Hello, dusting off the arcade cab and starting with a fresh PC. It's been about 6yrs since my last build. I'm using vanilla mame .151 and the latest version of game ex. Here is my issue: when I exit a mame game with the esc key it also auto-exit's game ex. I have game ex setting to disable exit with esc key but it still persists. Any suggestions? Also what is a good alternative to regular mame if I'm using .151 set?

Registered a copy of GameEx about a year and a half ago but my pc died on me so I am now having to start over and set everything up again. My problem is that I don't remember what to do with the registration file that Tom sent me after I made a donation. I made a backup copy of the registration file but I just dont know what to do with it. A step by step would be greatly appreciated, thanks. I sent Tom an email about it but just in case he's busy maybe you guys can help me out. Wow its been awhile, when I registered GameEx it was only at version 5.77

My 2 LCD TopGuns work perfect using the latest guncon2 drivers and the current version of mame. Not the easiest to setup and you will probably run into a problem or two while setting them up but they do work great. No, you are not alone. I've just never tried to fix it. I just turn my speaker volume down ( yeah I'm lazy) when I get a zinc game thats too loud. Can't you get to the service menu in zinc games like pressing F2 in mame? You can usually adjust each game's volume that way.

to those of you running epsxe - are you able to play time crisis with a light gun? I have the LCD Topgun and I wonder if I can use it.

The virtual_key code for 't' is 84. But if you are using an ipac with a 4 player cab make sure that 't' isn't used. Make sure that no keys are used twice as well. I have a similar setup as you and I noticed that 'L' and 'k' where being used twice in the default setup of winipac. So I used 't' and 'c' to make those changes. -Sty151- theres an extra conversion that isnt mentioned, something with hexadecimal values i dont really understand enought to explain. But anyway if you give me the key you want to use (it has to be a key not used in mame), then i can give you the value that you need to use to make it work.

ok nevermind about the "exit" icon, i found the disable option for that in the config. But what about the "home" icon?? Is it possible to disable that as well? and how?

Is there a way to disable the "Home" and "Exit" icons on the upper right corner of the screen? When I am navigating and scrolling with the joystick it always ends up there by mistake and exits GameEx or takes me back to the start page if either icon is selected.

Well I fixed it. Problem was that I have a 4-player cab and "L" is being used so the default value of 76 doesn't work. I thought I was supposed to use the scan codes supplied in GameEx but Headkaze cleared that up for me, thanks. Since I am using "End" instead of "p" for "pause" in mame, I used the virtual-key code for "P" which is "80" btw and now it works fine.

Well I don't use "P" for mame. I am using "End" for pause. So can someone tell me what the virtual key code for "P" is?

I think the default key is 76 and according to the scan codes that is 5 on the number pad right? Ive also tried setting it to 25 which is P on the scan codes if I am not mistaken. I just can't get the panel viewer to come up in-game. Ive tried using the keyboard itself instead of buttons on my control panel and it doesn't do a thing.

The panel viewer works inside gameEx but it does not show up in-game. Tried to assign other keys to it but still no luck.

Just edit your prefences in media player. Go to options and the media library tab and click on the button that says "monitor folders" , then add your USB hard drive or folder of choice to that location. If your music now shows up in meida library of windows media player then just set your jukebox in gameex to use windows media player and it all should work.
