  1. I am happy to help in what little ways I can. I'll be trying this out soon. My only request is the inclusion of a simple boot screen with a loading bar only if possible. I've been looking around the net for a plain one and can't seem to find one. My machine takes awhile to boot and I often sit there wondering if it has locked up or not. I'm sure there are some tutorials or specialized programs that make boot logo screens with animated bars somewhere.
  2. I had a similar problem with the SQ snaps from emumovies. I was able to use a version of ffdshow newer than the one listed on gameex.net. It seemed to alleviate the problem and it now plays smoothly. I'll try to see which version I am currently using.
  3. No no no. I mean have a bunch of different demo's in their own category, not just sitting in the Other Games and Programs list in gameex. Are custom menu's available? Can I change the name of "Other Games and Programs" to something else? Can I add categories inside it?
  4. Nevermind I figured it out. I was typing the wrong code in the "keys to send box" I typed [ENTER] instead of {ENTER}. It would be cool to get a whole slew of these and put them in their own category in the main menu with the same configuration options as "External Applications". Namely the send keys option. Is this possible?
  5. Well based on my experience gained from setting up Ultra64 (Killer Instinct 1 and 2 emulator) as an external program I used the "keys to send" function. When I set up Ultra64 I just made it send keys to start the game. Ultra64 did not have command line or autostart options. For this I figured I could just send the enter key to get it to start because that is really all you need to do if you execute "chaostheory.exe" normally outside gameex. Make sense?
  6. I don't know if any of you are familiar with the demoscene. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demo_scene I've been trying to set up a few intros that I thought might be cool to have in my cabinet. I am trying to get one called Chaos Theory to work, you may download it here, http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=25774. I have set it up under the External Programs menu in the advanced configuration program. I've made it pass the enter key to the program to start it. It begins to run but I see nothing on the screen. I have tried setting show desktop off and on. It runs fine outside of gameex. Any ideas?

    Speakers

I installed the cheapest car 6x9's I could find. Lightning audio or something. I then took an old set of 2.1 PC speakers with a powered subwoofer and snipped off the wires of the crappy speakers and wired them up to my new speakers. Sounds great. Very loud. The PC speakers I used have a wired remote for volume and bass, very handy. I did check the impedance of the original speakers before I hooked them up, they were the same as my new speakers. I did have a problem with monitor discoloration and tried bucking magnets. They worked pretty well. There was still a little bit of discoloration in one corner of the monitor. I found a piece of fairly robust sheet metal that was leftover when I gutted my cabinet and just sat it on top of the monitor. That piece of steel shielded it enough for the discoloration to go away.
  8. Yes, I understand that. This is the registry key that TweakUI adds to change the LOGIN cursor. It changes the cursors for the ".DEFAULT" user ie the login screen. If you edit the "Arrow" one and change to something like say, cross.cur (located in Windows\Cursors) and then logout, your cursor will be a cross. The keys for the cursors of the users of the system are located elsewhere in the HKEY_USERS section. This is verified to work for windows xp. It possibly will work for windows 2000.
  9. Tom, I found what registry information is added by Microsoft's TweakUI that changes the login cursor. It adds a new "Cursors" key here: HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Cursors All you'd have to do is set all the paths to the black dot cursor.
  10. I've figured this one out. It might be in the guide, but if it isn't is should be. Go here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloa...ppowertoys.mspx and download and install "Tweak UI." Run Tom's Instant Sheller. After you have that set up exit gameex and hit Ctrl-Alt-Del and go to File, Run. Find TweakUI and run it. Expand the Logon selection and highlight settings. Checking the boxes on the right enables your desktop settings (your black background, and your one black pixel cursor) to be transfered to your logon. Mouse is the one you want, but go ahead and check all the others too. After that's done close TweakUI and restart. Your cursor should now be gone while booting up.
  11. DUHH!!! Thanks for that. I read over it too quickly.
  12. I have several emulators working and i was wondering if it's possible to have video snaps/previews for them like i have with mame. I can't find in the advanced configuration where I would put the path to the videos. Assistance would be much appreciated.
  13. I've been browsing through some screenshots and i noticed that there are play, fast forward, stop, ect. on the top of the screen. I dont have that on my gameex. Do I need MCE for that to show up?
  14. i'm installing it now inside a virtualbox installation of windows xp pro. I'll let ya'll know if i run into any problems
  15. I was having this problem. I ordered bucking magnets from partsexpress and it did help the problem ALOT. Just a hint of discoloration in one corner after i installed them. I found a narrow piece of steel about as wide as the monitor and attached it at about a 90 degree angle in relation to the speakers. This removed all trace of discoloration after degaussing. You must use ferrous metal for sheilding.
