  1. That makes a lot of sense, and It's certainly something I don't mind trying out. ZSNES has an option where it saves SRAM in real time, so I wonder if I just turn that option on, would it save me the hassle of reprogramming everything in the frontend? I'm thinking so. As for Virtual Boy Advance, I still don't understand why it'll save to battery in real time for GB/GBC games, but fails to do so for GBA games... there has to be something else going on there. I'll take a look tonight when I get home and see what happens. Thanks for the help. EDIT: Fixed! For ZSNES, turning on the option to save SRAM in real time worked like a charm, and in VirtualBoy Advance, I just needed to move the battery directory into the ROM directory and it worked. Now, I need to find a version of MAME that runs MK 2 and 3 flawlessly and I'm set. Done. It was a PITA to get these games and all my other games working perfectly, but I did it! I set up MAME 0.78 for the MK ROMs and the 0.135 for the rest of the games. Just made 2 seperate enteries in GameEx.
  2. Just a quick update - I got my Gameboy and Gameboy Color working, but my Gameboy Advance (using the same emulator, albeit a differnt copy) doesn't. ZSNES also refuses to make a save file (it turns out my success in Zelda was only the SRM file from before). I've set all my folders so read-only is disabled, I've made SRM save files in ZSNES, and when I run both emulators externally, I don't have a problem - they find the game, match the SRM file, and I'm good to go. I don't get it...
  3. ::SIGH:: So, I sorta lied. I saved a Zelda save file using the emulator only, then went in using GameEx, deleted the file, created a new file, saved it, exited the FE, re-entered and it was still there. I thought things were ok. Not so much. It didn't work using SMB All Stars, nor did it work in my gameboy emulators.... Im gonna have to tinker around but I don't have the time right now to fix it. All my SEGA stuff works, though.
  4. I would, but I'm not exactly sure what I did; I manually set the BRM directory in Kega to the BIOS directory since the saves are running off of per BIOS, and the others I just launched the emulator externally once and saved a game w/o the FE getting in the way and the emus configured themselves from there... at least, that's what I THINK happened.
  5. Nevermind, I fixed it.
  6. So, I finally got everything up and running the way I wanted it, I fired up Kega Fusion, loaded Lunar, played for an hour, saved my game, shutdown the system, and turned off my machine. Came back an hour or so later, loaded up the game again - no save file. Double checked that Kega was set up correctly, it was, tried it again, no go. Tested ZSNES, loaded up SMB All Stars, finished level 1 of SMB3, saved, exited emulator. Loaded the emu again, loaded SMB again, nothing saved under SMB 3. Tried Zelda, LTTP, same thing. Tried Zelda II in Nestopia, same thing. Tested Mario vs DK in my VirtualGBA, same thing. Anyone have any idea what's going on? I'd rather not use save states, as configuring them to the controller per in-game command would prove to be too cumbersome.
  7. I got it up and running. Just because I didn't point to a MAP file doesn't mean the FE won't use one... So, I cleared it out, and voila, my games are there. As it stands, I'm up and running as close to perfect as I'm gonna get. I'm disabling PS1 emulation because there's too many variables in even the most stable emulators for it to be worthwhile. There's an odd quirk where some of my Atari 7800 games won't run on the emu but only when the controller is enabled - no big deal. Thank you all for your help, especially Frequency - hopefully I can pass on the info when needed.
  8. Thanks to the both of you. I've uploaded my config and map folders to rapidshare at the following link: Config & Map Folders I'll take a look at the CPS files and see if I can't figure this out on my own, now that I have an idea where to start. Again, thanks for all the help! EDIT: So, I looked at the MAP file for Kawaks and I see how I need to edit the roms to match what's in my directories. My problem is, is that I have a CPS I button and a CPS II button inside GameEx that use the same Emu. Is there a way to differentiate between the two when choosing in GameEx, or am I going to have to set up 2 seperate emulators for this?
  9. Off the top of my head (I'm at work), I'm not using using a MAP file of any sort. Essentially, what I did was the same thing I did for my Neo Geo section (although now I have reservations about how that one is set up too, seeing as how it's also using it's own copy of Kawaks and I haven't looked into it too much) - I created 2 separate directories for CPS I & CPS II, and in those directories I placed the ROMs that I wanted into them. In addition, I set up Kawaks in it's own directory to run the CPS I & II games. Both of the entries in GameEx are set to run off of that one emulator, but should be accessing their own particular directory of ROMs to pull from. However, whenever I launch either the CPS I or CPS II option inside of GameEx, it brings up a list of 200+ games, when I should only have around 30-40. From what I can tell, it lists every CPS I, II, and Neo Geo game to choose from, and I have no idea how it's coming up with that list, since the "full" set of Kawaks roms is somewhere in the 300's (I checked). So I'm really baffled as to where GameEx is pulling these ROMs from, as I believe that to be the source of my problems. I get home later tonight, if you need some config files, let me know and I'll post them asap. Thanks again.
  10. Frequency, if you're reading this and have an answer, my thanks in advance - I owe you a ton for helping me out with this. Here goes. I finally got everything configured to my liking, fired it up and when I launch my CPS I or CPS 2 option (they're both tied to the same emulator, kawaks), gameex shows a list of every game Kawaks supports, not the ones that I have (I stripped down all the clone files). Is there any way for gameex to show what I have in my directories as opposed to what it supports? I've checked all the settings and I'm at a loss. It's this and somehow getting my epsxe emulator to boot directly to the cd drive and I'm done. Thanks!
  11. Perfect. Thanks again!. I'm down to trying to get ePSXe to boot to the CD Rom drive and configuring some 100 MAME games for my controller and I'm good to go!. EDIT: Just saw that you're in Albuquerque. I'm in Rio Rancho and was born and raised in Alb. Thanks for helping a fellow Albuquerque-ian!
  12. First off, thank you all for the help I've received thusfar. I only have a couple of little quirks to work out, and the emustation will be complete. One of those quirks has to do with the ProSystem emulator for the 7800. Whenever I initially load a game, the menu bar is at the top of the screen. Pressing the button I have mapped to escape takes me out of the emulator, and if I load the game again, the menu bar is gone. That's becasue the menu display is also set to ESC in the emulator itself. So when I go in a 3rd time, having pressed escape again to get out of the program, the bar is back. Is there any way I can resolve this? Thanks again for your help.
  13. Man, that almost seems too simple to pass over. Thanks again!
  14. This is exactly what I did. Works great. I didn't even have to list a wait time for it to launch correctly. Now I can use the actual CDs, too.
  15. Nevermind, I think I have an idea... I take it back. My idea was to have the front end launch the emulator, while at the same time inserting a hotkey into GameEx to immediately launch the Sega CD. The problem with this, is that the FE doesn't allow me to launch the emulator w/o a game selected. I suppose I could create a dummy file, since all I'm doing is granting access to the emulator, but I'm not at home to test all of this. Any ideas are appreciated.
  16. Hi all, I've searched as many threads as I could possibly think of that had to do with my specific issue, but I couldn't find anything that would offer any help. What I'm wanting to do is to have the ability to launch KEGA Fusion through GameEx but have it boot directly to the SegaCD portion, so that I can play whatever disc I have in my drive (I only have an 80GB HDD for my system, so ISO+MP3s are not really feasable at the moment). In addition, I want to be able to keep Genesis/SMS/GG compatibility at the same time, so that I can play carts as I see fit. Is this at all possible, and if so, how do I do it? Thanks.
  17. Yeah, it can be, but storage space for 100+ CDs on the Sega CD alone (forget TG-16, Neo-Geo CD, and 3D0 Cds) requires more HDD space than I currently have. Oh well, guess it's time to upgrade...
  18. Thanks for the fast response. What I'm trying to do is use an actual, physical Sega CD game that's in drive D: to launch when I run the emulator. I could make an iso and mount it, I have no problems doing that, but I have over 100 Sega CD games that I'd have to be constantly mounting and unmounting, so using the physical CD would be easier for me. I just don't know how to do that in GameEx.
  19. Hello all, I purchased GameEx some months ago, and installed it onto a dedicated PC that auto launches into the GameEx interface and is run by my controller. My question is, is when attempting to play a Sega CD game, GameEx looks for an iso file instead of booting to the cd. I am using Kega Fusion 3.52. I was wondering if there is any actual CD support for Fusion, and if so, how to enable it? If not, are there any plans for this feature in the future? I tried browsing through the forums, but I kept getting 200 results in the search so I hope this hasn't been answered before, and if it has, my apologies.
  20. Got a workaround, thanks! I mapped the ESC key to the 10 button that I never use.
  21. Yeah, I saw the article once I woke up this morning. The problem is, is that I've pressed every combination possible, and nothing seems to take... out of curiosity, what ini file do I have to edit/reset to enable this feature? I'm working with Pinnacle now, I'll see how that goes...
  22. I tried every combination of Y,A,Bumpers and U/L, but nothing happened. There's gotta be something I'm doing wrong...
  23. .. but I'm super tired and have spent about 2+ hours configuring GameEx for the first time to set it up with the emulators I have. My question is: Is there a way to map certain keys on my xbox360 controller to exit the emulators instead of hitting escape? I'd like it to be a global setting, but I can't seem to figure it out. I've read the faq and i don't think it's in there. Like I said, however, Im really tired and I just want to get this one last issue resolved before I go to sleep. Thank you all.
