  1. Thanks the speedy responses... Sorry Tom and Draco1962, in the future, I'll attach the log instead of pasting and will make sure the gameex.ini is included too. That said, I am working again. RedDog's suggestion to recheck installed fonts pointed me in the right direction. The font was installed and appeared in my font list, but Tom's insistence of the font being the cause made me question the font file itself. I found an different version of the same font (c 90-93) and saw my installed version was newer (c 90-01). I reinstalled using the older version and now everything is again working. Sorry for the distraction. GameEx is hands down the best front-end experience out there.
  2. Hi I cleaned my prior version and did a fresh reinstall. Per an earlier post, I tried reinstalling "HandleGothic BT" font. Made sure my nvidia drivers were updated. I have also included my DirectX diagnostic file. I would appreciate any further suggestions to try. Love the application and appreciate the work that goes into it When I launch, I receive the following: 12:43:41.8 6/8/2017: Using Version 3 Themes Animations 12:43:41.8 6/8/2017: Retrieving resolution setting 12:43:41.8 6/8/2017: Using General Font: HandelGothic BT 12:43:41.8 6/8/2017: Using Title Font: HandelGothic BT 12:43:41.8 6/8/2017: GameEx will try to reduce CPU usage 12:43:41.9 6/8/2017: Initialising Direct3D 12:43:42.1 6/8/2017: Applying GameEx is Loading Image 12:43:42.1 6/8/2017: Setting Resolution to 1600x900 32 bit color 12:43:42.1 6/8/2017: Creating Surfaces 12:43:42.5 6/8/2017: Creating Primary Surface - Full Screen Mode 12:43:42.5 6/8/2017: Creating Back Buffer 12:43:42.6 6/8/2017: Loading graphic Surfaces 12:43:42.6 6/8/2017: Display is running at: 1600x900 32bit color, 60hz 12:43:42.6 6/8/2017: Adapter: Intel(R) HD Graphics 5500 12:43:42.6 6/8/2017: Max texture size: 8192x8192 12:43:42.6 6/8/2017: Available texture memory: -17MB 12:43:42.6 6/8/2017: Initialising Bass Audio Library 12:43:42.6 6/8/2017: Creating Surfaces Misc and Dialogs 12:43:42.7 6/8/2017: Creating Surfaces Volume 12:43:42.7 6/8/2017: Creating Surfaces Arrows 12:43:42.7 6/8/2017: Creating Surfaces GameEXlogo Text 12:43:42.7 6/8/2017: Creating Surfaces Toolbar 12:43:42.8 6/8/2017: Creating Surfaces Toolbar Controls 12:43:42.8 6/8/2017: Creating Surfaces Backgrounds 12:43:42.8 6/8/2017: Creating Surfaces GameEx Logo 12:43:42.8 6/8/2017: Creating Surface Unselected 12:43:42.8 6/8/2017: Creating Surfaces Snaps 12:43:42.8 6/8/2017: Creating Surfaces Menu and List Bars 12:43:43.0 6/8/2017: Creating Fonts 12:43:43.0 6/8/2017: Creating Game Font 12:43:44.4 6/8/2017: Error: Error in the application. 12:43:44.4 6/8/2017: at Microsoft.DirectX.Direct3D.Font..ctor(Device device, Font font) 12:43:44.4 6/8/2017: at Direct2D.Direct2d.CFont..ctor(PrivateFontCollection& FontCollection, String Name, Device Device, Form FormHandle, String FontFamily, Single Size, FontStyle Style, SpriteFlags Sprite_Flags) 12:43:44.4 6/8/2017: at GameEx.GameEx.MainForm.c3() 12:43:44.4 6/8/2017: at GameEx.GameEx.MainForm.RestoreSurfaces(Boolean JustDispose, Boolean NoDispose, Boolean ONLYDispose) 12:43:44.4 6/8/2017: at GameEx.GameEx.MainForm.a(Boolean A_0, Boolean A_1, Boolean A_2, Boolean A_3, Int32 A_4, Int32 A_5, Int32 A_6, Boolean A_7, Boolean A_8, Boolean A_9) 12:43:44.4 6/8/2017: at GameEx.GameEx.MainForm.a(Boolean A_0, Boolean A_1, Boolean A_2, Boolean A_3, Int32 A_4, Int32 A_5, Int32 A_6, Boolean A_7) 12:43:44.4 6/8/2017: at GameEx.GameEx.MainForm.a(Boolean A_0, Boolean A_1, Boolean A_2, Boolean A_3, Int32 A_4, Int32 A_5, Int32 A_6) 12:43:44.4 6/8/2017: at GameEx.GameEx.MainForm.InitDirectDraw(Boolean nodispose, Boolean reinit, Boolean DontLoadSurfaces) 12:43:44.4 6/8/2017: at GameEx.GameEx.MainForm.a(Boolean A_0, String A_1, Boolean A_2) 12:43:44.4 6/8/2017: at GameEx.GameEx.MainForm..ctor() 12:43:44.4 6/8/2017: 12:43:44.4 6/8/2017: It was detected you experienced a DirectX error. 12:43:44.4 6/8/2017: Please note the following for possible solutions to your problem: 12:43:44.4 6/8/2017: 1. 3. Using the rom filters did the trick... thank you!
  4. I am loving the video theme feature of the Gameex Arcade build! Thanks for all you do with the system. I am having problem where certain roms (e.g., gauntlet2p, gaunt22p) that will appear in my standard Gameex build won't show up in Gameex Arcade version. I have the settings between the two mimicked as much as the setup gui permits, and I think I have narrowed the distinction down to the "DisableRemoveGame=True" setting (if I set this to False in the standard gameex build, the issue I am experiencing replicates itself). There is no similar setting in the arcade setup gui (although the setting is the same in the config file). If I add the core rom for the sets (e.g., gauntlet, gauntlet2), they show up fine on the list. I have audited the clone roms and they are complete (and tested as working OK in standard gameex). Is this a known issue at this time or are there any recommendations for testing? I've attached the arcade build ini for reference. Thanks! GameEx.ini
