  1. This is awesome! I never had the MAME emulator work in Gamex, but Arcade did. I didn't know why, just annoyed me. Finding this post, I disabled MAME (also saw i had it configured for mame.exe but i use mame64.exe but ditched this anyway) and just let the built in Mame in Gameex work, and now happy!
  2. So curious then. My son was just saying he'd like to do custom folders. I run the arcade edition, but what is the difference in them all? I can't really tell. I'd rather have the version to support all emu's and controllers like the arcade edition can, but if the Evolution version can do more, I'd buy that too.
  3. I don't even see in the log attempting to launch the emulator. Can you try a few different emulator game launches then ote time and paste log again?
  4. Thanks @Draco1962 So here is what I found as I was getting some data for you to review and help with. Since I have been trying different emu's, I have them already downloaded and extracted in the c:\emulators\XXXX folder. I noticed that in the config wizard for the emu, when I select the path when adding the EMU in the wizard, I browse to: c:\emulators\fusion364 (but I now know that GameEx wants just the parent folder, c:\emulators\ as I caught it creating the sub folder inside that and putting that in the config. I had to go and remove the extra folder path. Here is me selecting the path to the already downloaded retroarch emu: Now after I finished that, here is the config wizard, you can see it appended the emulator name to the end of the path I already picked: So it was and still is confusing to me, the Default Paths when adding new emulators, should be more clear to say "pick your parent emu path, NOT the folder containing your emu" (or something, but you get the idea). You can also see the ROM Path did the same, in the wizard I browsed to the actual ROM folder holding my Genesis games, but the wizard silently added a subfolder at the end of that named "Sega Genesis". Mystery solved, and I will surely remember now. I know why it create the folder for the emulator, b/c it can also then download the emulator itself, but it's just not clear that it doesn't want the actual emulator or rom folder containing the files. Hope this helps someone else!
  5. Just recently added Genesis and tried both Fusion and GENS+. The emulator outside GameEx works fine, full screen etc. However, in GameEx, when i launch the titles, it blinks like it is loading the emulator, but then takes me right back to the GameEx menu to select a game. Not sure what else to try, tried several emu's, all do similar. MAME and NES, SNES seem fine. ANy clues? EDIT: I see i missed the forum i tried to post in, can't seem to delete this either.
  6. Exactly. After staring at things forever, I often call my peers and go over it on the phone and usually that is when it comes to me and I figure it out, just talking it out gets the mind flowing! All good, working great.
  7. I have what I think is the right config to exit on ESC (note I am not pressing ESC on teh keyboard though, I am using joy buttons, which EDIT: Ok, so you got me looking in the ini. Lead me back to the GUI config. The emulator itself wont' exit with a button, but I did see in the Emulator setup, the Map back key was set, then digging more, I found the GameEx custom input for Joystick global back, and it was a weird combo, so I changed to my "back" button I use for GameEx and it now exits the emulator. I guess since MAME always worked, I never messed with this setting til I dug deep. Soo....yeah, thanks for the response Draco, you got me to do some more digging at least!
  8. I can't seem to get FCE to return me to GameEx when done like MAME does. Are all console emulators similar to this issue adn I need to have a keyboard present? MAME is perfect.
  9. Thanks for the input guys. I decided in teh end to just move my bottom row of buttons to the top to line up with the image/layout. I'll work more on this once the rest of the cabinet is fully working.
  10. Ok, so it seems this feature of displaying the cpanel layout is driven by cpwizard if I understand. Also, the output file controls.ini is designed for button layout of: 1 2 3 4 5 6 Are those safe assumptions?
  11. Thanks! However, where is it designated that the upper left button is "button1" in the controls.ini? I rather not move my buttons physically to match up with 1 in upper left since right now my 1 is in lower left. I could also edit the controls.ini to swap all JOY_BTN1 with BTN4 etc..but don't want that to update in the future. That make sense?
  12. Hi guys, so the control panel layout image is a great idea taht pops up before the MAME rom loads. However, I guess my buttons were "designed/installed" backwards. I have 4,5,6 on top, and 1,2,3 on bottom. My layout: 4-5-6 1-2-3 All the buttons work if remapped, but for instance, Zaxxon, has 1 button to fire with. The pop up image shows button 4 as "Fire", when in fact I have to press button 1. So, where does Gameex get the layout as to what button is 1 or 5 etc?
