  1. Awesome..... Another question. I have the hard drive from the original box but it is failing. If I can get it booted is there somewhere I can look for my license? I think I remember Tom sending me a reg key for it but I'm not sure any of the email addresses I used back then are valid...assuming I can remember what I used
  2. Thank you very much for the reply. I will get the new box up and running with the version I saved, make up backup and then try the new version and see what happens. Thanks again for the response.
  3. HI All, I built a stand up machine about 8 years ago. I have had GameEx running for that long. I believe the version was 8.17??? I managed to salvage my settings and harddrive content. I have a couple of questions. On the latest version of GameEx, can I install and keep my settings from the previous version or will it be a "from scratch setup"? I bought a full license back then, does that still apply for upgrades or will I need to buy it again. If the original license is still good, where is it's info and can I reregister the latest version with it?Thank you in advance for the help.
  4. Ok...another note in the saga.... I found a backup copy of gameex 7. something. It loads and runs fine. So, is the nvidia gtx400 not a supported piece of hardware? Anyone else by chance have this card working in XP with gameex? Fairly sure it's D3D issue....not sure why...
  5. Thanks for the response Tom. Where in the gameex setup is the 16/32 bit setting? I will run dxdiag as well.
  6. Tried 32 and 16 bit color at all available resolutions. I've confirmed I have the latest DirectX. My restore points are for a much much much older version of gameex. I just paid for and updated the newest version....hate to restore to a 4 year old version but I can try I guess. After reading some, I'm guessing I was using an older version of gameex that used something other than D3D. As I said, I hate to install an older version of gameex when I just paid for the newest version.
  7. I have tried every resolution that is available with this driver set, including 800x600 and higher. I also thought it may have been a problem with the gameex theme or background so I've tried all of them to no avail. The desktop shows fine and I only see errors when using gameex. I have used this hardware with gameex for 4 plus years. Was there a recent update to D3D or DirectX.... maybe a windows update ran and broke something? This machine is not on all the time so it is possible that updates were stacked up ready/needing to install....
  8. Thanks for the response. Geforce GTX400 on a standard television so 640x480 mayabe??? not sure on the tv. I believe i have the latest DirectX but will try to look again Not sure on the TV's color range.

  10. Same error here after upgrading to the latest version.
  11. Thanks for the very informative run down. It makes perfect sense to me. I guess what is bugging me is that it has worked flawlessly in the past. Even spinning it hard. I never adjusted my analog settings either. Also, spinning the ball left or right does not react the same way. Takes off immediately...Only forward and very slightly backward does the problem become apparent. I may replace the shafts and see what happens. On a somewhat related note, is there a "ballpark" number that seems to be a good starting point for the analog settings? BTW....this is a Happ 3" trackball. It is USB if I'm not mistaken.
  12. Thanks for the reply and helpful info. I did indeed know that....haha...it's been a long time since I've messed with my arcade machine... worked flawlessly for over a year. I did adjust the analog settings and it did help. However, it was still not great. After further investigation, it appears the trackball isn't catching on the rollers when rolled at moderate speed. Even in windows if you give the mouse ball a good spin, it stays where its at (stuttering) for a moment then shoots off (almost as if it finally catches). I disassembled my track ball and the rollers have grooves on them and were very dirty. I cleaned them up and it helped a little but I may need to replace the trackball all together or at minimum the rollers. I'll let you know how it turns out.
  13. It is very possible I'm an idiot, but I don't see anything regarding analog settings in Mame32. Still looking however.
  14. Is it preferred to set the sensitivity in the OS, Mame32 or GameEx? Or does it make a difference?
  15. ok. I went into the Mame32 setting and enabled the mouse. I have no clue as to how this was disabled. I also set the default control to SlikStik which is the control panel I have. The only problem now is there seems to be "lag" when using the trackball ONLY in games. Operates fine outside of games. For example, when playing Golden Tee...it pulls back fine but when you roll it forward to swing, it stutters or stops half way or barely swings no matter how hard/fast you roll the track ball. Same for bowling games too.
