  1. Yes, topic can be closed. My GameEx version was always up-to-date but I was using a legacy executable for the setup. Maybe a future version of GameEx could make sure old files are deleted during update?
  2. Hi all, many thanks again. I have attached the log file. So in the meantime I think I was able to solve this question: since I have been using GameEx for approx. 5 years now it seems that I was always using the (obsolete) GameEx Setup application (the GameExConfig.exe)...the executable has the mod date: 2011-03-20..wow! I will use now the SetupWizard.exe (in the post shown by Draco), which is slightly newer: 2016-11-17 :-) Thanks again for your support! Kind regards, Thomas log.txt
  3. Thanks for all your answers. When I am using the GameExConfig.exe editor I have a limit of 62 emulators. If I can simply add more by editing the config manually it'll be fine.
  4. Hi everyone, I would like to ask if it's possible to increase the number of available Emulator slots in Gameex from 62 to at least 99. Reason is that I love testing many emulators (for most of them I have just a couple of roms) and I don't want to override the settings again when checking out a new one. Many thanks and kind regards, Thomas
  5. Hi, I am currently trying to change the in Game Key (to e.g. view manuals while playing) from key F10 to F11. I have set the option in "Input Settings" -> "In Game Key" to value 87, but it is still F10... Any ways to change this properly? Thanks and best regards, Sprudel
  6. Yes, absolutely right...I really prefer using a Gameex snapshot feature instead of the one inside an emulator. Example: For Dos Games I use a simple script which loads a configuration within D-Fend, the famous Dosbox GUI. With D-Fend I could also create screenshots while in game but this has one big drawback for me: The screenshot files does not match with the game in Gameex, so the screenshot won't be displayed automatically and I have to rename it. So as nullPointer already said this should become a new feature request...and concerning the behaviour how to handle a situation when a screenshot for the game already exists I would suggest to have another Gameex Config option for this as well (Overwrite existing screenshot: Yes/No, if no, create a filename with index as suffix, e.g. _002 like in D-Fend). Rgds, Sprudel
  7. Thanks for your fast reply.. Yes, this is exactly what I mean. And yes, I know the last option with the ESC key of the "Create Snaps" options. This is exactly what I want but only for a single game. At the moment, one game is started and I can press ESC to take a snap. But when I finish the game (or depending on the emulator pressing the ESC key will also quit it) Gameex will start the next game in the list. This is fantastic if you want to take snaps for all games. So my question was if its possible to take just one snap for a single game (maybe even during an ordinary game session instead of using the Create Snaps option). Thanks again. Rgds, Sprudel
  8. Hi there, I was wondering if it is possible to create an ingame screenshot similar to the "Create snaps" function which will go through each game in the list? Thanks in advance. Rgds, Sprudel
  9. Hi all! I was just wondering if it is possible to have multiple folders for the startup videos? I tried to change my Gameex.ini like this: StartUpVideo=D:\Emulator\Multi\GameEx\DEMO\Videos;D:\Emulator\Mame\movies But in this case, no startup movie was shown. Thanks & Best regards, Sprudel
  10. @Draco: Thanks for the hint, I will do this next time like this. @Tom: Thanks a lot for the quick fix!
  11. Hi! I just started Gameex after one week and I got the message to download an update (11.83). After restarting Gameex all my Gamebase database didn't load anymore. In the log file I got for all Gamebase databases I have the message "Not Restoring Emulator Database From Cache". I also tried to delete the cached files and restarted...nothing helped. Is this maybe a bug with the latest version? According to the changelog some logic concerning database loading has been changed. Thanks a lot in advance. Sprudel
  12. Ok, thanks guys for your answers. So I will just create a copy of the Access db of Gamebase and delete all non-playable games in there...so no chance for Gameex to display them ;-)
  13. Hi all! Another Gamebase issue: currently Gameex shows all the games available in the Gamebase. Maybe it would be better to show only the playable games. There are some gamebase packs around which include less playable games than registered games in the database. What could I do? Thanks in advance. Sprudel
  14. Ok, maybe no chance to fix this currently. Just for everybody who is interested: I had to change the keymapping in WinVice not to map the ESC key with RUN/STOP (I used End key instead).
  15. Hi all! Just wondering if there is any chance to get a D-Fend (great fronted for DOSBOX emulator) integration like Gamebase within Gameex? Thanks a lot in advance. Best regards, Tom
  16. Thanks for your answer. I think that it is absolutely not necessary to introduce a keymapping functionality for Gamebase now. Maybe it would be best just to disable the ESC key completely for Gamebase and any other mapping when it is disabled in the setup (Enable/Disable Features - Disable ESC key). Or what do you think?
  17. Just to be sure: The ESC functionality is done by Gameex not by Gamebase. When I use Gamebase directly without Gameex the ESC key in the case of WinVice will emulate the C64 RunStop key, which doesn't close the emulator. So in my opinion it should be possible somehow to disable closing the emulator with the ESC key by setting this in Gameex? Or is this absolutely wrong? Thanks in advance. Sprudel
  18. Hi all! Just wondering if there is any chance to get a D-Fend (great fronted for DOSBOX emulator) integration like Gamebase within Gameex? Thanks a lot in advance. Best regards, Tom
  19. Hi all! I have been using Gameex for a while including it's possibility to use Gamebase databases as well! I have recognized the following: Although I have disabled the ESC-key in the Gameex config, it seems not to work for Gamebase? For instance I have installed the Gamebase 64 database and using the ESC key within WinVice will quit the emulator and return to Gameex. The setup seems to work for Gameex itself because within the application itself, the ESC key won't quit the application (as desired). Any hints for this? Thanks in advance, Tom
  20. Hi all! I was just wondering if it is possible to see the system the game belongs to already when the list of search results appear. Currently I have to choose the game which brings me to the game detail page where I can see the system/emulator. Thanks and best regards, Tom
  21. Ok, I think I have detected the problem: It was a very good hint from your side to test it with one gamebase db only. There was one gamebase db which didn't work properly...after having moved the folder out of gamebase I deleted also all the cached files and rerun Gameex...and it works like a charm from the very beginning! Thanks a lot for your help, so I am very happy with my setup now...
  22. Sorry for the late reply...I have attached both log.txt and GameEx Config. By the way I worked with a clean installation of the latest Gameex version. So I didn't use custom menus and only enabled Gamebase (with some more databases as before) and the demo emulators. But the problem stays: I enter a game of the Gamebase and don't see further details and cannot start the game...I have to go back to the main menu and back to any gamebase game again to play it. Where can I enable the second screenshot of all gamebase games? Thanks a lot in advance. log.txt GameEx.txt
  23. By the way, why do I online see one screenshot whereas I can see in Gamebase multiple?
  24. Thanks for your fast reply. In the meanwhile I have recognize the following: The problem not to be able to start the game occurs only the very first start...I just have to go back to the main menu and enter again the emu menu entry I have for GBC...when I open a game I am able to start it. Also, stuff like descriptions are loaded and I see also an option to add the game to my favorites which I hadn't before. Very strange indeed..maybe a general problem concerning initializing the gamebase db?
  25. Hi all! I have a running gamebase v1.3 system (currently only with GBC v07) and try to integrate it in Gameex. I have enabled the gamebase support in config. Next, because I am using custom menus, I added a new menu for GBC and chose "Gamebase System" as Item Type and "Gamebase System 1" as Emu/Group/App. First question: When I add new gamebase systems how do I know the number to be chosen? But that's not the important one: My biggest problem is that I am not able to start the games from Gameex. I can see all the games in the gamebase system including the screenshots. Choosing a game will switch the screen to a nearly blank one with only option "Start game" which doesn't work (sometime Gameex even hangs up, but there's nothing in the log). Does anybody have a hint for this? Thanks in advance, Tom
