  1. The drive in the PC I used in my cabinet for emulation, etc died. I had a backup of the Gameex folder and am trying to find out if there is a way I can find out the games I had installed for certain emulators when I go to rebuild. For some emulators, I only had the games I played/wanted most installed. From having a look around the folders, Gameex looks to create a database for each emulator setup in data\emulators. The emulator I am most interested in has a DB3 file. When I tried to open this, it prompted for a password. If the file contains a list of games I had installed for that emulator, is there any way to retrieve it? Or is there somewhere else that would have the list of games? I only copied the Gameex folder to another PC and it looks to open okay, but when I select an emulator it doesn't go into the games list. Cheers. Edit: Okay, looks as though I can get it from the map file corresponding to the emulator number in the data folder.
  2. Ah okay. Makes sense. I have now tried putting the Game & Watch ROM names in the Do Not Filter but no luck unfortunately. I will look at setting up MAME as an emulator rather than using the integrated option and see how that goes. EDIT: Created a new folder just for the Game & Watch game ROMs and setup as an emulator. Needed to create my own map file to get the names displaying correctly rather than as the ROM name, but appears to be okay. A little clunky but it works.
  3. Yes, sorry. This is using the integrated MAME configuration within GameEx. Why would I need to create MAME again as another emulator just for those games when they show up in the MAME GUI list, listxml when created, etc? If it's the only way to do it, then it's something I will need to do, but don't understand why they wouldn't show in the main/integrated lists. Is there a doco or something or how to configure as a separate emulator? Though I would imagine it would be similar to the other emulators I've setup.
  4. It has been quite a while since looking at updating anything within GameEx, however upon seeing Nintendo Game & Watch are now within MAME I decided it was time to update. I originally had MAME 0.184 installed and running. I downloaded a merged ROM set for 0.214 along with the extras (snaps, etc). I installed MAME 0.214 to a new folder and set it up and copied the ROM files in, etc. I then renamed my old MAME folder and renamed the new one to match what the old one was. Went into GameEx and did an update. It went through the process of reading MAME game list, catver, etc. However once complete and I go into all games, the Game & Watch ones do not appear. If I exit and run MAME and find them in the list there, they open and play without issue. I've gone into the settings and gone through and turned off any filters and then gone into GameEx and run an update again with the same results. I also made a custom list just for the Game & Watch games and when I go into that it just says there is nothing to display. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction of what I may need to do or what I have missed to get these displaying. It is also making me wonder what else may not be showing up that is new between the versions I've run. And one final thing, is there any update on being able to read in the newer formatted history.xml file? It appears as thought the dat file is no longer produced. When looking through the forums I did see a question about it back in October 2021 but am not sure if there is anything further. Cheers.
  5. Thanks for the reply. Perhaps I've misinterpreted what the 'snap best match' option does. The media isn't mixed up as such. Emumovies only has 1 file for PS1 snaps. I think the snaps in there follow the naming conversion of a different group/set to teh roms I have. Trurip, Redump, etc. I will use a batch renamer to rename the files then go from there.

Do the games work okay through GameBase? I have both GameBase and WHDLoad working okay. Gamebase may be easier to setup within Gameex in the first instance.
  7. Hi all, I have Gameex setup and running well (latest version) with many emulators, however, I am having trouble getting snaps for one particular emulator to show (PS1). It seems to be to do with the way the snaps (gotten from Emumovies) and roms (from elsewhere) are named. The ROMS are named for example 'game1 (usa).bin', 'game2 (usa).bin', etc The snaps are labelled 'game1 [ntsc-u] [slus-01234].png', 'game2 [ntsc-u] [slus-03456].png', etc The only way I can get them to show is if I have the snap named exactly the same as the game. So 'game1 (usa).bin' and 'game1 (usa).png'. I tried removing both lots of text in square brackets from one file (to 'game1.png') as a test with no luck. I'm hoping to find a solution that doesn't involve me needing to go through and rename 1300 image files. Other things I have tried: Toggling 'snap best match' - currently set to yes. Trying different combinations of enabling/disabling the database and 'use database name' options. Hoping someone may be able to assist. If I need to attach anything else that would help let me know. Cheers all.
  8. We have the same marquee! Yeah, haven't even considered looking at something to clean up the ROMs like that. Just started from scratch.
  9. Thanks once again!! Have upgraded my arcade machine PC for the first time in 10+ years. So moving from MAME 0.95 to MAME 0.184 and Mamewah to GameEx. As well as playing around with other emulators obviously. Been a steep learning curve! Is there something similar to Merge Sets in the MAME config page so that selecting a game will then list the different regions, etc of that game? I had a look but there didn't seem to be one there. Though that is getting a bit off topic for this thread.
  10. Thanks for the clarification. So in your game list in GameEx you end up with an entry for each disc is that correct? Would it still work if you put the disc 2, etc links in a subfolder and pointed to them there when configuring SwitchDisc and the discs for each game? Just wondering if it's possible to keep a 'clean' games list.
  11. I realise this thread is quite old but looks to be a good way to handle games with multiple disc. In the tutorial above this, I was just wanting to confirm that a .lnk file needs to be made for each disc of the game? Or is a .lnk file made for the first disc and then the other discs in SwitchDisc point to the .bin (for eg) file?
