Well. Alls well that ends well. Got all that done. The pbx recorder is very fine! Happy Happy. I just noticed btw Carny that you uploaded the modded roms for haunted house.I couldn't get those to work with JPs VP9 table or the later Night mod. Is there a trick? Or is someone somewhere working on HH for VPX? That was the first pintable I ever played. An arcade in Aviemore, Scotland early 1980s. Must have been brand new. It made quite an impression on me.

Thanks there. I understand, and I'm not too obsessive. Well. I just got done importing all my missing wheel art, flyers etc. I left this one to last. I'd been selecting the table description from the IPDB table list (Second Select option in the game manager) before seeking the art using the import feature. The inverted commas/quotation marks in the IPDB listing do seem to be the problem. I just deleted them. Now working. I'm just glad to find the solution.I feel like Sherlock Holmes now. Ahhh- A Sherlock themed pintable? Hmm. Rathbone, Downey Jr., or Cumberbatch? Now...PBXrecorder with 300 tables. Then I'm just playing for a month I swear!!! Cheers guys.

OK. I found the problem in the XML file... <game name="Chicago Cubs Triple Play (Gottlieb 1985)"> <description>Chicago Cubs "Triple Play" (Gottlieb 1985)</description> <rom></rom> <manufacturer>Gottlieb</manufacturer> <year>1985</year> <type>SS</type> <hidedmd>True</hidedmd> <hidetopper>True</hidetopper> <hidebackglass>False</hidebackglass> <enabled>True</enabled> <rating>0</rating> </game> This entry caused the hang/crash. Not sure how it got like this. Mistype. Well Phew. Nonetheless.

Okay. It seems to be the VP XML that's at fault. If I remove it from the databases folder PBX starts up fine. Would like to find the mistake. My last backup has about 100 less entries. Hmm. So it works fine with the old XML. Back to the clicking?

Hi, The Game Manager won't read my VP XML. It appeared to crash on saving about 20-30 changes, and now has an invalid string/char exception every time it tries to read my VP XML. PinballX won't start anymore and just closes to the desktop at once. Other XMLs for FP, PBFX2 are unaffected and are still readable in the app. I hope the following is helpful. My OS is set to German. BTW the VP XML file itself looks fine. I've attatched it too. Windows 10. PBX latest install. It's been working fine. Help. Hallelujah! Working now! I'm back. What a saga that was. Holey moley. I've done a new clean install of Windows 10 on a nice empty SSD. I'm running the anniversary version (1607 with updates to). It was clear at once how much better the system is running for me. So I reinstalled VPX, FP, PFX2, TPA and got them all working on the new system. Now I've just installed Pinball X and got it setup. All media seems to be working as it should. Awesome. I found one error/oversight in the setup wizard though. I initially had my login name spelled incorrectly. The verify feature at the end then let this pass as okay.It took me a while to workout why the game manager was spinning but doing nothing. It would be good if verify caught incorrect login details and reported it. Should I post this elsewhere? Anyway. Thanks for all the help again. I hope I can return someone the favour sometime. The app does seem to be doing "more" than I expect of it. Although finding all the bits (Table, rom, b2s, media pack) is something of a right of passage, I think the "download all media" feature is def. the civilised way to go and I applaud the man for adding it. I'd like to try a previous version just to see.
-
I think the whole system has gone cockamarroo. If I don't get on further tommorrow I'm going to back up my tables and do a fresh install. I have a gut feeling Win10 will work better with the GTX1050ti though (Is DX12 relevant here?).
-
Not sure what I'm looking for. Seems to be alot of errors and warnings in Administrative (User Defined) and in Protocols for Windows Apps. Some stuff from the Shark Codecs I tried and then deleted. Lots of general stuff Care to take a look? I saved these in English although my system is running in German (and I'm scottish) BerlinPinXSystemEvents1.evtx BerlinPinXSystemEvents2.evtx

Sorry I think I caused a missunderstanding b4. I'm on Win7pro here. I was wondering whether upgrading to 10 might help. Old PC/OS with new GPU is maybe a problem here.
-
I think you could be right. Seems a shame to have to do another clean install when VP10, FP, and PBFX2 are all working fine on 2 monitors but PinballX isn't happy. Could it just be the new download features of the Game Manager? It seams like it's a mixture of codecs and game manager voodoo. I just don't know.
-
Pushing the select menu for a PBFX2 table in the game manager brings up alternately a blank or a an IPBDB list of real tables. What fun.
-
Now the gamelist manager is saying that all the wheel images are missing for PBFX2. All the files are there and were working two minutes ago.
-
Now I put a VP10 backglass video into the VP backglass videos folder and the playfield video stopped working. LOL Maybe I should wipe the SSD and start again.
-
Now it's showing the Marvel Ant Man PBFX2 playfield image for some of the VPX tables. Not even the same folders. No way.
-
Cool...Tom sorted out my membership issues this morning. Oh dear however...I started the game manager and imported media for about 10 Future Pinball tables. Left the game manager and started up PinballX. Aargh. Now none of the backglass videos will show in the frontend. If no video is available and a still image IS then PinballX WILL show that. If a video AND a still image are in their respective folders then I get a black screen. Playfield Images/videos and wheel images are all unaffected and work without a problem. I tried the trick with switching to forced full screen and then switching back to windowed mode but this doesn't affect anything anymore. WTF?
-
Thanks Draco. PS Those wheel graphics for PBFX2 are V: Fine!!!
-
Thanks Umpa. You did mention that above. But I was a bit confused about why that would affect this instance. Are you using the .b2s software in the front end directly or are you playing videos from a folder? Are these two related? I figured that Videos from a folder would make the main menu faster.
-
Wow.That's it. thank you so much for your help. I've got to hand it to you. That fixed this problem. I ran a table in VPX alone using full screen windowed mode and then closed vpx and started up PinballX. Low and behold the backglass videos returned. A bit spooky though; that relationship between the two programs. The games all loaded/played/closed fine. I think the reason I was on forced exclusive was because of low frame rates I was getting/stickyness on some tables. There was some good reason for it. Would be good if PinballX could cope with that setting. I have a feeling the graphics arn't quite as smooth/clear in windowed. I'll have to play around. Now I hope I can pay for that FTP access soon and get all the front end media downloaded. You don't have anything to do with Subscriptions Support do you?
-
Nice suggestion but nope. I swapped it for an mp4. Same problem.
-
Well I tried. Reinstalled PBX latest. Uninstalled codecs. Installed latest LAVs. But I'm getting nowhere. I would be surprised if it's a codec problem because the playfield videos are playing fine on the main monitor. Same file format. But I don't know enough about codecs. How does PinballX play two videos at the same time on two monitors? Is it two players and one doesn't have the codec? LOL It does look as if PinballX/Some plugin is switching off the signal to the other monitor when trying to play the two videos at once. I mean it goes completely black. Also, It goes black at the beginning of PinballX startup whereas the playfield displays a Logo . But as I said, it does show the logo on the backglass screen for tables that have no backglass video file. Just removing the .f4v file from that folder brings this back. The tables all play fine with backglasses working in all the software, so it shouldn't be the NVidia video card settings should it. Hmm... I don't know...Windows 10?

Thanks. Understood. Will do.
