Worked Great! Thanks again Tom.

Thank you Tom. Instant sheller did the trick and then also GameEx went in and stayed full screen by itself. Let me ask you...when I exit GameEx now, I'm left with a Black screen, no cursor, etc. Obviously, Instant sheller did this. How does one easily go back if he needs to make an adjustment now to the OS or to something in GameEx settings? I did a Control Alt Delete but not left with much in Task Manager. Probably an easy way to disable Instant Sheller, make the change then reshell it is what I'm guessing people do? Shawn

How are people hiding all elements of windows 10 during startup? I used to use a program called "stardock" back in the day but doesn't seem to be working well on win 10, only goes up to Vista. Also, I want Win 10 to launch automatically when win 10 starts so dropped it here(C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup) but it will start say "gameex is loading" then go back to windows desktop and it will be minimized in the taskbar. I have to click on it in the task bar to maximize. Any ideas here? Thanks, Shawn

Thank you very much for clearing this up for me.

Hello, I originally purchased Gameex back in 2006 for an arcade that I built and it worked great. I have since setup another arcade and want to run GameEx again. Back then you had one choice of GameEx, you load it, double click the .reg key to license it and you were good to go. Can I get a similar regular GameEx and own that version as long as I want? I see one in the store called "1 Year GameEx Pass". Will my GameEx on my arcade stop running after 1 year and I will get the nag screen again or will I continue to be able to play but no further free upgrades? Second question: I seem to be able to run version 11.52 very well on my Win7 install. If I buy a version today, can I installl v11.52 if I still have the install and run the .reg key I will get when I buy it today. Will it unlock that older version or if not, can I request the key for an older version? Really appreciate the help. Shawn

Guys...thanks again for the help. I started over from scratch which isn't always the most fun thing to do and followed your ini file Adultery and it plays like a champ. Some of it had to do with me having the 7zip/zip option set to YES even though they were zipped i chose no and that seemed to help them play as well. Thanks again for all you help.
-
Thank you Adultery. I will play around with it tonight and see what happens.

I'm not sure if there is something more to it. The paths and things may actually be correct now and remember that this all works fine for me outside of GameEx but as you can see in the video link attached (turn up the volume) you can hear that I click on the game and nothing happens. I've imported a fresh ini file and started from scratch but that didn't do it either. Other emulators are working fine. I've even tried running a different .exe file in there beside vpinball.exe just to see some action of even a program won't load but nothing. Have you guys seen this? Does it for all Visual Pinball games. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vy89FH78Wpo thanks.

Hey guys...thanks for sticking with me. The only thing I had to do to match what Adultery had I THINK was to back my ROM folder out of c:\visualpinball\pinmame and move it to c:\visualpinball but when I change my paths to yours my ROMs won't show anymore when I go into gameex. I guess I'm still confused how every other emulator for the ROMs path you point to the "ROMS" folder but for Visual you point to the TABLES folder? The way I'm reading your paths above Adultery is: c:\visualpinball\ (vpinball.exe is here) c:\visualpinball\tables (vbs and vpt files here) c:\visualpinball\roms (zipped roms here) I'll try whatever you think....unzip my roms or dump them in the tables folder or import a new ini file if you point where to get one, etc. I'm getting desperate. Thanks again.

Hey guys. Sorry I'm getting a little confused now about they way it should be. Would it be okay to attached a few quick screenshots of how my Visual Pinball folder is laid out? Maybe that would clear things up and we can go based of of this? They are very small files. (guess i can't insert images but here are some quick links) http://img10.imageshack.us/i/54415247.jpg/ http://img691.imageshack.us/i/23920354.jpg/ http://img404.imageshack.us/i/99869496.jpg/ http://img145.imageshack.us/i/51321346.jpg/ I hope this helps.

Thanks guys. By registered I wasn't sure exactly what you meant. I have a registered version of GameEx that I paid for. This is my new config file. I was getting mixed messages from both. Now the games show up in the GameEx list using the .vpt filter but when I try to click on it, it doesn't do anything. Won't let me click it in the GameEx list. THanks. Hello, Running GameEx 11.52 Visual PinMAME 2.1 Visual Pinball is playing fine when running it outside of GameEx so tables and roms are working. I know some people dump their roms in their tables folder but I just left them separate the standard way. I was also confused by some peoples configuration filter the .vpt files. When I do this no games show up in GameEx but when I filter the .zip files my roms come in they show up fine but just won't play...it will return to the game list page. Could someone please take a look at my configuration and let me know where the problem is? Thank you. Seem to be working great...thanks again.
-
Dang it...well that was obvious...for some reason I never go in there because I always assume it talking about some other type of MAME called advmame.exe which I never use so I don't worry about it because I use regular MAME. thanks for your time with this.
-
Thanks Frequency....i just can't seem to find the filters though in the Advanced Config. I have looked through all the menus...I'm baffled.
-
Ok guys....i saw in the gameex.ini file where it said GAMEFILTERON=TRUE so i changed it to false and now it shows up but can you tell me where in ADVANCED CONFIGURATION in the GUI I can fine tune it because now all the games have extra descriptions behind them in the menus. Thanks. One more thing....do you know why PAC-MAN and Splatter House show up in the Menu as well...I don't have them in my ROM folder.
-
Thanks guys..attached is my gameex.ini file. I wasn't sure where to adjust my filters but I'm pretty sure everything is open. GameEx.txt

Thanks Frequency, Just updated to 11.52 and ran the UPDATE LIST again and it still does not show up. Any other ideas? area51.zip and area51 folder with area51.chd inside of it are all in the rom folder and working when running out of MAME. Thank you. Shawn
-
Hello, I'm running: GameEx 11.51 mameuifx32 .135 I seem to have a problem with the UPDATE LIST in GameEx to pull down all the games. Before I dump all my ROM files and CHD folders in the ROM folder in MAME I started with just a few 3wonders.zip, 4dwarrio.zip, 4enraya.zip and area51.zip and area51 folder with the area51.chd inside. Now, when I run GameEx and run UPDATE LIST i get under ALL MAME GAMES the following: 4 En Raya, 4-D Warriors, PAC-MAN, Splatter House and Three Wonders. FIRST of all I'm not sure where PAC-MAN and Splatter House are coming from. They are not in my ROMS folder at all. SECONDLY, I am baffled as to why Area51 will not show up. I DID run an AUDIT in MameUIFX32 and Area51 showed up and it did run fine out of Mameuifx32 so I know the rom file and CHD files are correct and working. Just can't seem to get it to show up in GAMEEx even after running UPDATE LIST several times and it makes it all the way through...like i said it showed all the other games but not Area51. Am I missing something? Thanks for any assistance. Shawn

Hey guys. Finally got around to messing with the Custom Menu Configuration by going to TEXT/LANGUAGE and enabling CUSTOM. I see where you can change what the menus are called but where can you eliminate certain menus all together. For instance if i DON'T want the MULTIMEDIA menu on the main menu or the LIVE-MAWS or LIGHTGUN GAMES under the MAME menu. I tried making the menu name blank but what that does it makes that not appear and also all the menus beneath it disappear as well. Problem #2 I have it that everytime GameEx starts the menu that it lands on is MOST PLAYED first. I want it to start on the very top menu item which is MAME. Any suggestions? I appreciate any help. Thank you, Shawn
-
Ahhhh...first change it to CUSTOM then the sequential pages will change then I will see all options to adjust. Thanks a bunch...makes sense now. Shawn
-
Currently running: GameEx 11.51 and BlackGlass Theme I read through the FAQ and saw this "You do this in the configuration application under Text/Language. NOTE: In order for it to work and have GameEx use this text, make sure you set the Language used to "CUSTOM"." where to go but was still not exactly clear how to ADD/REMOVE/MODIFY the text when GameEx first opens. I first see MAME, MOST PLAYED, EMULATED GAMES, FAVORITES, SEARCH, etc. Say I want to remove search. First off...how do I know which .ini in GameEx\Config folder that GameEx is using? I see a GameEx.default.ini and a Gameex.ini etc? Do I go into one of these and simply delete a line or add a line? Also when GameEx first opens it starts on the MOST PLAYED line item....how can I get it to start on MAME? Also under the MAME menu item there are items like 4 player simultaneous/Live- MAWS/Light Gun, etc Can I remove these extras as well? Thank you for any help. Shawn

It shouldn't be this hard should it?...still not working. Here's what I did...So i grabbed the EXITSCREENSAVER.WAV out of the "Default - Galaxian\MEDIA" which should be a legit wav file. Plays in WMP just fine. There is no INTROSOUND.WAV file in my "Default - Media Center - Background V1" folder so I make a MEDIA folder and rename the EXITSCREENSAVER.WAV to INTROSOUND.WAV and dump it in. I also overwrite the INTROSOUND.WAV file in the "Default - Default" MEDIA folder with this new INTROSOUND.WAV (exitscreensaver.wav) file. I start up GameEx and I still get that darn default GameeX startup sound. Where the heck is it hiding so I can overwrite that sum bit**. I have followed the instructions submitted by others but that isn't working. Thanks for any additional help.
-
Thanks....where do I find the themes. Is it a sticky?
-
My problem is that the THEME I am running "Default - Media Center - Background V1" has no MEDIA folder in it SO... i've tried adding a MEDIA folder and putting my introsound.wav file in that theme. - Didn't work - still pulling the default sound. i've tried replacing my introsound.wav with the introsound.wav file in the "Default - Default" MEDIA folder - Didn't work - still pulling the default sound from somewhere. What am I missing? Thanks.
