Is there any way to get PinballX to launch Pinball Arcade in Portrait Mode? If yes, please point me to the Documentation My Main monitor is rotated to the left (270°). I've set up PinballX, activated Pinball Arcade in the Wizard, started the Pinball Arcade Config Tool and entered Width 1080, Height 1920, the game launches in landsape mode (i just see a small game window in the middle, but not rotated, when i start Pinball Arcade outside of Pinball X. When i launch a table in PinballX, it is exactly the same, but the tables are started correctly. When i rotate the screen with a tool, it works as it should. Do i have to put the rotation tool in the LaunchFirst / Launch After of PinballX or does it have this functionality included? I'm not posting any of my configurations here, as this is the default configuration of PinballX with nothing changed, i'm rather asking for help how to set it up. Thanks in advance!

[APP] NukeLauncher - NukePA for (The Pinball Arcade)
Talantyyr replied to time299's topic in User Projects
Interesting... Hmm, not sure if that's related as my keyboard works fine, but now that you mention it, i've noticed that i wasn't able to re-map the keys in the settings. only mouse buttons were accepted. I'm not using any "controller" for my cab buttons yet, just keyboard attached. though everything worked fine and i could Guess i'll try it on another pc today. And i'll try if the key-remapping works on DX9 version (cause nuke launcher works there). Nevertheless, it'd be a great addition to choose which version (dx9 oder dx11) to launch with Nukelauncher- 252 replies

i wouldn't call that "solved", it's working with DX9 version, but it's not sending any keys but "enter" to the dx11 version. not even ESCAPE button is working here. So far i'll stick with DX9, but i hope this will be upgraded for DX11 soon, as the tables look much better!- 252 replies

[APP] NukeLauncher - NukePA for (The Pinball Arcade)
Talantyyr replied to time299's topic in User Projects
thank you for nukelauncher! I'm currently trying to set it up for pinball arcade, but i have some issues... i renamed PinballArcade11.exe to PinballArcade.exe (backuped the dx9 exe first). On first start, Nuke launcher told me it found ~50 tables. I used your xml file from the website so that seems ok, then i adjusted the path to the xml in the config file. When i want to start a table, e.g. NukePA "Funhouse" Pinball arcade starts, it presses enter a few times until the table selection dialog, then it doesn't do anything for a while and stays at the first element (Addams Family) and then presses enter again. (it doesn't even navigate to a wrong table, so that faq entry on your site doesn't apply). Then it stays at the "START" screen, where i can press enter manually to start the table. (Config entry has set autostarttable to 1) When i press ESCAPE nothing happens. I left all the config entries at default, except screen rotation. Strange thing is, with DX9 exe it doesn't start Pinball Arcade at all after rotating the screen. It does when screenrotation is set to 0. All compatibility options set to "Run as admistrator", i'm running Win7 on my cab. Btw, please add a config entry for the PBA executable, so DX11 can be chosen instead of renaming the files. Edit: Ok, i got it fully working with DX9 executable, but not with DX11. Maybe you have to do some adjustments for DX11 exe?- 252 replies

Sry, i've overlooked this post completely... was too busy with setting up my cab PC this weekend and getting everything to run. Yeah, i was using the internal PinballFX2 function. I can add all my systems - VP(intern) VP9PM5 (other) FP (intern) to a group via the group tool, but not PinballFX2. I fail to understand, what the pinballx.log or my ini has to do with the group management in the GameManager, but ok... However, if no one else has this problem and you can't reproduce it, then it might be only happening on my pc. I don't need a "fix" for this, as i've created the file manually. I think you have tried to reproduce this, as creating a group and adding the PinballFX2 section would only take ~30seconds? Just wanted to point out an ill behaviour i encountered and i thought creating a "bug report" could help out other users and improve PinballX (which is already _GREAT_). If that's not the case, abandon this "ticket", that's fine with me, i have my solution and since it's not reproducable on another system as it seems... w/e

I'd also love those!

PinballX Enhancements/Features Requests
Talantyyr replied to Draco1962's topic in FAQs, Guides, & Other Useful Information
When you scroll fast through your tables you don't really know where you are. You could show Letters, when holding the left / right buttons. Like in Steam big picture mode. Or add a second button to jump through letters, so the magna save buttons could be used for that. -
Sorry for confusing you guys, when i spoke of an update i meant, of course, pinball fx2. So no further support is needed, it's working perfectly with this new direct-launch feature. I don't really understand why this isn't something that should be added to PinballX, but that's your decision. I think it would make configuring PinballFX2 much easier for people. I had a hard time trying to set it up with the grid and discovered the new "direct load" feature after i was done configuring nuke launcher.... *doh* Besides VERY easy configuration, tables load way faster now. It's just awesome. Regarding the guide and the "script exe"... I for myself find it confusing reading something about a exe-script which could be launched and not a word about how to set it up or where it's located. What screenshots do you want? Do you mean i should put together some kind of "guide" on how to use the new feature? As i've said in the other thread, it be much handier, to select the PinballFX2 Table path and be able to select the tables within the game managers "Add Game" function then copying the table names manually from the table folder.
-
Thanks for moving it Though it was indeed a feature request, as you should add the table path to the settings and remove the grid. I went through my "tables" folder in the installation and copied all the table names manually to the gamemanager. That's working flawlessly, but there should be the possibilty to select the tables from the game manager. @slydog / connorsdad: It's very easy, just open the config tool, set "[TABLENAME]" as parameter, disable the launchafter funtion and add the table filenames, like Portal.pxp as Game name. That's everything.

When PinballFX2 is added, it doesn't appear at "select list" when you click on "Manage Groups" in the Game List Manager. No need to attach any files as this is very easy to reproduce. Just give it a try. My Workaround: I've created an empty group, edited the file located at database\groups manually and added the path to the pinball fx2 to it. Now i have my PinballFX2 group, but that should work out of the game manager.

Hey draco, I've followed the official guide. There is a "PinballFX2.exe", located in scripts/pinball fx2, which seems to be something else then the "real" pinball fx2.exe. Very confusing. Look at chapter 4.3.12 at the third screenshot. (page 4-29) But that doesn't matter anymore as with yesterdays update, tables can be loaded directly! C:\program files (x86)\steam\steam.exe -applaunch 226980 "[TABLEFILE]" or <PATH TO PINBALLFX2>/Pinball FX2.exe "[TABLEFILE]" does the trick and no splash screen / table selection is shown. It's WAY faster! Time to update PinballX / the documentation i guess. I already posted a feature request.

Just do it yourself, it's fun. It took me a week setting up ~260 FP / VP / Pinball FX2 Tables for my cab, and my wife and i had great fun selecting the best media for all the tables and hunting down table videos and stuff in the internet which wasn't available on the FTP and uploading it afterwards. (including downloading all the tables of course)
-
Great News, With Pinball FX2's latest updates, tables can be loaded with a parameter. C:\program files (x86)\steam\steam.exe -applaunch 226980 "[TABLEFILE]" or <PATH TO PINBALLFX2>/Pinball FX2.exe "[TABLEFILE]" does the trick. e.g. Pinball FX2 Portal.pxp You can change loading Pinball FX2 tables to the same method like any other tables. With the Tables directory and the selection. No more complicated grid selection / ahk stuff necessary. Best thing about it? The table boots directly, no splash screen / no selection screen. It's way faster!

i'm trying to setup pinball fx2 but just pinball fx2 starts and nothing is selected. there seems to be some files that need to be placed at PinballX\SCripts\Pinball FX2. Namely a PinballFX2.exe and a PinFXKeys.ahk. I tried that from the ftp and they are not working. Where do i get these files ?! In the guide it's described how to add these files but no word about where they can be downloaded :- /

PinballX Enhancements/Features Requests
Talantyyr replied to Draco1962's topic in FAQs, Guides, & Other Useful Information
Please make the table audio loop. It's really annoying that the default audio plays when the mp3 is done Disabled the default (launch) sound, but looping would be still awesome. If you have short table audio files, it's silent afterwards. -
Here you go... I was looking in the config folder for the log... my bad. But i don't think the log will help you. The problem appears in the game manager. No need to start PinballX. I think it has something to do with online import, i'm doing more tests currently. Please just try to reproduce it... EDIT: Ok, the problem is with the online import. - Created a new system - Filled out everything for PM5, doesn't matter if system is visual pinball or custom - Imported a random picture for the wheel art - stopped game list manager and restarted it - Picture is still there, it's copied to the correct folder (Media\Visual Pinball 9 PM 5) - So far everthing is ok - changed to online import - downloaded wheel art - stopped game list manager and restarted it - no picture is shown -> The picture was downloaded to Media\Visual Pinball -> The old, manually added picture from before is still shown in Pinball X. - not ok - disable "Online for Import" again - import a random image for wheel art. -> Overwrite - it's saved in visual pinball folder instead of the PM5. - Old picture that was added first is still shown in Pinball X - not ok Seems that enabling online import and downloading an image once messes something up. This can only be fixed by deleting the game and adding it again. Additional Info. - Add 2 games. Add some random images for the first game without online import. -> it's saved correctly - switch to online import - download something for the second game. -> it's messed up and saved to default Visual Pinball folder. - First game isn't messed up until you click on import. My current workaround: I'm doing the whole vp9 folder on a clean pinball x installation and when i'm done i copy the content of the Visual Pinball Folder to my "real" installations Visual Pinball 9 PM5 folder. Good enough for me, but this should be fixed. log.txt

Thanks for your quick reply! I've attached the pinballx.ini file. There is no log file, but according to the link you've posted, the log file only appears when PinballX crashes (which it doesn't). Is there an prefered way to add PM5 tables to pinball X? Did i do it correctly by adding a custom system like i've described? PinballX.ini

Hi, I've created a system called "Visuall Pinball 9 Physmod 5" at "other systems" to launch the pm5 exe for the pm5 tables. I've selected System Type Visual Pinball. When i download artwork in the Game Manager, the artwork is saved in Media\Visual Pinball instead of Media\Visual Pinball PM5. Thus no artwork is shown in Pinball X. When i copy the pm5 xml to visual pinball folder, the artwork is shown, but the wrong executable is used. When i copy the artwork to the PM5 folder manually, nothing is shown. When i change the system type to custom, no artwork is found online. I think that's a bug? Or am i doing something wrong? Please advise
