Okay, so the use database is now working. Thanks! Now, I want to be able to edit the game names (because the "ignore stuff between brackets" option no longer works) and a game info window pops up whenever a game is highlighted in the list (which I don't want), even though the "show game info" option is set to NO. I am guessing that this all happened because I'm now using the database, and that the way to fix it is to edit the database. Is that correct? Also, I don't have MS Access, so what is the best way to edit the database? (I tried Notepad, but there was too much gibberish to be able to see what to change and how.) Thanks!

I've tried using the MAME functionality within GameEx, but failed to get it to function. So, I have had in install MAME as a non-MAME emulator because I have not been able to get Mame to see my toms from within GameEx. (MAME works fine, however, as long as GameEx masquerades as a nonMame emulator.) The problem is that the roms all show up as their unfriendly filenames, and I want them to show as their actual game names. I've tried making shortcut links to the roms and tried various ways of getting that to work. I've also tried simply renaming the roms--but that doesn't work, either. Any ideas? Thanks!

I also discovered that GameEx does not look for title pictures unless it first finds a snapshot picture for the game in question---which is why they weren't showing up originally. Thanks for the help!

Is there a way to speed up the startup time for GameEx? I have disabled just about everything except a few simple emulators--including disabling MAME--but based on what I see in the log file, GameEx still seems to attempt to setup everything regardless. In other words, it appears that disabling items in the config only removes access to them from GameEx---it does not appear to skip those items in the startup sequence. Or am I just out to lunch? Thanks!

What filename does GameEx look for when searching for the title and snapshot files? The reason I ask is this: I have several games setup from a "Other Emulated Games" emulator, with the actual gamestart.exe files located in various folders but with links to all of them located in the designated ROM folder for that "emulator". The links have more readable names than the gamestart.exe files have (e.g. "Pole Position" vs. "polepos.exe"). I then name my title and snapshot pictures as [readable game name].png. (For example, both the title and the snapshot would be called "Pole Position.png" in their respective folders. The problem that I have is that it GameEx is not finding my title and snapshot pictures--or rather, for some games it finds the file and then for others it doesn't. Can anyone provide some insight? Another thing that might be causing problems is this: CustomMAMEFolderPath=C:\Games\Arcade\Mame32\custom_folder The folder that this points to is actually empty. What does GameEx (and Mame) expect to see in this folder?

I switched it back from Game Launcher mode as soon as it choked on finding the roms, so it has been in normal mode for awhile. I think that the "Cannot Load Play List. Check path and filename" in the log file may be giving a hint as to the problem. Do you folks know what it is looking for?

So, I had the roms working and could launch them from GameEx. Then, I switched to Game Launcher mode, and all of the roms disappeared. (I might have made another config change at the same time, but I don't remember making any.) I have done the following: - Checked rom paths. I'm not sure that it matters, but I should note that my CustomMAMEFolderPath=C:\Games\Arcade\Mame32\custom_folder directory is empty. Also, I'm not exactly sure what the MAMEFavoritesini=C:\Games\Arcade\Mame32\folders path is supposed to be pointing to. Thanks!

Thanks for the help! Part 1: The problem was a versions.ini file in my Custom Lists path. Changing the path to a new folder fixed that. Part 2: So I got it all working, including my roms (which launched successfully from GameEx). Then I tried switching the Interface Mode to GameLauncher--and suddenly my roms disappeared again. Switched Interface Mode back to normal, did list update, and they were still gone. Note that my Mame32 is version 101---which is old, I know, but a whole ton of my roms break on the newer version and 101 still allows you to skip the annoying Disclaimer/Warnings. When I launch GameEx and view Mame, it shows game categories .001, .002, .003, through .101 before it lists my actual games---and those categories list a ton of Roms, while I only have a few. (I have the list option checked to only list actual roms.) Also, it shows my actual categories as Custom - [Folder Name] based on the different folders that I have it looking at for my roms. Is this normal behavior? The system doesn't want to attach my config file, so I have pasted it below. Thanks!

I'm a newbie, and there may already be an easy way to do this--but here is my request: 1) For external applications, the Setup Wizard only has 50 slots. Since I have over 50 non-emulated games to add, I need more slots. 2) Provide an easy way to re-order how the applications show in the menu (which appears to be based on their slot number in the Wizard). Going back to the Wizard and taking everything out of one slot and moving it to another slot would be a royal pain. 3) While I'm at it, it would be nice to be able to change themes without having to move or copy all of your snapshots to the new theme Media folder.
