  1. In the Advanced Configuration some of the emulator buttons have names as well as their respective numbers. I would like to know if there is possible to change the names?? Like changing MadDog McCree to something else?? Thanx...
  2. Ok, I think I have managed to get the rom files but how do I point mess to them?? Should I keep them zipped or what??
  3. Hi there guys. This one is strictly speaking not a GameEx question but I will try anyhow. Im trying to set up MESS emulator outside GemeEx (wanting to get mess running on its own first). Im using MESSUI 0.133 and some SNES roms I have. After setting the rompath and trying to run I get the following message: "spc700.rom NOT FOUND : dsp1data.bin NOT FOUND" and then mess exits... I found on the net the spc700 file but an old version (I think??). Question is: What am I doing wrong?? Where do I find the missing files?? As I understand it I need these bios files or drivers for any system I want to emulate with MESS, right?? Can anyone point me to a (idiotproof) quide on how to set up and configure MESS?? Such a guide seems to be hard to find, at least my google is not finding them for me Help!!
  4. Thanx man!! Now its working like a charm. Wow, is the wife happy to be able to store her process in Super Mario World. GameEx rules!!
  5. Anyone??
  6. Hi guys. Im having a bit of a problem here. Im trying to create and use saves in ZSnes and GameEx. When using the emulator outside GameEx there is no problem at all, the save goes to the right directory (which is located in my ZSnes folder) and if I exit the emulator and run it again the save is there to use. Whole different story if I run the emulator through GameEx. I can use the "save state" option and load the state again but if I exit the game the save is gone... Any idea anyone or is this just something thats not possible under GameEx??
  7. Thanks. I had actually solved the controls problem with the old and trusted method of just installing Mame32UI over the old install. Now everything is fine!! Your method will be tried the next time... I actually like Fusion and ZSnes, very easy to use with X-Arcade and stable. I have set up Project64 but my system is not just there, a bit on the slow and grumpy side for that... I dont know about MESS?? But thanx...!!
  8. Hi. I have a number of questions if anyone can spare the time to answer them First of all I have a small issue with what I think must be my current MAME version. Im using MameUI32 version 0.130 with GE (downloaded a month ago), registered version, and in my cab I use X-Arcade dual joystick, operating system XP. My roms are 0.131. Everything has been running pretty smooth until yesterday. Suddenly some strange thing happened. When playing a MAME game, and pushing the first black button (the default shoot, jump etc. button, in X-Arcade assigned to left control button) a bar appears in the bottom of the screen for adjusting volume and when I move the stick left or right it changes the volume. I tried running a game straight through MAMEUI32 (without GE) and same thing. Just now I tried running a game with command prompt MAME and now it didnt happen. Everything else seems ok, either in MAME games or emulatet games as NES or SNES games. Has anyone ever seen this and knows what is happening??? Ok, then some questions: Wich MAME emulator is best to run under GE?? A command prompt or GUI type?? And how does this compare to the X-Arcade?? Other emulators. Now Im using JNes, Fusion and ZSnes and is quite happy with them. Am I missing something though?? Any recomendations?? Atari 2600, Sinclair Zpectrum, Colecovision, Intellivision. Wich emulator is best under GE?? Can GE run any fruit machine emulators and if so which emulator(s)?? I have folder for box art with NES games and I have set the path. Nothing is showing though?? Thanks and hope someone can be bothered to help me...
  9. Thank you all guys for quick and good answers. Will look at my filters and version of mame....
  10. Hi... Small thing bothering me. I have in my roms folder X number of MAME roms. I have had GameEx scan for new roms but somehow the numbers dont match?? GE reports only around some 60% of the actual number in the rom folder?? Is this because of duplicates?? Any idea??
  11. Hi. I have tried your suggestion but with no luck. I also tried to load some of the roms into the emulator without using GameEx and there they work. I cant find any info on if GameEx supports .smc files?? Do I maybe need to zip each file into its own .7z file?? Any ideas??
  12. Sorry about that. I was in a hurry going somewhere and didnt think it through. Will be more careful in the future. But thanks for your reply, I will try use your suggestion...
  13. Hi there. Im having a bit of a trouble with SNES roms. The files are .smc format and somehow GameEx does not find any games and reports "No Games" when I go into the SNES emulator... I use the *.* filter and have also tried to use *.smc filter with same results. I have tried to place the .7z file in the folder and then GameEx finds the file and when I open it it also finds the games but freezes when I try to load a game from the file.... Any ideas??
