  1. Thanks Tom, that did the trick. I don't exactly understand why, as pacman was also in that box, and it wasnt showing pacman in the same way....but not to worry, its looking good now. Ta.
  2. Hello. I am just modding an Arcade1Up Starwars with Gameex Arcade Edition as the front end, and am having it play only a small number of games. I have started off by only putting StarWars, ESB, and ROTJ roms in the rom folder, but when I do the update list, for some strange reason, its finding those 3 games, but also Splatterhouse ! I have tried it with just one single rom in there, and Update List finds that game plus Splatterhouse. In fact nothing I have tried is stopping it adding Splatterhouse to my games list. I even put "splatter" in the filter in setup, but even that doesn't stop it. Why is it finding Splatterhouse (which incidentally doesnt work, so its not finding it elsewhere).
  3. Thank you. I knew it was there somewhere !
  4. Quick question.. Is there a setup option to prevent the escape/back key from quitting Gameex when it gets to the top level of the menu system ? I have tried to find it but not seen anything. Its something I find that people who come round and play on my cab often do, they press back too many times, causing GameEx to exit, and I have to either power cycle the cab, or go find a keyboard so I can start task manager etc to restart GameEx.
  5. Last year I posted a problem that I had with GameEx not starting after a clean install following a fresh Windows 10 build. I never got to the bottom of the issue, and eventually gave up on it. I never uninstalled it, just left it there not working. Today I have managed to resolve the issue, so I thought I would just post an update here, in case anyone else ever gets the same issue. The original post was here https://forums.gameex.com/forums/topic/24104-gamex-clean-install-wont-start/ Today I had a problem with starting Star Wars Battlefront from a new install, and after loads of searching, I found a fix that resolved the issue for that game, and I thought I would re-try GameEx, and I have found that this has also resolved my GameEx issue ! The fix is as follows : Go to Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features, and Uninstall any installed versions of Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable (only 2013, not the older years’ versions). Make sure to follow the next steps carefully – don’t delete the wrong files by accident! Navigate to C:\Windows\SysWOW64 Delete or remove msvcp120.dll Delete or remove msvcr120.dll Navigate to C:\Windows\System32 Delete or remove msvcp120.dll Delete or remove msvcr120.dll Go to http://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=40784 Download and install both the vcredist_x86.exe and vcredist_x64.exe versions Hopefully someone will find that of use.
  6. I'll see what I can grab, but I will update to the latest version anyway.
  7. Just spotted there's a new release, did this make it into it ?
  8. Thank you Tom. I wasn't sure if I had missed another setting, otherwise I would have put it in the feature request forum.
  9. Hi, this is probably more of a usage question. I have GameEx installed in my two Blast City cabs, one running a vertical monitor, and the other a horizontal monitor. I have the full Mame romset on an SSD in each cab, and I use the GameEx game filter to either "show only vertical" or "show only horizontal", which works a treat. However, I do like to use the "play random game" facility, and I have noticed that when selecting a random game, it doesn't follow the game list filter settings, so a horizontal game can run on the vertical cab, and vice versa. Similarly on the screen saver I am getting games displaying that don't match the filter. Is there another setting for this to stop this happening and force random game to follow the game list filter settings ? Thanks.
  10. Just tried a few more things...and have now given up :-( DISM on /checkhealth and the deeper /scanhealth did not find any issues. Tried changing to windowed rather than full screen (as GameEx Evolution works until you make it full screen) Tried Turning off AV Tried the new release of GameEx. Nothing made any difference. Its not worth me reinstalling WIndows for just one program, so I guess that's that. My gut feeling is that I am probably running some vga card drivers that are incompatible and maybe I am the first to be running this particular combo of graphics card/drivers and using GameEx.
  11. Just a little update.... GameEx Evolution works for me... well at least it does until I try and make it full screen, at which point I just get a spinning windows egg timer circle forever. Nothing gets added to the log though.
  12. Thanks anyway. If I ever get it working, I will update here in case it helps anyone else. At least I don't have any issue in my 2 arcade cabs.
  13. I'm running WIndows 10 Pro 1909 Build 18363.752 There really isn't much on the machine other than Steam, Call of Duty, Office and Visual Studio. I tried 32 and 64bit. both gave me the same errors in the log file. I also tried a couple of the other versions like the arcade edition, but it was just the same, similarly if I try and run some of the other versions like the Lite version the error is the same. I have not applied my licence key Registry entry, but I doubt that would make a difference :-(
  14. Well I have followed the advice to completely uninstall and reinstall + delete the actual folder as well, although I had already tried that several times out of desperation. The installer completes seemingly without issue, then when you opt to start GameEx, nothing happens, just an egg timer for a splt second. The log file I pasted was already the log in its entirety, but I have attached it anyway as requested. The version is the latest download version 16.28. During the install I could see it referring to installing the C++ redistributes and they all seem to be installed (screenshot attached) The latest AMD Adrenalin 2020 V20.4.1 is fully installed. No issues with any of the latest games such as Call of Duty MW. Card is a Sapphire Radeon RX5600XT DXDiag shows DirectX12 with no errors found. Windows Event viewer says : Application: GameEx.exe Framework Version: v4.0.30319 Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception. Exception Info: System.BadImageFormatException at GameEx.M_DirectDraw..cctor() Exception Info: System.TypeInitializationException at GameEx.GameEx.MainForm..ctor() at GameEx.GameEx.MainForm.Main(System.String[]) log.txt
  15. I am having a problem installing both 32bit and the 64bit version of GameEx on my newly built gaming pc. It is Windows 10 64 bit, all latest hotfixes applied. Graphics card drivers all up to date, and Dxdiag showing DirectX 12, no problems found.. GameEx installs, but will not start, doesnt even open, and displays no on screen errors, just nothing. The ini file (attached) is stock/unaltered. The error log shows the following : 16:31:54.19 05/04/2020: --**-- 16:31:54.19 05/04/2020: Error: The type initializer for 'GameEx.M_DirectDraw' threw an exception. 16:31:54.19 05/04/2020: at GameEx.GameEx.MainForm.a(Boolean A_0, String A_1, Boolean A_2) 16:31:54.19 05/04/2020: at GameEx.GameEx.MainForm..ctor() 16:31:54.20 05/04/2020: Disposing Plugins 16:31:54.20 05/04/2020: GameEx is exiting with errors I have tried running in compatability mode, but it didnt make any difference. Anyone got any ideas ? GameEx.ini
