  1. I changed Remove Duplicates to "No" (it was "Auto") and it gave me three more roms (up to 3208). I did locate a thread where Tom says that merged sets don't work with Only Existing Roms option - so I turned that off, and now I'm up to about 7500 total. Tomorrow I'll check to see what happens if I turn verify roms back on now.
  2. Alright, so I ran my romset through clrmamepro again and verified that I'm missing 303 sets. With that in mind, using DazzleHP's settings above (plus no porn, no mahjong, and no casino), after updating the list GameEx showed me 3205 games. I then turned on verify roms to see what would happen, updated the list, and I got 2201 games. But similar to before, most of them are in the beginning of the alphabet. Through the end of the letter G accounts for 2064 of those. So at this point, I'm satisfied to run with verify roms off, but I still don't understand the discrepancy in the total number of games, especially with most of the missing ones being after the letter G for some reason?
  3. I am using DazzleHP's history.dat, and I did Update List. It looks like if I turn off Verify Roms, I have a lot more success - all the games appear, and at least the handful I tried later in the alphabet all work. So is there a problem using Verify Roms with merged sets?
  4. I updated history.dat, and I'm getting the same results. That's interesting though. And I'm running MAME .153.
  5. Hi, I've been having trouble getting all my MAME roms to show up in the list. I've got a full, current, merged, 7zipped romset that checks out in ClrMAMEPro. But in GameEx, I'm missing a bunch of games. If I set verifyroms to on, along with turning off "show only existing games", I'll get 1,447 roms to show up. It looks like most of them are in the beginning of the alphabet too - the first 1,300 or so are up to the letter D. The attached files are from a brand new GameEx install. The only thing I configured was MAME. I got similar results on my "normal" GameEx install, but not quite the same. I don't have any hard numbers, but I know in some configuration on my normal install, I would get only about 400 roms stopping in the middle of the letter C (I think Carnevil was the last one). Anybody have any thoughts on this? Thanks! GameEx.ini log.txt
  6. Okay, I tried out the new version and I'm getting some more strange issues. First, again I was stuck in an endless update loop. The auto-update notification came up, I told it to update, it did it's thing, and it tells me there's another update the next time GameEx starts. I tried duplicating the same issue as above, and I got the same crashing error. So I downloaded a copy of the GameEx installer manually and installed overtop of the previous version - that seemed to work considerably better. The first time GameEx started, nothing about any new updates. Onto the crashing issue. I'm not getting a crash every time I select an emulated game, but I am getting some strange behavior. The first time I pick a game from the list, it gives me either the wrong database information or nothing at all. That happens every time, regardless of what emulator or game I pick. Also when I hit the <back> link, it keeps me on the same page. Clicking <home> does work as expected. After picking a second game (without closing GameEx), everything seems to work fine - no crashing, correct database info, <back> works. I did notice that GameEx does crash if I load an emulator that doesn't have any games available in the list. That and the <biography> link doesn't seem to produce results for the right system, but I only tried that once, so I don't really have any more information than that. I've attached another log, if you're interested in seeing it. Thanks Tom for all your hard work! log.txt
  7. Hey everybody, I've started having an issue recently that's causing GameEx to crash whenever I choose an emulated game. It's not when actually trying to play the game, it crashes with the following exception when I pick a game from the list: 22:34:59.1 1/24/2009: Value cannot be null. I'm not exactly sure when this issue started, as I haven't tried to play an emulated game in the last few months (MAME games work fine). The only other issue that I've had recently is with the last update, GameEx reported there was a new version every time I started up. I manually installed overtop of my previous installation and that problem went away. My best guess is it's something to do with the recently-updated emulator databases, but that's really just a guess. I've had the problem with any kind of system I've tried (NES, Genesis, SNES, Odyssey, anything). Things that I've tried to fix the issue: * Downloading new copies of the databases and manually copying them over * Deleting the EMU_X.dbcache/.dbcacheini/.map files * I've even tried doing a totally fresh install and copying over my GameEx.ini file * Set the emulators to not use any database (at least the emulator that I'm choosing, I haven't gone through and removed all of them at once) Nothing seems to work. The only success I had was after restarting my PC once, I was able to access any games I wanted to - everything worked fine. I quit GameEx and started it back up again, and failure continued. Further restarts didn't cause any more success. I can't figure out why it worked that one time, but it did, and it was strange. Has anybody seen this problem before? I'm not real excited about the possibility of re-doing all my config, as it was a fair amount of work to get everything setup the first time. I've attached my GameEx.ini file as well as the full log. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks! log.txt GameEx.ini.txt
  8. Wow, it is pretty awesome! Thanks Tom!
  9. Hey everybody, this is something that's been bugging me about my GameEx installation for a long time now, and I just can't figure it out. Right before I play a game, the "view panel" screen comes up with the buttons labeled on it for whatever game I'm playing. Totally awesome, except that the button labels always show up backwards. It thinks buttons 1, 2, and 3 are the top row of buttons, where on my actual cabinet they are the bottom row. So I cannot figure out how to change this. It seems like it's related to the theme somehow, but I don't know where to change where the labels show up. Can anybody point me in the right direction? Thanks! Mark D
  10. Okay, I put in the old PluginLCD as you indicated, and it seems to work with no problems - as soon as I hit the "test" button, the LCD lights up and stuff is written on it. I definitely can see it being a pain when you can't really test your code with an actual device! It seems like there should be some kind of software-based LCD emulation/simulation out there or something, no? Anyway I've attached my PluginLCD.ini file. Let me know if I can do anything else to help! PluginLCD.ini.txt
  11. Hey headkaze, this looks like an awesome plugin...unfortunately, I can't get it to do much of anything. I'm trying to use the LCD portion of it with my Crystalfontz 634 20x4 display. After verifying that the connection settings are correct, when I hit the "enabled" checkbox the LCD just flashes once or twice and then shuts off. If I hit the "test" button, nothing happens, but if I disable and enable the "enabled" checkbox, I get the same flashing LCD screen. I downloaded the 1.34 today and the 1.31 last week or so and it's giving me that issue with either version. Thanks, I can't wait to get this working!
