanks!
  5. Nullpointer... since that's the case with Project 64... what combination of Project 64 plugins and settings do you find compatible with the widest number of games? or what are the settings you use... for the games where you must resort to P64 instead of 1964 or Mupen Also the configuration list you reference is great... anything similar configuration reference for PS1?
  6. When I use an emulator like Project 64... many games work best with different plugin etc. Is there a way without creating separate emulators for each plugin to easily manage games opening with the desired plugins? Also really curious if old gameex style skins will still work on evolution... worked really hard on my skin and want to keep it the way it is
  7. Hey I just got an Oculus Rift Development Kit.. It seems like it would be really cool to integrate with gameex... it's pretty amazing.... I was just wondering if Tom or any of you had heard of the Oculus Rift (It's essentially the first Virtual Reality headset that actually works... it's really incredible... I've been following this stuff for a while and this is no virtual boy... it's like the anti virtual boy... it can really feel like being in another world) But all sorts of amazing interfacing would be possible! just wondering what you guys thought
  8. Anyway direct... or a clever work around.. to open save states as if they were game.. Like I have save states files for all boss fights in certain games for let's say for example (Kega Fusion) Is there any way from to get gameex to open the save state files directly.. instead of having to open them within Kega Fusion.. or atleast put a command line that makes this happen.. or batch file.. or something.. I know this process is probally different for each emulator.. but just curious if anyone else has figured this out..
  9. Just when you think you cataloged all your childhood favorites exactly as you wanted.. some dumb friend adds Barbie on NES to the collection. A very simple request.. just like we are able to disable "change view".. to make sure the layout of the games stays as desired.. I would also like to be allowed to disable the "Add to favorites" button.. As a registered user with custom menus.. I am able to have the favorites menu or category not even appear.. so let's say hypothetically I'm a registered user who has chosen not to have the favorites menu selectable.. there is still the "add to favorites" button.. even though it now has no purpose.. aesthetically that's just weird..
  10. yeah but I can disable "change view" if I don't want people changing the view.. there is no way to disable "add to favorites" in the same fashion?.. seems odd.. thanks for the suggestion but I'm really just looking to disable or remove it.. and then I'll think about breaking fingers later..
  11. I want to keep my favorites as is.. then friends come over and add their favorites.. How do I disable or hide add to favorites so they can't do this?
  12. Thanks Tom!
  13. Is there a file that gameex uses to indicate which games are listed in the favorites menu... I would just like to type in my favorites manually.. the interface is great and all.. but I've got so many games and instead of navigating to them one by one.. I'd rather just type it in.. any one know where I could find this file or if it exists?
  14. I figured out a very easy way to fix the problem.. if I keep daemon tools closed... gameex opens it.. and you see the window.. so all I did was open daemon tools before I open gameex.. and then I just minimize daemon tools.. then open gameex. since it is opened but minimized.. gameex feels no need to pop the window up.. All my problems are solved!! thanks everybody
  15. Adding those double "" like you did causes me to have an empty drive in the SSF emulator.. when I put it back to the way it was.. it works again.. so at seems like at least with my setup its causing daemon tools not to mount anything. works without those two quotes though
