  1. Ok, thanks. Will check out using lists.
  2. Thanks Scutters, I will take a look at the manual and see what's possible there. Mike, I would like to create a "Zen Studios" as you suggest but only for grouping of the tables within DBX, I still want individual table launches. For me, the Zen tables have a different feel than the other emulators so I get into a Zen-Mode and just want to play them for a while. So if I have that system setup, when I select the "Zen Studios" wheel image I get the list with all the Zen tables within DBX, same as for my VP and FP wheels. I can always get to the all tables list using the options within PBX when launching a table. That make sense?
  3. I have PinballX setup where each Emulator has its own list of games; ie PBX starts up and you see a wheel for Pinball FX3, Pinball FX, VP, and FP. I've read where you can create list within VP based upong a variety of things, manu, year, decade, etc. What I want is different than that, though I suspect it's been done. I'm after 2 potential things. 1. Can you create a list of games, like "My Favorites", that includes games from multiple emulators? 2. Similar to above, but what if I want to simply combine Pinball FX3 and Pinball FX (and possibly Pinball M) into a single list? LIke a STEAM list. If its possible to do either one of these, how/where would the list show up? Just as another selectable item on the same wheel as above? That would be cool. Maybe this is a PinballX DB Manager capability for me to learn? I just finally upgraded from a very old version of PinballX and that tool wasn't available on my system when I got it. Thanks
  4. I need to go and check on that. I turned UAC off, but wondering if by running PBX as admin, maybe I don't need to. My background is UNIX, not Windows so there are things that elude me with Windows.
  5. Looks like it. I also ran into issues getting the display set properly and downloaded the nice toold for setting screen_res.txt. That worked great once I figured out how it worked with my setup. Then it kept getting screwed up whenever I would launch VP via PinballX, found on this forum to turn off the auto b2s setting and that is now solved too. I'm crossing my fingers that after a couple of reboots the display don't move, Windows 10 is solid and things play well. THEN, its time to figure out getting VPX on my setup without touching the VP 9 "stuff". I want them totally separate. Need to take a break now. Thanks for the help and the push to move forward too. It's one of the main reasons I'm sticking with PinballX vs some of the other frontends out there.
  6. Oddly enough, my old ini always had 70 on them, tried 27 this morning and no change. I just updated to the latest version o PBX 10 minutes ago, I hadn't done that previously as 4.13 was the one that worked best with my setup and Windows 7. So, it looks like I needed to set RUN_AS_ADMINISTRATOR on PinballX, even with the new version, but VP is exiting properly now from PBX. I also modified the sound settings in VP 9 and got the sound static to go away. I think this all has to do with the Windows 10 Upgrade. Thanks, D
  7. Files attached. The emulators seem to fine fine. For VP 9 I have to quit the tables using "Q" on a keyboard, go to VP Editor and shut VP down there. Then PBX comes back up and works fine. The sound when playing a VP 9 table also has a bit of static that I don't recall before but that's a separate issue. As for the VP installation directory, that's an ongoing issue I know. I bought this cabinet from somebody else and am trying to update and fix some things as I go. I tried to reinstall VP 9 into another folder (c:\\vPinball for instance), but there are things that are installed and configured that integrate with VP 9 on my cabinet that I can't seem to redo and get right. Trying to simply keep the VP 9 setup running as I'm not adding tables to it. Trying to install VPX and get it up and running now too. The other issue I'm dealing with right now is it seems like almost every time I restart Windows 10, my display setup changes and which affects PBX, but not other software configs oddly. Again, another problem to deal with, but you may see some oddities in the PinballX.ini as it pertains to the displays. log.txt PinballX.ini
  8. Not sure what's goin on here, I double-checked PBX and everything is working great for the other emulators (FP, PFX3), but with VP 9.x it won't exit when I hit the ESC button as before. Within VP configs I have ESC disabled so it won't bring up the VP diaglog box when you try to quit a game. I did notice if I hold down the ESC key for a few seconds, VP exists. Interesting though since I do not have setting under PBX that allows holding the ESC key to Exit Emulator. One thing I did was turn off UAC on Win 10 as the cabinet setup I bought has all the VP 9.x stuff in /Programs which causing Win to ask if it's OK for VP to make changes every time it's launched. Help ....
  9. I did see that post thanks. I'll tinker a bit more, but may just not play the tables that have the pixel issues too much. Been looking through the Zen Pinball forums too. I did send something in through their support, we'll see what I get back.
  10. Posting this in the wrong forum, but figure somebody here has bumped into this too possibly and can point me in the right direction. I was able to get FX3 running nicely on my 3-screen cabinet setup with PinballX. Everything is functioning very well. However, I'm finding that while almost all the Future Pinball and Visual Pinball tables are running fine generally, a number of the FX3 tables have quite a bit of pixelating going on, especially in the gray and red areas. The worst ones are Marvel Ant Man, all three Alien-based ones and some of the Stars Wars tables. The Williams tables have none of these issues I don't think. Its not all of the Marvel or Star Wars tables though. It's really odd. I don't see any pixelation occurring on any of the other emulators. This problem occurs whether I launch through PinballX via STEAM or directly in STEAM. Tried a few video mod adjustments within FX3, but no luck. Did some SLIGHT tinkering with the nVidia video, but not much. Worried about doing something that will negatively impact many other tables to possibly fix a few. Anybody see anything like this and figured out what's causing it? Any ideas on what to look at? Running on an older VPCab, Windows 7, 2 video cards, 3 displays, very good performance for a system that may be >8 years old or so. Again, it works well for the other emulators, though I'm not running VPX yet which may be closer in performance requirements to FX3 from some reading. And its a minority of the FX3 tables being affected. Thanks, David
  11. I’m sure I’ll start exploring other parts of the ecosystem soon and try other emulators that may require an upgrade and/or use of current features I’m sure unaware of. Incredible how much help there is! Reminds me of why I like this community and the Pinball hobby in-general, be it virtual or physical. cheers!
  12. Go it, thanks Mike. I will start using DBX as well. One of the reasons I bought this virtual pinball system after having sold mine years ago was that it was built and working with more recent software and hardware. I didn't want to spend too much time fixing things this time around, just wanted to play virtual pinball. I did install Future Pinball which wasn't there and got it working with PBX, easy with the info here. Then, WRT version of PBX, I had a good working system with 1.x but wanted to get Pinball FX3 working and integrated and had some issues. In trying to install the latest version of PBX on Windows 7 SP1 I kept having problems. Some of the underlying requirements like .NET versions and flash ocx registration error or something, just kept stopping me. Somebody mentioned having 4.13 which has FX3 integration on a similar setup as mine and it being solid for them. I simply wanted to get back up and running again so I tried that and it is working very well now. As of now, things are mostly running very well. I was able to get Zaccaria Pinball up/running through PBX last night. Thanks to you and Joyrider and others of course. I just need to figure out why Zaccaria Pinball isn't completely exiting out when EXITing a game and start another one. Hoping after that's figured out, my family can get back to playing some virtual pinball. I don't mind the journey really, but want to play.
  13. I tried Database Manager very briefly when I tried to get the latest version of PinballX running on my cabinet. But I was focused on major issues making things work with my displays. Once I went back to version 4.13 of PinballX and finally got things working on Windows 7 I haven't gotten back to it yet. I had my Database XML files and Media all ready to go for FX3, VP and Future Pinball. I understand Database Manager has a bunch of abilities though. Is this a good time to get back to that? Will it work fine with 4.13 files? Looks like it could possibly help me find media files. Also could setup some games lists, which I want to tackle once I get Zaccaria up and running.
  14. I did find all of that good data out there and am planning on using it to get things moving. I'll download Joyrider's videos and do the ffmpeg suggestion you gave to see if I can get what I need too. Thank You
  15. Thanks Mike. I will give this a go!
  16. I believe Pinball FX3 direct tables launch is now working for my system too. This place is GREAT, thanks for all the great content!! Just started a new thread looking for Zaccaria Pinball Table Images for PinballX. I need that working next.
  17. I can't seem to find any table images for Zaccaria Pinball for PinballX. I found the nice set of Backglasses and Wheel images on the ftp site, thanks to those folks!! Is there a set of Table Images somewhere? Thanks, D
  18. Well, I finally figure the display issue where the backglass wouldn't show up on display 2. To review, 3-screen setup. Windows thinks 0,1,2. With the previous version of PBX that worked great, 0=playfield, 1=backglass, 2=dmd. Upgrade to a later version of PBX, not so much. Without spending too much time detailing everything .... the only way PBX works right now is (inside of pinballx.ini), playfield monitor=0, backglass display=0, dmd display =2. Then set the offset for the playfield as x=1920. Saw something similar in another post and tried making some adjustments in my ini and it worked. WTF? Well, who cares, it's working!!! Don't question it I guess. I understand apps may sometimes get different display numbering than windows, but PinballX now thinks display 1 and 2 are a combined display space. Wish I could get about 8 hours or so of my life back.
  19. By the way, Mike, thanks for all of the good info! Can you point me to the Joyrider launcher you mentioned? I can't find anything about that. If I could get that working with my existing setup and not upgrade PinballX quite yet, that would be good. Thanks
  20. Sorry, decided to take a step back on this. Just couldn't get the display issues resolved and decided not to chase it any longer as I had tried a few of versions of PinballX. I think between Windows 7 and PinballX later/latest version and leftover files from install/uninstall I began circling the drain and it was getting worse. Went back to my clone drive and going to start over with the older version of PinballX. Everything works well in this version, something from a numbers of years back, like from 2015. I really only want to upgrade to make it easier to integrate Steam Zaccaria and FX3 into my PinballX config. I can launch them fine through Steam, but prefer to have one front end. Next week I'm going to give it another go though. The other things I found was it seemed like I needed to go to an older version (but newer than what I'm running) of PinballX since I'm running Windows 7. I kept running into installation issues with the latest one. I know there is no support of those older versions but I'd like to run one that installs easily and simply allows the Steam integration. I may try the Joyrider Launcher mentioned above to see if it'll work with my current config first. Thank you for the input and for not being forthcoming with some of the config files requested to try and help me!! I was heads-down trying to figure it out, probably doing the same things over and over expecting a different result .... dumb.
  21. Hi guys, thanks so much for the help and the pointers. I'll be using the advice over the next few days. One issue when I did the PinballX upgrade was with the Backglass Images being displayed on the DMD display (display #3) behind the DMD Image. This has never happened before. When I launch a table in Future Pinball (the only pinball software I have configured thus far) the Playfield (display #1) and Backglass (display #2) display probably and play fine. I'm not using any of the special DMD software with FP yet. If I disconnect the DMD display the Backglass Images display fine on Display #2 in PinballX. I have tried a bunch of things that I have found on the forums, but nothing seems to be working. Disconnected and reconnected all the displays, reloaded PinballX again. I have redone the PinballX ini file many times based upon advice I read for others trying to fix this. Tried redoing the display settings in there all kinds of ways. I'll try and attach the latest ini file, but it just seems like it should be more obvious. I'm at a loss on this. It only seems to affect PinballX. I do not want to reload Windows 7! Help ... ??
  22. I purchased a used virtual pin cabinet (3 screen setup, including DMD) and it works quite well. It had FX2 and Visual Pinball 9.x. when I got it. I have since added Zaccaria Pinball and FX3 via STEAM and Future Pinball. I may add VPX later, but I like the tables I have now. I'm trying to get the two new STEAM components to work with the older PBX and just keep having issues. Most of the data I find has to do with the later version of PBX which has support for FX3 and possibly Zaccaria directly launching. I have decided that instead of continuing to try and fix those issues in the older version I would just upgrade to the latest PBX. However, I'm wondering a few things. Some of this may be in some guides which I will be grateful for a simple pointer to those. - Can I leave the current PBX in place for now since it works until I get the later version working? Will the new PBX stomp on existing files/directories? - Is it possible to import any/all of the games directly from the older version? I have a lot of work adding those games into the setup, like media files or xml files, etc. Hoping there is a way to limit at least some of the work. This is the biggest area of help needed. - I'm assuming the new Database Manager is suggested/required for PBX vs the old Game Mgr? Maybe it can help with some of the importation of the older work? Thank You, D
  23. I want to get this working as well, within Hyperpin, but my first thought is to get to work launching a single table. I plan on trying this coming week. If you have any updated scripts or mods you believe I need to start with, please let me know. Not looking to re-invent the wheel ... THanks
