I'd be happy to help out with some testing as well... I just downloaded the 1.60 WinUAE the other day... So it will give me an excuse to play around with that too

Yeah, to run any custom/homebrew software on the PSP you do need to flash it with a hacked / custom firmware. I think that the first point of call is searching google and reading up on custom firmwares for your PSP. (like "how to install PSP custom firmware") Find out what firmware you are currently running. Search google to then see if people have managed to flash that version without any additional hardware/UMD's and what the success rate is. There are a lot of guides available and most have links to all the files you need. If you have found the emulators for the PSP then you are probably just around the corner from the custom firmware downloads. Definitely read up on the modified firmwares... If you decide to go ahead with it then follow the instructions to the letter. Make sure your PSP meets all the pre-requisites and download all the files that you need before starting. Oh... and btw... Theres NO chance of GameEx being ported to the PSP

Hey guys, I use vanilla self compiled mame through gameex and Mameui or mameplus if I'm just testing stuff in Mame. When I updated my set to 0.129 I found that Mameui was marking all of the neogeo roms as not working... But the do work fine. I just had to fire them up through the "all games" list instead of the "available" list. I only checked on a few places online but seem to remember a "fixed" neogeo bios for mameui... probably unofficial. I didnt follow up any further though because like I said... the games do play fine for me. EDIT: Here's a quick forum link to read... It really might just be your neogeo bios file

Hey HeadKaze, You are on to it man Renaming as avi is the solution. All Hunky Dory now. Thanks for that... Maybe this should be put into the FAQ... Until Tom gets a chance to fix the FLV association. I'm happy with the K-Lite pack... It does everything I need and isn't overly bloated... At the end of the day its ffdshow doing a lot of the work for me anyway. The only files I use are divx/xvid, dvd, flv, mov and the very occasional mkv.
-
Hey guys, Just wondering if anyone has used any of the Emumovies flv snap packs with GameEx. I was using an incomplete set of the avi files which are working fine. I downloaded the latest complete release 0.128 flv pack but am having issues getting them to play. Using GameEx v9.98... Have the latest K-Lite codec pack installed (4.7.5) and the vids play fine through WMP. Windows is also able to create thumbnails for all the files too so I dont think that any are corrupt. My games list just doesn't show any sign of the snap. I did try to remove the extension on one of the files and then I get the first frame showing as a snapshot image. I have removed and re-installed the codec pack... Tested the avi's again and they are fine... The flv's just dont show Any thoughts? Cheers

Good on ya Tempest Now if only you could get something like this a lot cheaper: LCD Panel Would be just about perfect ratio for marquees and an easy mount onto a cab

Hey all, I just noticed that Gamebase Amiga v1.6 has been released... Also WinUAE v1.50 was released last week... The guys at GB Amiga were waiting on this before they released V1.6. I have not had a chance to test anything yet and will not until Wednesday (Bloody work ). Will have to see if anything has changed that will affect HK's loader... Hopefully not.

Yeah, I have been running it for a while... But I had been using a program called Antz Movie catalog before that so could import my old db... Its always been pretty gradual update, add maybe 50 movies in one go... just an hour every few to six months I cannot remember all my recent movies... so I may just start from scratch... fresh start... Been looking at possibly downloading / ripping trailers for each movie as well so now could be the time to do it. Any idea if that could possibly be worked into this plugin? So Gameex would also be able to show the trailer
-
Cheers for that Stu... Yeah, I use Collectorz to catalog my movies too. The only thing is, I lost my recent DB after a HDD crash Now I gotta go through and re-add everything from the last 6 months... or start afresh. Anyway, I'll definitely make use of this when I get my DB sorted

Hey Chriss... The files need to be named under the Gamebase Amiga naming convention (as opposed to the No-Intro) If you goto the Gamebase Amiga site... Downloads section... Extras... There is a Dat file for the SPS games. Use Clrmamepro (or romcenter) to rebuild your sps files with this... Hopefully most of your games will be picked up by the dat and you will then be able to use them. Gamebase Amiga does not contain EVERY game though so you still might end up missing some. Note: Make sure that when you rebuild... you are creating them in a new folder and it is not set to Remove the source files. Let us know how you get on.

Hey guys, I have not tried it on my cab but my gf and sis spend a lot of time on Ultrastar Deluxe... Navigates with keyboard (your cab stick) and will use regular or usb mics. Buy a set of singstar mics with USB adapter for the easiest solution. Basically it is a decent port of Singstar... You can even convert songs from the singstar discs, including videos.

Hey Guys, Does anyone else have issues with the Kawaks map file not working for "Favourites"? I am using 9.13 and setup and imported WinKawaks config that came with 9.13... The Map file works fine when browsing the WinKawaks list but if I add a game to favourites I get the file name. Ie: In the WinKawaks list it shows - Metal Slug X: Super Vehicle-001 (or 2020 Super Baseball as previous example) If I add to Favourites and then goto favourites list and it shows - mslugx (2020bb as previous example) All my other emulators seem to have mapped correctly to the favourites list

Yeah bro... I just tested diskswap on a few games... (where only DF0 is enabled - ATR... and where all 4 drives are enabled - Monkey Island 2). You just need to press End+number and the disk is always inserted into DF0. I'm just downloading V1.21 to test that out I also found something interesting on a WinUAE beta forum. Posted by Toni Wilen so is a guaranteed source... The new 1.4.6 may have a smart Mouse/joystik detection for port 1... Joystick/mouse autoselection, input compatibility mode: Press any unselected joystick´s button 0 to "insert" it in Amiga port 1 (joystick port) and button 1 to "insert" it in port 0 (mouse port). Same with any unselected mouse except left mouse button = port 0 (mouse port) and right mouse button = port 1 (joystick port). joystick/mouse autoselection, input configuration mode, differences compared to compatibility mode: because you can have mappings to multiple ports, device´s first port related mapping in input-panel is decided as the only port number when doing remappings. When switching, only mappings that have same port number are remapped to new port. Old mappings that already have new port number will be remapped to old port number. Other mappings are not changed. all other devices that are mapped to same port as new device will be disabled only devices that are disabled (checkbox on right side of device name is not ticked) are available for autoselection mouse switching is disabled if there are any "supermouse" mice enabled (Windows mouse etc..) because it would cause total confusion. Rawmouse or catweasel mouse are "safe". I might download and test

Hey HK, I haven't been using the force mouse setting but I just saw that as a possible issue... IF I was to turn the option on... It is there until I go back to the loader to turn it off. It probably isn't even necessary to have a Force option... There are some games that have the "PlayersSim" attribute but also have the control set as mouse ( 5)... ie the Lemmings games Could you also use that in your filter? Ie... Set UseMouse is false when PlayersSim=true AND Control=0 or 1 If Control=5 or 8... The mouse needs to be available... Lemmings now needs the user to F12 and swap over because it is using 2 joysticks (instead of the possible 2 mice) Driveswapper: I personally think that just using DF0 is the best way around this... Have a single key that cycles between the disks in the diskswapper list and always inserts to DF0.Otherwise theres like 80 different possibilities (disk 1 in DF0, DF1..... Disk 2 in DF0,DF3 etc) Would it also be possible to bring up an overlay on screen for a few seconds to say that "Name_Disk1.adf has been inserted" Also, would you be able to cycle through only the available driveswapper entries? Ie instead of all 20 driveswapper fields, just the ones that are populated for this game. Temp files... It seems like it will cause a lot of wasted space if ALL WHDLoad games were to store their files there... WinUAE SaveStates would be a lot better and the user would choose which games they were saving (like adventure, rts etc)... Simple platformers wouldnt usually need files to be saved (except high scores)... But the savestate would benefit those games as well I guess it depends on the user though - I'll just leave the delete temp files on Thats definitely more user friendly
-
Hey HeadKaze, Yeah thats cool... There is a problem with the force mouse setting though... What happens through Gameex? If I set the force mouse then it will be permenantly On until I open the Loader again. Would it be possible to make an on-the-fly control swapper? You could have all games with the Mouse & X-Arcade Left (or whatever you have configured) and then press a key to swap the controller in port 1 from Mouse to X-Arcade Right... For the Temp.uae file... I usually modify my .uae files in wordpad/notepad anyway.... But it does seem like using the temp.uae is adding an unneccesary step. In saying that though, how much re-coding would it take for you to just use the specific.uae's? Its working sweet now, why mess with it? I think it really depends on the userbase... Some people that have never used WinUAE may not want to modify the config. It shouldn't be a big thing to those that know WinUAE because they could open the files directly with WinUAE, make the changes and save. A one key diskswapper would be a great addition... Maybe using "End" as the mapped key. From what I remember, WinUAE used End+number to swap disks. But I don't know how you would keep track of things when dealing with multiple disks and multiple drives. I think maybe if you just used 1 drive (DF0) it would make things easier. A lot of the large multi disk games have been WHDLoaded so there shouldn't be a need to track more than 4 disks. A lot of the 3-4 disk games would support 4 drives anyway so they could all be inserted. It would be very handy for the games that only support one drive... I have come accross a few already (2 disk games like ATR & Zool). Has anyone else found many games where you need to swap disks (specifically where the game wants to use DF0)? A few other maps I would suggest: Taking into account that we are a CAB community, we would likely be using P1 & 2 start buttons and Coin buttons... I am thinking of these from using my control panel which is based on minipac but I have programmed the keys to match X-Arcade. 1 - Usually P1 Start - Map to Pause Break - Will Pause emulation 2 - Usually P2 Start - Map to F11 - Set as key to quit the Loader 5 - Usually P1 Coin - Set as End - (Only if the Diskswapper becomes active) 6 - Usually P2 Coin - Set as PgUp or Pg Dn (I dont remember which is free in WinUAE) - (Only if the Hot Swap Control becomes active) L Ctrl - P1 Button 1 - As in Current Map L Alt - P1 Button 2 - As in Current Map Space - P1 Button 3 - As in Current Map LShift - P1 Button 1 Autofire Z - P1 Button 2 Autofire X - P1 Button 3 Autofire Yeah 4924 Games...As if that wasnt enough, that is only what is currently available in GB Amiga A good place to find any other info on Amiga games is http://hol.abime.net/

Hey Wobbly, Firstly, I tested Zool from adf (Gamebase) and it worked fine. It does take a while to load.. Nearly 2 mins before getting onto the first stage. I played through the first stage and the second loaded fine. I did not use any trainers though... Oh yeah, it also makes you swap disks before getting to the first level. Second, You can grab GB Amiga v1.5 DAT files... http://gbamiga.elowar.com/files/@Main/Dat%...es%20(v1.5).zip Use RomCentre or CLRMamePro to scan your roms and you can make a miss list.

Really is going great so far HeadKaze... Firstly, I made the changes to the original Gamebase Amiga MDB file... in the Games table... Set the filter on the PlayersSim column so that I had all of the 2 player Simultaneous games. Then on the Control column, replaced the 0 values with 1. This left all of the Mouse and keyboard 2 player games as they should be. Used that MDB file to create new Game lists and it all worked a treat. Two player games start up with both joysticks. The only issues with this are: If you use the ADF version of a 2 player game... It will likely have a cracktro and may need the mouse (F12 to get to WinUAE and swap to mouse). No issues though if you have a WHDLoad or SPS version of the game. Other than that there is another thing with the controls config... If I select X-Arcade Left and play a standard single player game it is fine; the left stick controls the player 1 character... If I choose a 2 player game, but only play single player, I have to use the right hand stick to be able to play the player 1 character. Could we alter the config so that the following change is made: From case InputType.XArcadeLeft: if (controlType == ControlType.JoyPort1) { joyPorts[0] = "joyport0=kbd4"; joyPorts[1] = "joyport1=kbd5"; } else { joyPorts[0] = "joyport0=mouse1"; joyPorts[1] = "joyport1=kbd4"; } break; To case InputType.XArcadeLeft: if (controlType == ControlType.JoyPort1) { joyPorts[0] = "joyport0=kbd5"; joyPorts[1] = "joyport1=kbd4"; } else { joyPorts[0] = "joyport0=mouse1"; joyPorts[1] = "joyport1=kbd4"; } break; This way, most of the games will have Player 1 always set to the same stick/same port... The joyport0 will be the one that changes between mouse & stick instead of everything swapping around. And lastly... When I run a WHDLoad game and use my Quit shortcut... It does not delete the temp files. I think WHDRun wants a specific key but the Quit is terminating it... Any chance you could put in a delete of the files in Temp when it quits?

Yeah exactly... Whats the point of an IF statement if it doesn't actually link to anything... Hopefully he shed's some light on it Any ideas on what the control entriesrepresent? 0, 1, 2, 5, 8 In the default Gemus options it lists... JoyPort 2, Joyport 1, Keyboard, Paddleport 2, Paddleport 1, Mouse, Lightpen, Koalapad, Lightgun. Seems to match 0 - JoyPort 2, Everything else 1 - Joyport 1, 17 Games - 2 player simultaneous EDIT: just tested World Cup 90... 2 joysticks worked 2 - Keyboard, 3 - Paddleport 2, 4 - Paddleport 1, 5 - Mouse, Lemmings, Kings Quest, Monkey Island + more Mouse controlled Games 6 - Lightpen, 7 - Koalapad, 8 - Lightgun. Games like Skeet Shoot EDIT: The DB lists 757 Simultaneous games... Not just 17.... Seems that the Control=1 needs to be set for PlayersSim=True EDIT2: The 17 games seem to be ones where the original made you use Port1 as the Player 1 port.... (not Port 2 as Player 1 and Port 1 as mouse/P2)

Hey HeadKaze... I have tested about half a dozen 2 player games in Gamebase Amiga... I have my default gemus set to X-Arcade Left. Each game seems to be resorting to the "Else" config... Only using the left stick and mouse... I swapped the If and Else statements over and got 2 joysticks going....... However, this would affect ALL games so you would be stuck for those with need for a mouse. I tried setting the default Gemus settings to Joyport0 & Joyport1 but no change - still just picks the else statement I had a looksee on the GB Amiga forum and found this post: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=26369 See what you think but here is my take on it: For 2 player games (where both are playing at the same time) the DB will need to be modified so that joyport0=joy0 -{or kbd4, kbd5 for X-Arcade }- joyport1=joy1 -{or kbd4, kbd5 for X-Arcade }- Then the main cfg (default gemus script) will need the following changes: Remove the IF and Else Statement and replace with Set_CFG_Value(%dbpath%\GameBase Amiga.uae||joyport0||%joyport0_value%) Set_CFG_Value(%dbpath%\GameBase Amiga.uae||joyport1||%joyport1_value%) Set_CFG_Value(%dbpath%\WHDLoad.uae||joyport0||%joyport0_value%) Set_CFG_Value(%dbpath%\WHDLoad.uae||joyport1||%joyport1_value%) The problems are 1 - Selecting only the 2 player games - but should be OK with the filtered data in the database (just modify those that have the PlayersTo =2) 2 - Entering the correct control method into these (joy0, joy1..... kbd5) Please have a read through and a think though before you make any changes... I wouldn't want you to follow this if there is a more elegant solution

WHDRun (Hopefully Amiga WHDLoad games from Gameex)
DamageCase replied to DamageCase's topic in General
I'll definitely be keen to help out in testing... I have the complete KGWHDLoad set..... and have nearly all of the adf's & ipf's... In total I'd have well over 95% of the playable games anyway. Just let me know when its ready for testing Oh... I won't be around from 6 feb till 14 feb.... Going to Aussie to see Iron Maiden (and a holiday) Wobbly... Do you mean that you haven't found any SPS/IPF's or that you have them but they don't work? -

Just regarding the SPS files... I just downloaded GB Amiga's SPS dat file and it does not have the multi disk games in one zip file (it uses seperate zip's for each disk). Then the DB file just has an entry for the boot disk of each game (Disc 1 or occasionally 0)... Sets the number of floppies and a floppy type (-1, 0, 1). I'm not sure if it is this setting that tells Winuae to add the consecutive disks..... I could be completely off the ball with that setting. Anyway, Is it any easier that the disks are individually zipped? -

Hey HeadKaze, Awesome news man... Thanks heaps for the time you are putting into this. I'm sorry that I missed chipping in for the WHDLoad license (I've been back at work so missed out on my "net time" the past few days). If theres anything else you need for the project I'd definitely like to contribute. I too am an oldskool Amiga junkie... I grew up with a Speccy 48K, then C64 and then my Amigas... The Amiga just has the fondest place in my memories and I still play its (emulated) games nearly as much as anything new. Your wrapper really could open up the Amiga to the arcade community... The configs that have always been required on a per game level are just too much effort for those without Amiga experience.. Gamebase is an awesome tool with no doubt a HEAP of work put into its database; but it just doesn't fit quite right (especially for a cab). Thanks again dude.... And dont be so modest, I only stumbled on the data in the db file... You are the one making this all work -

DamageCase replied to DamageCase's topic in General
So you have found the rest of the info HeadKaze? Just in case you haven't: Firstly Filter the Data column so that you only have the WHDLoad fields available (remove the boxscans, instructions, etc.....) Then you can see for each game, the data that you pasted. But that is only the first line in the data. If you select and copy the whole field then you will get the extra parameters that I pasted (UAE config). Hope that makes it clearer (But I'm sure you are already looking at that ) So do you think that this could work? -
Cheers Nologic.... I think I was just being a bit silly... I tested winkawaks full screen on my PC.. Then installed on the arcade and tested in windowed mode :-s Anyway, I found that the setting that needs to be changed is: Video \ correct full screen ratio \ stretch to full screen All of the blitters seem to work and triple buffering does too
-
Hey Guys, I have installed this into GameEx with WinKawaks v1.59. It runs great but I just have one issue. It kicks off in Full screen mode but I get a flickering border "window"... That is I get the windows info (prog name....... minimize/max/close) showing on the screen and it flickers. It actually seems to be alternating on each screen refresh - If I keep pausing then I can see the window as normal and then no window. The game runs fine but the border - especially the flickering - is a little distracting. Has anybody else experienced this? Any ideas?
