Not for nothing. Hopefully you learned something in the process of doing it such that in the future you'll have a better idea of how to fix it in the future. I'll have to check out the new beta build and see if it works for me too.

I'm keeping it online because I like comparing my score and other people's scores to the highest scores in the world. Although I do think some of those people cheat (getting billions of points), but getting a score in the top 100 is pretty thrilling. Plus, Steam has other features like streaming gameplay and the cloud save makes sure all the data will not be lost. Finally, Pinball FX3 promises to have more online functionality and stuff. So I figure I should keep the same set up to be compatible with Pinball FX3.
-
Has anyone tried that yet? Also, Steam support said to post all your concerns here: https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/10/ I assume if enough people complain they will take a look at it. Or not, who knows.
-
I see you don't know. The "niche feature request" isn't related to this. I've been asking for it, along with other users, for nearly a year. Some ability to disable or customize the automatic key presses when loading Pinball FX2 / Pinball Arcade would be helpful to a huge number of people (see: Carny_Priest's comment), not just me. Also, I've never been abusive. Maybe aggressive, but that's the extent of it.
-
Yay for more toxicity. PinballX cost me nothing directly (although a lot in time), but I don't even really use it. This is all for others.
-
That has nothing to do with Steam giving an error message or ways around it. But okay, call me names when you don't understand what is going on.
-
Why? It is based due to an update on Steam and has no relevance to PinballX functionality. If Tom added the ability to remove or customize inputs sent from PinballX based on selection, like I've been asking for almost a year, we would already have a work around. We could have PinballX load a game, say Pinball FX2, and then based on the selection it would automatically send key presses to select the correct game. Completely working around Steam's change. But again no one listens... oh well.
-
Steam customer support directed me to this post as a potential work around and passed my message on to the right department. https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/458604254465948374/?ctp=4#c1458455461489248764 I don't have time to test that at the moment or to see if it would even work with PinballX, but figured I'd pass it on. Hopefully Steam comes up with a way to disable the message in the settings soon.

As I've explained before in the Requested Feature post, I ran into a lot more issues using Other System than I did simply ignoring the automatic key presses. Maybe I'll have to do that with the new bug and just hope it doesn't mess up more. But when it was launching tables it wouldn't format properly and wouldn't allow Autohot Key commands or other stuff.
-
You probably installed them in a non-default directory and it can't find them. I had that issue when I installed Steam and/or Pinball FX2 in a different directory than normal.
-
Another problem is it is really difficult to launch games from PinballX to just default Pinball FX2 or Pinball Arcade itself due to the automatic key inputs it sends. I've asked for that to be removed or an ability to manually edit it specifically in case this happened... but no luck with that change.
-
I think it is related to Steam and an update from that. Apparently it is happening to a lot of users now after the release of ARK: Survival Evolved. I contacted support to see if they could come up with a solution or maybe pass it up for an option in the settings to disable it. But I've yet to get a solid answer.
-
No. It is most likely due to some players accidentally running their games with weird launch options without knowing about it and then complaining that the game is messed up. Now it won't run a game with special launch options without confirmation. It is fine, I just wish there was an option to turn it off in the settings or click "never show this prompt again" or something.
-
Tried the first and I'm about to try the second once all the files transfer. Although I'll have to change a ton of path commands which will make it super annoying. EDIT: Yep, even moving the files didn't work. Anyone else have any success yet?
-
Yeah, never had it either until now. I've seen other people had issues with it in the past but I suspect it will plague a lot of people soon. I wonder if it was due to a Steam update too? I contacted Steam to see if there was a way to disable it in-client (which as of writing I do not believe there is).

When I try to run a game on Steam through PinballX I get a warning error saying "Allow game launch?" which is hidden behind other windows. It does this because PinballX attempts to launch a Steam file with specific launch options parameters in order to load a specific table. Is there any way to disable this and always allow the game to launch? I've tried what I've found online including changing compatibility properties to have it always run as an Admin, reinstalling the game, reinstalling Steam, and more. Nothing has worked though. Any idea what to do?

PinballX Enhancements/Features Requests
Stexe replied to Draco1962's topic in FAQs, Guides, & Other Useful Information
You can instantly go back to the main wheel by setting up a simple script that closes the task when you hit ESC (or any other key) while the program is running. Still waiting for a way to disable automatic key presses though. That's the biggest issue. I wish I could script all the key presses automatically based on what game I load. That way I can have a custom way to automatically go into a specific Pinball Arcade game while not messing with Pinball FX2 or a default Pinball Arcade load. -

Any chance on getting the ability to disable and/or customize auto key presses when loading a game? We're basically in a situation where a large selection of the games don't work because they auto select your starting configuration (like stats in Skyrim PinballFX2). -

That was mentioned before, but when I tried using "Other Systems" I ran into a lot more problems. I forget what they were, but it was much worse than simply having the autokey presses (I think it had to do with the game not properly loading and/or minimizing and with AutoHotkeys not running properly). Either way, it would just be nice to have it set up without auto key presses, or a way to customize the auto key presses without going to "Other Systems." -

Would still love the option to disable auto clicks. I don't see why they are even there for things like Pinball FX2 and Pinball Arcade as it just messes up game selections. -
PinballX Enhancements/Features Requests

That would be neat. Also, it seems on some of the boards allow you to put initials in and others save the last input initials and force you to use them. Any idea why this happens and if it is due to something in PinballX maybe a way to change it? -
"Just so you know Stexe, if you set a system up as a custom system you can do whatever you want with it and PinballX won't send keypresses. You will however need to code some scripts. What you are asking is certainly possible without a change to PinballX though and without me having to add features. I am replying here because you said you were a programmer. So you can do what you need without a new feature in PinballX. EDIT: I see Carny pretty much said the same thing. I just saw that. Reply in that topic if you need help. Thanks. Tom." Since I can't respond to the other thread because it is closed, I figured I'd respond here. Thanks for the info, I should be able to do that. Do you have any example scripts I can look at? I've already created a few of my own batch files to manually close programs that open with PinballX, but would be curious how the keypresses are sent and what scripts you already use. Would be much easier to see existing scripts and learn from that then completely making them from scratch.
