yeah, that's exactly what I'm going to do...I think it has the nvidia 6100 gpu onboard and then I'll upgrade if necessary

Thanks for all the help...I think I'll definitely go with a dual core barebone kit...then add a card after I see how it performs if necessary.

The PC I was using in my cabinet has died. I'm looking for something that will run games like Killer Instinct smoothly. I'm looking at a barebone kit with an amd athlon x2 4200+ processor and geforce 6100 gpu. Will this be sufficient?
  4. You were right about the numeric keys...I changed the mapping and now I have rid myself of the BG1 layer disabled deal. However, the mouse enabled in port 1 issue is still there. I have znes version 1.43, but I saw a screenshot of 1.42 that had a section called add-ons. It seemed like it was where you enabled mice, light guns, and the like for your emulator. There is no add-on section in version 1.43 that I can find. So I guess my next issue is how do I disable a mouse or extra device in port 1 in znes version 1.43?
  5. I'm having some trouble with my cabinets joysticks while playing roms in znes. I never had a problem before when I just had a controller connected to the pc. When I move the joystick it works appropriately about half the time. The other half, I get errors such as BG1 layer disabled, mouse enabled in port 1, and extra devices disabled. Any thoughts on how to get rid of these errors and get the emulator to recognize the joysticks as the controllers?
  6. Finally got a cabinet for my gameex maching!! Everything is great...except that a few of the 90's era games run slow. I think my pc should be able to handle them (killer instinct, tekken, etc). The processor is pretty fast, it has a little over a gig of memory, and the video card is an older nvidia (geforce II I think). It used to run the pc version of grand theft auto III without a problem. Are there any settings I can change to get these newer arcade games running smoother? I would appreciate any help. thanks, mc
  7. When running the gameex screensaver, is there a way to bypass the rom disclaimer page (the one that asks you to hit enter or type OK)? Or, is there a way to configure to automatically enter one of those keys when the page comes up so that the game will start? I searched the forum but couldn't find a thread that specifically addressed this.
  8. I remember having that checked off and even selected the controller on the pulldown menu. It wouldn't map it, but I see what you're saying now about the middleman program. Which one is best, and where do I find them? Thanks for the help by the way. MC
  9. I'm pretty new to this so I'm not sure what you mean by what method I'm using with PJ64. I tried to configure a playstation 2 contoller using the input config mode from within project 64 under options.
  10. The tips I got after my last post were awesome, so I hope someone can help me iron out a couple of problems. I'm trying to use a playstation 2 controller with project64 and can't seem to get the configure program to work. The controller works in nestopia, znes and magicengine. When I click on something to change it in the input configure program, it will not accept inputs from the analog sticks, d pad, or buttons. My other very minor problem is that in gamex where emulated games are located (nestopia, etc.) there is no picture associated with magicengine in the menu. Is there a way to manually add a picture of a turbografx to the menu? I would appreciate any help given. MC
  11. Thanks for the help nologic...replaced the corrupted exe with mameplus and it works like a charm!
  12. Ok, how do I replace it...I downloaded this version of mame32 through the gameex setup program. Is there a way to manually replace the exe, or the whole program?
  13. how do you check outside of gamex...I tried the exe for mame32 but it will not open
  14. I really need some help and have tried tips from the faq and checked the forums. The rom paths are set correctly but when I try to load them the screen goes black and then goes back to gameex. I tried the no bezels setting, and changed the command line option about skipping the disclaimer to false. Neither solution worked. I couldn't find anything in the forums about this problem. I chose mame32 as the arcade emulator during setup. I have directx 9.0c on my system. The gameex version on the computer is 8.54. I have already registerd my program and would really like to use this in a cabinet I plan on purchasing soon. I really like the interface you have created but I really need some help in getting this thing working. I would appreciate any help given. Thanks, MC gameex.zip
