I have been following this and curious about how your PC to video and audio configuration (i.e., PC to TV monitor and built-in speakers or passthrough to soundbar or other external speakers? If the latter, how connected - 9mm patch, TOSLink, etc.?).

    Also, is this issue resolved?

I have 2 TVs plugged in to the video card. (HDMI cables)  Sound is coming from the playfield TV.

YES, my issues at the moment have been solved.

The other 36 FX3 tables I have added load very fast but for some reason "BALLY_BlackRose" takes about 2 minutes.

While I am at it, Is there a place to get the table info for a FX3 table I buy? I have the "Epic Quest" FX3 table but I can't locate the info for it to add it to PinballX.

As for my second question about "Epic Quest" The issue was the table name. I knew it was something simple. Not sure why they can't stick with one name! But on some tables they just don't. Looter is the name used for that table.

    Excellent find!! 👍

That would be the cause. Launch audio should really be only a few seconds.

I have looked for the cause of the "loading time" issue everyday for weeks now. The odd thing is the audio only played for about 4 seconds during the almost 2 minutes it took for that table to load. I could not let go of the fact PinballY loaded the table fine and it also loaded fine using the command line. So I figured it had to be something in PBX causing the delay. After about 45 seconds of the 2 minute load time the playfield screen went blank so I did not think it was a loading video file causing the issue so then I looked at the loading audio file for that table and when I seen it was almost 2 minutes long I thought that must be the cause. First because there was a loading audio file with that table name and because it was almost 2 minutes long. So I added a "B" in front of the name so it would stay where it was in the list but also the name would be changed so it could not be found when the table was loading. I launched the table and it loaded right away. I went back and removed the "B" and loaded the table and it took almost 2 minutes to load. So I went back and added the "B" and again the table loaded right away. So that had to be the issue with the delay in loading.

One thing is for sure....I was not going to give up until I or someone else could tell me what was going on with the loading time for that one table. It was not a easy find for sure. But, looking back it makes since now in a way and I have learned something I may need in the future as well. So it's all good.

There is a tool called Database manager, and this can add all the tables from FX3.
But not per pack. All the tables are downloaded by steam and are on your harddrive.
So, Not aware which tables you purchased or not.

Database manager, can auto add them (like a new file) to your xml file with the correct name.
this tool can be found in the download section

The FX3 table I can't locate the .xml file for is "Epic Quest".

Also I have a update on the "BALLY_BlackRose" loading time issue.

The issue was related to the "LAUNCH AUDIO" for that table. The launch audio "BALLY_BlackRose.ogg" file is 1:58 long and my guess is that it plays that file before it loads the table. I changed the name (so it would not play) and the "BALLY_BlackRose" table loaded in seconds, This resolved the issue.

Have a look at the LOG to see the results.

Would you agree I found the issue?

Yeah, it's odd that it is launching in a couple of seconds from command line.
I think it launches that quick in PinballX as well, but PBX doesn't switch over (but thats my assumption)
So I think it is launched quickly, but it is behind the PinballX loading screen (or something)

The other 36 FX3 tables I have added load very fast but for some reason "BALLY_BlackRose" takes about 2 minutes.

Info is right. It's about the table name "BALLY_BlackRose".

This is correct in tbe log and we tested the single command line as well

Would you agree it is odd that it works fine in PinballY but not in PinballX?

Ok, so pinballx doesn't detect   that pinball fx3 proces is running and takes a while

    @Tom Speirs any ideas ?

I should note that a few weeks ago when I was trying to set my system up again from a hard drive update (installed a larger drive) I installed PinballY and All of my FX3 tables loaded fine when running PinballY. But I figured out my issues with PinballX and that is what I am using now. PinballY was just a test to see if the issues were with steam or just my setup. Clearly it is with something in my setup because everything loads fine in PinballY.

Does this look right? (see text flile attached) I was trying to find the same info in PinballY to compare it but I have no clue where it is at.

I see in your log it is indeed taking a long time before fx3 founds it's process

I just tested myself black rose, and it is starting in the same time as another FX3 game

    05:46:48.81 20-7-2023: C:\Pinball\Tools\PBX Tools\StartScripts\PinballX_FX3_start.cmd
    05:46:48.89 20-7-2023: C:\Pinball\Tools\PBX Tools\Launchers\FX3Launcher\PinballFX3Launcher.exe "-table_BALLY_BlackRose"
    05:47:00.41 20-7-2023: Found Pinball FX 3 Process
05:49:27.67 20-7-2023: Exit System Control Pressed

It takes 12 second (including the selection of the amount of players and select arcade/normal game)

Just curious : If you open a command prompt (cmd.exe) and run the following command :

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe -applaunch 442120 "-table_BALLY_BlackRose"

will it take that amount of time as well to load the to the table, or is it much faster ?

And your setup is fine. The only difference is, I set my timeout to 13 seconds (and yours is set to 20 seconds, but that should not be the issue)

No Luck this is what I got.

I am looking forward to what you can find out.

    Thanks for your help.

Ah...  man , I'm getting too old to understanding English.

    As Draco mentioned

Log file is in your <pinballx install dir>\log\log.txt and the config file <pinballx install dir>\config\pinballx.ini

    log.txt PinballX.ini

    Here you go. Thanks

Oh and I was able to update PinballX to the latest version.

Its explained completly in the manual

Not sure either, i will check my black rose. Otherwise post yout log file and your settings fille

Can you tell me the file names and where to find them and I will share them.  Thanks!

  12. How do I update PinballX?

    I am running windows 10

    Cabinet setup with 2 screens.

Running PinballX 4.13 at the moment

Playing Future Pinball and FX3 tables.

    Also a second question...

I am running STEAM for the FX3 tables.

What might be causing the FX3 table "BlackRose" to take 2 minutes to load?

My other 35 FX3 tables load in like 8 seconds.

Didn't understand what you exactly wanted to accomp6ish with the word "play"

But now I think I do.

You can also do it the other way : all tables are playable, except for some.

In my cabinet I added a unicode character in the description name.

So i have 'under construction', ' work in progress etc

    Unicode.png.804fd6ae78c2ab96093ed14757137f13.png.16b98997e715b8ed702ac95fe3010106.png

You can filter er on those as well.

But maybe Tom wants to add a free text field as you requested as well.

Hummm... Are the stars one of those unicode images?

  14. How about a way to tell if I have a table that is playable or if I don't have it setup yet or just using it as background for the attract mode?

I tried using the "YEAR" field and just adding the word "PLAY" meaning if I see the word PLAY then I know I have that table and can launch it. However it looks like only numbers can be used in the "YEAR" field.

I photoshopped the word PLAY in this screenshot I took of my playfield as an example of a table I can launch and play.

There may be another option I am not aware of. If so Please advise.

I thought you mean that FX3 systems shows 180 tables.
It is just adding 26 tables from FX3 that you don't have in your list.
I never check my "all systems", as that contains 1200+ tables :P
I use filters and systems to separate

Yeah I am sure glad I had selected FX3 and not all.  LOL I would be in really bad shape if I had selected all that is for sure.  LOL wait that is not a bit funny!  lol

Sorry, no video how to use it, but a lot you can adjust in the settings ( auto add etc)

If its auto add and you have 183 tables , you properly have "obsolete " tables as well.

With advanced search, you can properly search on the latest added.

By default, you will be asked if you want to add tables and if you want to save your database file

I don't see any errors in your logfile, so nothing that PinballX couldn't not handle.

Can you zip the following directories and post them :

    pinballx\databases

    Pinballx\media\pinballx fx3

i will check your database file and your media on my pc

Ok working on that right now. I will load it as soon as it is done zipping.

    Thanks for the help.

  17. Oh Boy I did it again.  I went from 103 tables to 183 tables. This seams to happen when I try to use "PinballX Database Manager". I clearly have no clue how to use it.  It seams to add tables I don't  own or even have the images for. So now I got myself a bigger mess to sort out. "errrrrr"

Is there a video on how to properly use PinballX Database Manager?

Ok. Think I understand your issue

So the aliens from fx3 (i think I saw multiple) didn't display a playfield and showed also the previous image (atm) from the frontend ?

Can you post your log.txt file after the issue occurred ?

If possible, can you run a 'media audit' from Databasemanager,  paste the output into a notepad and post that file as well ?

Are the medias showing fine outside the frontend, so via gamemanger or Databasemanager?

I think this is the log file your are requesting.
