  1. Will Mame and GameEX look much better on a computor screen then my 1986 arcade monitor. I am debating on weather to use a monitor or arcade screen. Any thoughts?
  2. Tom, I'm not positive on my screens resolution but it is not a vertical monitor. So would I still set the res at 640x288? I really appreciate your help. Thanks, Kuip
  3. Anyone, I have my full mame system with GameEX completely working on my comp. Now I put it in my cab and am going to hook it up to my 1986 Wells Gardener Monitor. I have the ArcadeVGA from Ultimarc. Can anyone give me instructions on how to do this hook up or a site with detailed instructions. Do I use GameEX's config at all? Do I use Tom's "set arcadeVGA res tool"? What order do I do everything in? I was hoping to just hook it up, load the drivers and let mame set the reselutions, but I dont think it is that cut and dried. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Kuip

    GameEX slow

Tom, Maybe I can post my log soon. I dont think it is the sound driver. I have the right driver installed, plus my music plays fine when using jukebox. The buttons are fine, its just that GameEX is slow. When I move up and down, the game title and snaps take a second to come into view. Like the game title that drops from the top of the screen, it drops slowly. I can only scroll through games at a slow rate as well. Lastly, jukebox is totaly off. I dont mean to complain, just thought I would let you know. Thanks for everything you do. Kuip

    GameEX slow

Anyone have any ideas why GameEX would run slow. I had it working fine, untill I installed WMP 10 and now it is slow. I went back to WMP9 but it is still slow. I read Toms post about possible reasons its slow but I have the right drivers, and my snaps are unzipped. The buttons are slow and unresponsive. I just dont understand. It has to do with the jukebox. Anytime my GameEX is capable of recognizing songs it runs slow, even if I turn Jukebox off. Im lost.
  6. Thank you so much! This worked. You are the man.
  7. I realize this may not be the place to ask this, so for that I apologize, but maybe someone will know. I am going crazy. I am using Mame and my street figher games do not have buttons 5 and 6 for player 2. Dose anyone know how to reconfigure mame so that I have all six buttons for player 2. Nothing on the keyboard is giving me medium kick (5) or heavy kick (6) for player 2. Thanks
  8. Tom, I removed sp2 and everything is working great right now. Except for Jukebox. For some reason GameEX will not recognize my music and I have the latest version of Windows Media Player. Jukebox always reads, "NO MUSIC FOUND." My settings in the configuration are right and I have tried many different things. I know your busy and cant figure this one out right now but I just thought I would let you know where I stand. Thanks
  9. Can anyone tell me how GameEX looks on an old arcade monitor. I have a 1986 Double Dribble cab that I refinished and am placing my mame system with GameEX into. I am debating on weather I will use this arcade monitor found in the cab and hook up with an Arcade VGA card, or place a regular pc monitor into the cab. I just wondered how GameEX works on older monitors with the limitations they have. I hear however that mame will look better and more original on an arcade monitor. Any input is appreciated. Thanks
  10. I also set GameEX to "Dont wait for VSYNC" which has eliminated the screen flickering, however, GameEX still runs slow. The hard drive that Mame and GameEX are on is quite full. Is it possible that the program dosn't have enough rescources to run. I dont know?
  11. Still having trouble. GameEX will not work properly. I installed the latest drivers. I have the newest version of GameEX. I have the newest Windows Media Player and Direct X. The games themselves are working but it is just the front end that is not running good. Anyone with similar issues or any inputs is greatly appreciated. Im about ready to throw the comp out the window, lol.
  12. If I format I loose all 80gig of music and mame Right?
  13. Anyone else out there with a screen flickering issue using Windows XP SP2. Game EX worked fine with SP1 but not anymore. Now its choppy and slow. Also, If someone knows how to uninstall Service Pack 2, please let me know. When SP2 was installed it erased my system restore points. Thanks
  14. I uninstalled Service Pack 2 for Windows XP and GameEx is now working great again. Except, jukebox dose not work unless I am using Service Pack 2. GameEX will not recognize my music, let alone play any music. So my options are either use Service Pack 1 with no music or Service Pack 2 with music but a system that crashes and is choppy. Help!!!!!!
  15. Tom, I have attached my log. I am running Windows XP. I think my system was fine until I put on Service pack 2. I have an AMD 2600 processor with 512mb ram. The flicker isnt bad, its just that everything is slow and very un-responsive. Thank you for your help log.txt
  16. Joey and Tom, I have been having the same screen flickering problem. GameEx was working fine and then windows was updated. From then on my GameEx flickers, and gets choppy and slow. I dont know what the problem could be. Windows and all the other programs work fine except for GameEx. Once and a while the screen will freeze up on me. Any help would be appreiciated.
