    Pinball

Works fine here in my cab, i'm not sure what problems you have found? My only real criticism is the obvious one of the viewpoint so it's important to be able to run in as high resolution as possible which demands a LOT of processing power especially during multiball or light activity. But you can launch it, exit, map most of the keys for flippers and nudge, Start button etc very easily. Future Pinball also works very well in my cab but of course isn't an emulator. Mike.
  2. Hi guys, I have a v5 installation very stable for some months now, with quite a bit of personal configuration (additional emulators, other programs etc), for example, launching bat files for DOSBOX and other bats for Pinball and new games like Pro Evolution Soccer 5 are launched from GameEx (Pro Evo 5 is really cool, btw, running through SCART output to the living room TV with a couple of wireless PS2 controllers). My question is, can I upgrade to 6.28 without redoing all the personal configuration? One other side question, does the Live upload feature just send screengrabs of any program or game in action? So Pro Evo 5 for example or is it limited to MAME games? A final thought, I did have the idea some time ago to detect when a MAME high score file had changed on the local system and to upload that to a web server, where it would be merged into a 'global' high score file. The merged file would then automatically be downloaded by GameEx, so players are constantly in competitive battles for game high scores with players around the world. Well, it's just an idea. Perhaps if Tom likes it he might be able to make it happen one day. :-) Mike.
  3. Did you get the roms as well as the table files? You need to have the tables in the tables folder and roms in the roms folder under your pinball directory. It sounds like you're loading the tables ok but it's stalling when loading the roms? Mike.
  4. Any power saving options enabled? Mike
  5. Run AutoHotKey, and right click Edit script on the autohotkey icon in the Windows tasktray. In the notepad window, put something like this: F8::SoundSet -3 F9::SoundSet +3 Save the file and on the tasktray icon click Reload Script. Every time you press F8, the volume decreases and increases when you press F9. You can change the keys and the +/-3 value to whatever suits. You should really go over to the autohotkey forum to get more help on this at http://www.autohotkey.com/ Regards Mike
  6. I use AutoHotKey. If you know what 'keys' are pressed when you press buttons or joystick inputs then just map those to AutoHotKey SoundSet commands. Mike.
  7. First thing to try is mame from the command line to make sure you can start it from a dos box. Mike
  8. You definitely need to try MAME on its own and ensure it works without the front end involved. Mike.
  9. If you are connecting the controls via an IPAC interface then you can also program the IPAC to mimic the 5 and 6 buttons for player 1 coin and player 2 coin. Edit: apologies, I missed that you wrote joypad rather than joystick. No IPAC then. Mike.
  10. Hi It works ok launched from GameEx. I created a scifiTable.bat file in the pinball directory, and configured GameEx to run this batch file as one of its External Applications. Inside the batch file I run Future Pinball.exe with /open "tablefilename" /play /exit parameters. Seems to launch it ok, don't know if the controls work yet, haven't tried but I can't see why they wouldn't. Mike.
  11. Hi guys I've been setting up GameEx on my cab after evaluating a bunch of front ends... GameEx clearly met all my requirements, and Tom received my contribution today. I didn't want to ask for support until I send the money Ok, so I have MAME setup and all runs ok. Two questions: 1. I generated the MAME videos (used the option from the GameEX start menu), but a whole bunch are missing, most notably those starting with numbers, eg 1941 and 1943. I have tried updating the gamelist and rerunning the video generator. Is there a step that I missed? The games do work so something seems to filter them out..... 2. When I'm in the weather module, GameEx seems to cut in after a while and start a random game. I was flicking around the screens inside the weather module, but GameEx perhaps thought it was idle? These are very minor issues I'm having - the overall front end was so easy to setup. Thanks Tom! Mike.
