  1. All, Here is the latest update to the issue I am having. Steps taken since last post: 1. Uninstalled Gameex, deleted the directory, reinstalled Gameex but copied the original Gameex configuration file. 2. Performed general housekeeping of configuration based on results of Setup Verification feedback. (based on feedback from tthurman) Did not see any major issues here. If I run Gameex it still will not load the gamelist. If I select an emulator from the list the list of emulators goes away but is not replaced by the list of games. Instead the list of emulators appears once again. The same holds true for Mame. If I select all games then the list of selections goes away but then reappears as with the list of emulators. The list of games never appears. This is true of every emulator. It will however show of listing of recently played games and I am able to run them from these menus. If I run Gameex Simple Mode I am able to select games from various emulators and play them successfully, Am also able to play music as well. I have attached the following files: GameEx.ini. Log - GameEx, the log file after running GameEx in regular mode. Verify Setup text file containing the results of the last run of Verify Setup. Log - Simple Mode, the log file after running GameEx in Simple Mode. Is anyone able to explain the difference between GameEx and GameEx Simple Mode that may shed some light onto why I am not able to view games in GameEx but am able to view and play games in GameEx Simple Mode? As always any feedback would be greatly appreciated. GameEx.ini log - simple mode.txt log.txt Verify Setup.txt
  2. All, I have a bit more information. In addition to being unable to enter a listing of the games for Mame or other emulators I am also unable to see a listing of the movies that I have available. If I run GameEx Game Launcher Mode I can enter the listing of available games for Mame and other emulators as well as the listing of the movies that I have. The interface and features are a bit different when running Game Launcher Mode versus running the regular GameEx application. I'm assuming this was the intent to address a demand for different functionality. I have not run Game Launcher Mode previously and am unfamiliar with using it. Anyone aware of what the difference would be between Game Launcher Mode and the regular application that would allow me to see these listings. Has anyone else seen a similar issue of not being able to browse the listing of available games or movies? Thanks!!
  3. Draco, I've attached the GameEx.ini file as requested. Thanks for looking into this, I greatly appreciate the help. If there is anything else you need from me just let me know. Thanks Again!! GameEx.ini
  4. Hi All, I'm unable to pull up a game list, mame or otherwise, from the GameEx interface. When selecting mame or an emulator from the list within GameEx it simply goes back to the list of emulators without displaying the list of games for me to choose from as it normally would. If I choose a game from "Last Player", "Most Played", or "Favorites" the emulator will start and the game will play normally. Basically just am unable to get to the game lists. Today I updated to the latest version of GameEx 14.48. Couldn't find anything on the website that indicated this could be a revision issue. I built this arcade cabinet a few years ago. It has been a couple of months since I last used the cabinet but all was well at that time. No modifications to the cabinet, PC, or configuration other than the update today. Not sure if this is related but...during the course of troubleshooting I did see in the log file that none of the control panel paths were valid. They all referenced the "C:" drive versus the "D:" drive as they should. I "think" these were all configured correctly before. It took a couple of iterations but was finally able to correct this issue. Initially I was unable to make the correction stick using the Wizard so I tried editing the .ini file. This was overwritten when I restarted the application. Ultimately I was able to complete this modification within the Wizard and it is now good. This may just be noise due to a misstep on my part. Other than the Control Panel Path issue nothing in the log really stood out to me. There are a few media path issues but I'm not aware of these creating the issue I am having. I've attached my latest log file for reference. Any insight or assistance would be greatly appreciated. If I have missed the blatantly obvious then my apologies in advance. Thanks!! log.txt
  5. Thanks "stigzler"!! I've viewed the "Blip" cabinet several times in the past....very sweet build. If I do come across a solution for my cab I'll be sure to pass on the details. Thanks for the input!!
  6. Thanks to "tthurman" and "RIP-Felix" for the responses...wasn't familiar with "MAME Hooker" or "Marquee Magician". Came across the cabinet examples above as well as a few more...there are some really sweet looking cabs out there!!! The only thing of value I cam across regarding hardware is a LG LCD Stretch LCD located here. The aspect ratio is good and the price for the refurbished unit is relatively low, at $300, compared to the other options I have found. Actually came across a cabinet that used this display but am unable to locate the associated video at the moment. Unfortunately, the size of this display is too wide for my cabinet by 5". It is roughly 30" by 12". Hopefully it might be an idea for someone else looking into the same modification. Should anyone come across a good hardware solution for a standard size cabinet please feel free to PM me. Thanks again for the help!!!
  7. Hey Folks, Wanted to inquire if anyone has installed a LCD Marquee on their cabinet. Currently I am running Gameex, of course, with around 25 to 30 emulators at this time. In the examples I've located online it appears everyone is using it to display marquees associated with an active ROM running in MAME. When not running MAME it seems that most default to a static display. Had a few questions if someone has gone down this path with Gameex: 1. The cabinet I have is an old (really, really old) arcade machine that I gutted and rebuilt. (technically it is for my wife) The current marquee is 7" by 25", I believe this to be a standard size. Were you able to locate a LCD display that could fit this footprint? I've attached a picture of my cabinet for reference, please see below, forgive the poor image quality. 2. To drive the display was a relatively average video card sufficient? The current machine I have has a i7 processor running Windows 7 with 8 GB of RAM. The SATA ports are tapped out with (3) 4 TB HDDs and (1) SSD that is for the OS. Not sure if this would have any impact but am including it just in case. 3. Did you run into any major obstacles configuring the display to operate within Gameex? 4. Were you able to change the graphic being displayed when switching between emulators other than MAME? Any shared experiences would be greatly appreciated. As always, greatly appreciate any feedback, and the time of those who submit, as this forum has been a tremendous help in improving my cabinet. Thanks!!!
  8. Thanks for the responses!! Draco1962 I've sent a PM as suggested. My apologies if this was the wrong area to address the issue. Thanks again for the help!! Gundoid
  9. Hey Folks, Got a question regarding Gameex registration. Started using Gameex in July, purchased the registration, and have had great success configuring emulators and getting everything operational, absolutely love it!! My arcade cabinet has been running Windows 8 and I have a total of four (4) hard drives installed in the PC I'm using. Tonight I removed the hard drive the OS was located on, installed a Solid State Hard Drive, and then installed Windows 7. Afterwards I re-installed the additional hard drives, minus the original OS hard drive, and all was well. After getting the PC back up and running I assumed I could install Gameex on the new hard drive and repeat the registration process from the original e-mail I received when I purchased the registration in July. That didn't work as the response to the hyperlink selection in my registration e-mail pointed out my registration had been completed previously. I still have a copy of the Gameex directory from my previous install. Has anyone else ran into this? I did a but of searching in the forums but was unable to turn anything up in short order. Admittedly it has been a long night and I may have missed the blatantly obvious, forgive me if this is the case. I've not included my gameex.ini or log.txt files assuming that these would not be relevant with this issue. Thanks in advance for all responses and to the many posts in the forums that have provided great help along the way!!! Gundoid
  10. DazzleHP, That was it!!!! Thank you for taking the time to respond. It is greatly appreciated!!!
  11. Zero Dreams, Gave it a shot but turns out my setting for "Skip Intro" is set to "No". Thanks for the response!!
  12. Hey Folks, Just started using GameEx two weeks ago, after having used Hyperspin for about a year previous, and absolutely love it!!!! Incredible Front End to say the least. I've configured several emulators and additional features, which are working very well, but for some reason am completely unable to get an Intro Video to play on start-up of GameEx. My intro sequence of button indicators, controlled by LEDBlinky, operates but only what I believe to be the default Intro Video plays. I've performed the following steps to configure the Intro Video: 1. In Setup "HTPC/Multimedia Settings" > "Video/Movies Settings" > "Startup Video/Dir" I've entered the path of "C:\Assets\Intro". 2. Placed file "Start.avi" in the directory "C:\Assets\Intro". 3. Confirmed that the video will play outside of GameEx. 4. During the course of troubleshooting I've tried adding the name of the video file, with and without the file extension, in the path mentioned in item 1 but no joy. 5. During the course of researching forum posts found a reference to a "-quick" parameter that may circumvent the Intro Video. Located this parameter in the "Launch.bat" file and removed it but no joy. I've attached the "GameEx.ini" and "Log.txt" files for reference. If I am overlooking something very simplistic my apologies in advance. Have read numerous posts and revisited the settings multiple times but am missing it. Thanks in advance to all who respond. GameEx.ini log.txt
