Hi, I would like to update this thread and apply for the IDIOT OF THE WEEK AWARD!!! First of all fixed it.... problem.... setting the start button on my gamepad to open MCE when using the Joy Controller Type plugin..... I insert coin... press start... and BLAMO!!! MCE!!!! My excuse??? Dunno, am trying to find a way to blame some one else... Tom wrote it... though he done too much damn fine work to blame him!! Will blame the other half... she wont read this....!!

I dont get one, well no error as such.... seems to be fine until I run an emulator... makes no diffrence if I close MCE first and just run Game Ex it still happens. Am not at machine now so will get a log as soon as. The front end just closes and puts me to a desktop with a windows error popup. Nothing written to event viewer either!

Yeah, the problem occured sunday afternoon... all was working sat night. I did then try the updated drivers too just to see if that helped!

Got a Media Centre PC.. Ati Graphics Card running latest Gameex. As of sat night, I get an error during Game Ex stating I have an upsupported Graphics Card. Everything crashes and media reloads. Any Ideas???

Yeah am using option 1 Just added -video d3d -noswitchres -triplebuffer To my command line in GameEx.... looks lovely.... may just be me but looks sooo much crisper... and seems to boot faster too!!

Tom helped me out by supplying a new reg key. Which worked first time. Am guessing the process was changed at some point, thanks for the help though guys. Maybe worthwhile checking this thread if you need to do a full rebuild!!!

That was how problem first came about... I had Gameex on a MCE machine running fine for over a year. It was attacked by my wife, well she picked up the keyboard and it was never the same. I did a full reinstall and applied the Reg Hack and nothing!!! Today I installed Game Ex on a diffrent machin and same prob. Have emailed Tom, though I can only imagine how busy he is so I dived in here 2!!!!! Any one got any suggestions am happy to try!!!

Sorry, reg hack works... if I nip in to regedit and take a look the subkey is added etc. So that all seems fine. Have tried on a couple diffrent systems, all of which I am admin of. Was the registration process changed at all???? I registered about a year ago.. if that matters?

I would appreciate any more help with this. I have 3 systems, all having the same problem. One was a rebuild, install GameEx.. run reg hack... Nag Screen Remains. One is Laptop that didnt have GameEx installed... reg hack.. nothing.... One was a unregisterd version... run hack (have checked to make sure not corrupt) and nothing!!!!! Anyone??

Have been running my reg hack like a man possed!!! Also tried changing language but with no success... Did the location that the reg file writes to change?? I did register a while ago...

Hi Tom.... I recently had to do a reinstall of my MCE machine. All up and fine with Game Ex back on there. The only problem I have is I can not seem to get my nag screen to remove (though I have registered and have unlocked it before) Was there something skipped in versions perhaps?? Or did you change the Donation process to encourage new/repeat donations???? Or is my machine scrwed again!!!

First of all, does it work if you try to run the game from Project64 itself... with out using Gameex

nuts.... see, that just makes sense!!!!! Ok, so I will be off renaming files then Hmmmm, 58000 roms and just as many images.... think it's time I cleaned this bad boy up!!! Have just seen the OfflineList program and dat files, any reason why this is no longer supported??

Helloooo, Could some one please give me a quick explanation of how Gameex finds and displays the appropriate image for a game. I am putting together my entire collection of Emu's about 30 dvd's, ALL of which I have now got working!!! What I cant do, is get any images to appear. I have thousands I have amassed over the years.. all in .png or .jpg style. BUT NONE appear, regardless of what I do. MAME screenshots work fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

.NET 2.0 has a number of issues still. If you dont need it (which as a home user you almost certainly won't) then just uninstall it and stick with 1.1. Which works a treat. .NET is supposed to be clever enough to select which version it needs to run the right application.... but it isnt! It creates numerous errors, look under system in even viewer for PerfLib errors. Ditch it.. and be happy.

Just rename them to .avi

I hope no one took what I asked the wrong way.... I love Gameex and thank Tom for all the work he has put in to it. I was asking purely out of curiosity and am sorry if it was taken the wrong way.

May just be me, but I am pretty sure I have just downloaded and run 5.82. Though the details and changes page only shows updates included in verion 5.80 and 5.81. Just wondering if I have some how managed to get even in front of the great Tom himself with his releases )

Would it be possibly to create this function??? I know (or at least I think I know) that mame uses information in the catver.ini??? I am guessing this file is in some way passed to game ex to create the listings/filters. If this is the case would it be possible to have user created ones??? I could dump the contents of the folder to a txt file.. then create a catver type ini file. Or am i WAY OFF?????

This may have been covered and I apologize if it has. Is it possible to Filter other emu roms, ie N64 or SNES in a similar that MAME does it???? Ok, that's not clear... I have thousands of roms that I have to scroll through, in MAME it covers genre, date... manufatorer etc. Is this possible for other EMU's??

Ermmm, am unclear as to why you feel you need MCE at all... Gameex is a perfect stand alone product and should do what you want it to do with out the headache (and i use it so can say that) of mce.

Sorry, am sure this has been resolved already but I have to jump to the defence of Tom who has doen in my view a fantastic job with this piece of software!! If you dont like features turn them off (though it's not often you hear a complaint about to many features!!!) big thanks to tom for ALL the changes made and let's hope it continues.
