  1. Ah, yeah. So that's the only solution? I guess it will do. Hyperspin really does what I'm trying to emulate here, with the selected menu entry in the middle rather than the bottom: http://puu.sh/ffjQh/bf868baf1a.jpg I'm hoping that Evolution has that capability, or perhaps there's still something I can do to achieve that effect.
  2. Hey all, One thing that bothers me while using GameEx is the fact that, while the highlighted item is at the bottom of a list, I can't see the next item on said list. Here is a screenshot to better show what I mean: http://puu.sh/fdH0P/c58934efdf.jpg Currently my cursor is over Shinobi; however, there are more items down that list. It's impossible to know when I've reached the end of the list and when there is another game that I can't see. I've tried several themes and they all seem to use the same menu system. Is there a way to use a vertical list like that but keep the cursor in the middle and scroll from there so that I can always see what's coming up? Or anything that solves my problem would be fine. I have tried the different viewing styles and I really only want the scrolling list.
  3. I just got Shovel Knight on Steam, and I'm very tempted to kick something off of my list for it. I only just started, though. I'll wait until I finish before I make such a big decision
  4. Sure wish I could relate to my parents through video games like that. My mom is almost completely computer illiterate, and my dad stopped playing video games very early on. When I ask him what his favorite game memories are, however, he remembers his NES. His favorite game on there was Dr. Mario. He remembers clocking so many hours into that game that he began to dream in falling pills, haha. He's a doctor now, so perhaps it's fitting. (We still have that NES too, and it works great!)
  5. Admittedly, I played most of those RPGs I listed when I was younger. I had a lot of patience and time for those long RPGs. I can still do it today, but I have a hard time staying faithful to a single RPG. It's a really hard genre to catch up on if you've missed a lot of greats.
  6. I remember going out and getting the guide books for both of those games. I was really obsessed. I think I still have those books. (And yay, I'm not a lurker anymore!)
  7. Oh my gosh, I can't believe I forgot about Golden Sun. Huge memories with those games. My mind flows with emotions every time I listen to any song from GS1 and 2's soundtracks.
  8. Yeah, anything goes. My assumption when I first made my post was video games, but limiting the type of game will only limit the discussion
  9. Awesome! I'm playing it now; thanks for the tip.
  10. Very interesting first choice! I'm going to have to pick that up.
  11. Pinball definitely counts!
  12. Lots of arcade games, and lots of people who grew up in a very different era than mine, I imagine. Several have been listed that I haven't tried yet; I'll have to give them a look.
  13. There are many times when I wish I had lived through the early era of arcade games. I'm trying to catch up now, but I can't imagine it's the same as being there and experiencing the arcade as it was meant to be.
  14. I thought this could be fun. When I meet people for the first time, the first thing I usually ask them is what their top favorite games are. This is a great way to get to know people, find common ground, and talk about what we're all passionate about -- namely, games! I couldn't find another topic like this when I did a search, so hopefully this is acceptable and catches on. So go ahead and talk about your favorite games! I'm going to post my top ten. You can do the same if you wish, or stick to just a few or a couple games that really get you passionate. I happen to be a bit of an RPG fanatic, so most of my top games are classic RPGs. My top 10 in no particular order: Chrono Trigger Final Fantasy 6 Final Fantasy 10 Megaman X Ys 1&2 (Hard to choose between TG16 or PC/PSP versions. They're all good!) Lunar: The Silver Star Terranigma Pokemon Red/Blue (Nostalgia bias there) Xenogears Lufia 2 Most of these are games that I have great memories with and/or affected me in a big way, or that are just plain awesome to me. I could have put more thought into it, and someone might be able to remind me of an awesome RPG that would bump something off of this list. These are all just the first things that came to my mind! If we're talking top series, I can talk about both Megaman and Ys for hours. I love almost every game in those series. So what are some of your favorite games?

    PCSX2 Peeps

GSdx is the best. There are several different kinds, however. You can consult this page to find out which one will be best for your processor: http://pcsx2.net/config-guide/official-english-pcsx2-configuration-guide.html#Gfx If you can support all of them, I believe AVX2 would be the best then. Mine automatically selected the best plugin, so I'm assuming that whatever you default to is the best.
  16. I'd like to mention for future reference that another easy way to find out the AppID of a Steam game is to look at your GameEx log.txt file. As it checks every Steam game, it displays the AppID as well.
  17. I can't figure out how to disable Steam either. Regardless, the long wait isn't happening every single time I try to exit. It's at a point where I really can't find any rhyme or reason as to why it's taking so long. Sometimes it's waiting on exit even when I close after playing for a long time, sometimes it closes right away even if I just booted up GameEx.
  18. I have quite a few uninstalled Steam games in my library; however, the games that are uninstalled are not showing up in my log.txt file. Only Steam games that are installed are showing in the log, then there is that one error (invalid or filtered path) which occurs only once in my case. Also, the waiting is still on-and-off for me. At times I can shut it down instantly even right when I start the program. Other times I may navigate somewhere, try to shut down, and get the long wait. I should also mention that hideOS is still running, according to the log file, even though I have hide desktop set to false in the config file. This does not hide my desktop, however. I thought that may have something to do with the black screen on the wait.
  19. The game I went to on the menu? No. It wasn't even under Steam games. I'll try disabling Steam completely and see what happens.
  20. Things are getting interesting now. I started up GameEx and escaped right away, and it closed almost instantly. This happened 3 times. I then decided to try it again after navigating a few menus. I navigated to a game that had a video, pressed escape, and the problem reoccurred with a good 20-second wait. However, I tried it again after navigating to a video and it closed within a second. Earlier the wait was consistently 15-20 seconds every single time, so something did change. It seems that some times it takes longer than others now, but I really can't figure out any rhyme or reason with my own testing. I've attached the updated log file. log.txt
  21. Negative, though it's possible that my GameEx isn't updating. Is there any way to make sure it's updating itself? Also, when I used the task switcher, I saw that hideOS was running even though I disabled it. That might explain the black screen during the long wait. However, GameEx must still be running while that's happening because videos that were playing keeping playing their sound during the wait to close.
  22. Well, perhaps this is just a normal thing then. At least Tom fixed something out of it. It's really not that big of a deal; at least I now know that it does close instantly after I wait awhile.
  23. It appears that waiting a certain period of time and then closing allows it to close instantly. If I just start up GameEx and try to exit, there's the long wait. So something is trying to happen at startup, but I'm not sure what. Not a problem if I'm using GameEx for a long time, but quite an annoyance if I'm trying to test and configure things quickly as I am now.
  24. The screen goes black and it waits usually 15 to 20 seconds before going back to the desktop. It seems accurate to say that it takes those .4 seconds to reach the black screen. The black screen is not the OS being hidden, however, because I turned that feature off. So that leads me to assume that it must be related to GameEx. Also, if a video is playing then the sound of that video will continue to play until it goes back to the OS. I disabled automatic login/logout of Steam and GameEx Arcade but the problem persists.
  25. Ah, that's exactly what I needed to figure out. Thanks!
