[RESOLVED] Gameex Arcade Edition issue with themes and video previews
Scoot Magee replied to Scoot Magee's topic in General
Hey guys, I fixed the issue. It wasn't a video codec issue or anything. I think it had something to do with me switching up the directories after gameex downloaded the artwork. I ended up doing a clean install and kept all the default directories ans it's working now, Thanks for all the help! <edit> I thought the fresh install is what fixed my issue with the themes and preview videos but that's not the case. After I got everything up and running I turned filters off in setup wizard to try to gain access to 2p versions of 4 player games like tmnt. When I did that all the themes stopped working. I turned the filter back on and all my themes showed up again. -
I just recently installed gameex arcade edition and its working great. I just ran into an issue getting themes and video snaps to work properly. After installing I enabled the automatic art download feature. For some reason it started downloading all the artwork to my desktop which flooded my desktop with icons. I then configured everything to download into specific folders and set Gameex AE to find them in those folders. I checked the folders and everything checked out, all the files were there but my themes and video previews do not show up when I'm going through my games list. I can see other art like pictures of the cabinets and game icons for the wheel though. These are my paths C:\GameEx Arcade Edition\MEDIA\DOWNLOADED ARTWORK\MAME\VIDEO C:\GameEx Arcade Edition\MEDIA\DOWNLOADED ARTWORK\MAME\VIDEOTHEME Is there something I'm doing wrong? I had all the video themes and etc put into those folders.

Thanks for your helps guys. I ended up just uninstalling gameex and switched to gameex arcade edition and it's working. I'm going to try a fresh install of gameex later as well but I'm not too worried about console games at the moment. Anyway I now ran into some minor issues with arcade edition. For some reason I cant get themes and etc to display even after setting to the correct directory. My arcade art and etc shows up but no themes, preview videos or snaps show up. I didn't know if I should make a new thread for this.

Ok so I set to admin but that didn't work. Here's another log. I actually got an error every time I tried to boot anything at all. NES, SNES, Genesis and etc all give different errors related to d3d and direct draw. I'm guessing these weren't working all along but I was only trying to use mame. log.txt

I didn't boot game ex for a while and the only change I can think of in between the last time I used it and now is that I replaced my broken gtx 670 with a new one. All the drivers are up to date as far as I know. So basically what happens is when I boot a mame rom from game ex the screen loads black and after some time I can hear the game struggling to run in the background. The sound is slow and choppy and the screen stays black until I back into the game ex menu again. Windows 10 64bit AMD fx 4100 quad core gtx 670 I also attached a log. Thanks! log.txt

Hey guys I think I got it working! It hasn't crashed at all after a few tries. I decided to right click my Gameex shortcut, went to properties and for some reason I seen that it was in Windows XP compatibility mode. I switched it to Windows 7 and it stopped happening. It's really strange because I never actually changed it. I knew it was going to be something stupid lol. I appreciate the help guys. Hopefully this will help out others if they run into this issue.

Ok so the 2nd monitor didn't matter but I found something interesting, at least I think I did lol. I decided to try going to more games and programs and then configuration. It went to the config screen as usual and when I finished going through the config the same crash happened when trying to go back into Gameex. So I then tried simply starting Gameex and then I alt tabbed it to go back to windows. When I tried to bring Gameex back up the same crash happened again. So something is specifically happening at the point in time and I have no idea whats causing it. I attached a log from when I tried to go from config back to gameex and from when I alt tabbed. gameex log.txt log.txt

It's been consistently giving me a windows error now. It's just a basic error message saying the program has stopped working and windows is looking for solutions. Lol I'm totally out of ideas here. I have a dual monitor setup with my cabinet. I just realized that I switched my 2nd monitor over from hdmi to VGA. I've been trying with both monitors on and with only one active with the same results. I'm going to give it a shot with the VGA unplugged and see what happens.

Just want to add that I ran that test in command prompt as well and it didn't find anything.

The only thing I can think of that I changed was that I updated my video drivers for my Radeon card from the official AMD site. I tried reinstalling them but that didn't work. I'm not sure the exact driver version I had before these. As for exiting games. It's when I exit anything regardless of what it is. I tried using a the specific button combo of coin + start that I have set and I tried the Esc key. Same thing happens regardless. Gameex lite is the free version right? I haven't used that one in a very long time. I can try it though.
-
Thanks for the reply. That still didn't do it for me. I'd also like to note that I did recently update my video card drivers (Radeon hd 6670) to the most recent version. Could that maybe have something to do with it?

Here is what I beleive is the ini file. I got it from Gameex/Config. gameex.txt
-
Hey, sorry about that. Hopefully this is log is correct correct. I gopt it from the LOG folder within the Gameex folder. I also just want to add that it doesn't seem to be crashing with an error or anything. It just hangs on a black screen when exiting a game. It looks as though its doing what it normally doeswhen I exit a game but then it just hangs and the black transition screen. In order to do anything I have to open the task manager and close gameex. After I do that my desktop gets all whacked out and all my icons are gone until I restart my computer. Edit working on grabbing the ini now sorry. log.txt

Hey, not sure whats going on. I haven't changed any settings or anything recently but when I try to exit a game Gameex crashes to a black screen. I end up having to reboot my PC because I lose my desktop icons after I shut down game ex from the task manager. I normally exit games with a specific button combination that I have set up on my arcade cabinet. Not sure if that has anything to do with it but I figured the more info the better. Also this didn't happen last time I played maybe about a week ago but I updated Gameex when prompted to today so I'm not sure if that could be the issue. Here is the log from when it happens. Hey I recently lost my PC along with everything in the hard drive in a flood from Hurricane Sandy. I had the file that you drop into the gameex folder to upgrade from the demo version to the full version. I got it by donating to paypal a long time ago. If it's possible to reaquire the file how would i go about doing it?
-
The option actually reads change view
-
There used to be an option for appearance within the menu's of game ex. It would let you change what game lists looked like and ect. For example instead of the names of games you could set it to display a little screenshot. I just noticed recently that I couldn't find the option anywhere. Did the update changed something?

I was playing chrono trigger and tried to save my game like you normally would on SNES. When I exit the game (I have a controller input that closes the emulator and goes back to gameex) and reload it I lose my save, If I boot ZSNES directly and save the same way it works fine. Does it have something to do with the method I use to exit games? I If any more info is needed I'll post it up, just let me know. Thanks.

Just donated but not sure how to activate full version

Thanks for the reply's guys. Got my key today. -
Hey I hit 1 at the startup screen to donate to gameex and donated $25. I'm sorry for the stupid question but how do I go about activating the full version after donation?
