well i finally hooked up my mame pc to my cab, using a billabs, http://www.billabs.com/bl27cb0p.htm with an avga card. looks f'n incredible at 1024x768. only issue is the avga uses such an old gpu that the 3d transitions have to be disabled. Nice to have Avga settings built into the front end though. I will be working on making a theme, since i am going with a transformers theme, Galaga green t-molding, so it will be a constructicon theme. Great work on this front end\extender, well worth the $20. Got a question though, i have a large audio collection on my system, as i use it as a juke box, what are the file playback limitations? as none of my MSN music plays? From what i understood it uses media player to play the songs, if it plays in WMP 10 shouldnt it play in Gameex? I will post pics later, Cp is not built yet but 90% of the cab is finished.

I would always recomend not letting gameex verify roms, thats what clrmamepro is for and it helps fix issues too. Speeds up making the gamelist 4x.

I keep getting an error "palett_get_color out of range" when i make Mng files. Does anyone know how to get this not to happen as i would like to make a clean set. Also is there a way to set the mng encoding options when capturing videos?

Does no one know or is this a dumb question that no one feels needs to be answered?

I undertand streaming drm wouldnt be possible with this software, DRM is a bitch over a network as thats what i test at work all day long at work. But if the files are played on the host i dont see why gameEx wont play them. I recently purchased GameEx and would love to be able to use my rhapsody music on my cab.

Is it possible to get the video maker that you have built into gameEx to use other codecs? i would really like to make a set of high quality divx files for use in gameex in the game selection area. I would like to have sound with the video and MNG doesnt seam to support this. Also the red. feature actually puts the words REC in the file that is made at times, and one last thing, when making movies it often states pallet is wrong, now i think this is mame, but is there anyway to prevent this while you make the movies?

Hello there, i have recently tried to create new mng movie files but there seams to be a bug. It only creates ones for 85% of the neo geo titles, and with no sound at that. Is there anyway to get this to make all the MNG files? Also the cature performance seams to be really slow. How is it capturing the files? on the fly, which would cause serious issues, or by frame? Is it not possible to have gamex control the frame rate in mame and the capture speed so they synch?

you have to rotate the desk top, which under normal video cards doesn't work at 640x480, but with the AVGA it works. So all you need to do is rotate the desk top/ windows. Then set you Gui resolution at 480x640 in game-ex. If you try this with any other video card game-ex will crash out to the desk top. now if you are using a pc monitor or this http://www.billabs.com/bl27ca1k.htm you can rotate the desktop/game-ex because you can have a desk top of 1024x768, which seams to be the min. for normal video cards in windows xp.

while attempting to get through my music files i noticed that the page down button does not function. The page up does just fine but for some reason the page down doesnt work on any menu, mame either. This would be very helpful in mame as scrolling through 5000 games could take a bit. i know there are the arrows on the lower corner but i would love to just have keys set on my control panel. Also i noticed if you use larger than normal font, the fonts get corrupted. get wakey text parts around the text. i am liking this front end more and more now that i can use it rotated with an avga card. Like having both my machines match. Just finding little glitches here and there, which i wil post here. Keep up the good work Tom.

I use Rhapsodiy and MSN music, none of the files from these two online music outlets works. I can play any self ripped music from my own cd collection as long as i do not use drm on them. Is this a bug or by design. I would love this fron end to work with these to music outlets. any chance of this hapening?

sorry if this is a duplicate post but when i have movies active for the mame screen shots, and i highlight a game with a video for it, the front end minimizes or goes to a black screen where i can hear the video playing. can anyone help, i have 900 mame videos i would like to use but no way to use them . BTW what a kickass front end, to bad i cant use it in my vert machine too .
