  1. The games are launched by their own individual .bat files, which are named exactly as specified in the db by the Name, GoodName, NoIntro and TOSEC columns (all the same). I have tried deleting the cache files in the DATA dir in GameEx but that doesn't seem to help.
  2. Okay, i added the ini.
  3. Hi there, I created my own .mdb game database using Access, and I'm noticing that when I load up the games list that references this db, it loads very very slowly. It takes several seconds for the game list to load, whereas other, larger .mdb's load almost instantly. This can be annoying because even when the game list is first loaded, when I select a game, and then go back to the games list, it takes several seconds again for it to load. It does appear from the logs that GameEx is using a cache for the database (and I see the dbcache file in the DATA dir), so I'm not sure why things are so slow. Can one of you db gurus maybe take a look at this and tell me what might be going wrong? I've attached the mdb file (zipped) and my GameEx log. Thanks. dos.mdb.zip log.txt GameEx.ini
  4. Thanks for the response Tom. Here's what I tested: Turning off GameExtender: fail Moving emulator path to a path without equals sign: fail Moving roms path to a path without equals sign: fail Moving GameEx installation path to a path without equals sign: success Reinstalled GameEx to another path with equals signs in it and again it fails. So that's the culprit. Perhaps you can't have any special characters in your GameEx installation path. Not the hugest deal, but is that something you might look into fixing sometime in the future? Everything other than launching emulators seems to work for me when GameEx has equals in the installation path.
  5. Whoops, I think I re-edited it after you to make the logs attachments instead of in the post body. Hopefully that's better. I have the same problem with MAME, Nestopia, BSNES, etc. Nothing I've tried launches the emulator. As far as log.txt goes, I'm not sure I'm following your question. log.txt looks like it's created as soon as you launch GameEx. The entry that documents trying to launch Nestopia is appended immediately after trying to access a game, yes.
  6. I'm having difficulty launching any emulators successfully within GameEx. When I select a game and launch it, GameEx minimizes, no emulator opens, and then GameEx returns. I'll be using Nestopia as an example. Nestopia works perfectly fine outside of GameEx. In addition, runitgame.bat also works perfectly fine and successfully launches the game. Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be wrong? I've attached my log and configs. Please let me know if you need any more information. log.txt runitgame.bat.txt Nintendo NES.ini GameEx.ini
  7. A few people have posted about not being able to run Project Tempest from GameEx because it doesn't take command line arguments. Therefore, you can't tell it to load up a ROM from GameEx (you have to manually point to and open the ROM via the GUI). To fix this problem I created a wrapper for Project Tempest that will allow you to pass in a ROM file from the command line. To install simply put ptlauncher.exe (attached in this post) in the same directory as the Project Tempest executable (PT.exe). To configure in GameEx, set the working path to the directory where ptlauncher.exe and PT.exe reside. Then configure the command line as: ptlauncher.exe "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" Finally, you'll have to set the Zip/7-Zip/GoodMerge feature to 'Yes' as Project Tempest doesn't support compressed ROM files. Hence this will only work for registered GameEx users. Let me know if everything works ok. I created the launcher with AutoIt which I've never used before (this was a good startup exercise for learning AutoIt, which is incredibly easy). It should give you sensible error messages if you don't use it properly. However, the timing of the keystrokes sent to PT may be off for some people's machines, so we'll see how it works for everyone. ptlauncher.zip

    Virtual Jaguar

You're right, that was super easy. I'll post the launcher for Project Tempest in a new post. Thanks for the tip.

    Virtual Jaguar

Also, Virtual Jaguar doesn't appear to run on Vista. I think the devs have stated that they won't work on a fix. I've been trying to come up with a way to create a wrapper for Project Tempest, but I don't know the right toolset which would allow me to compile an EXE that executes clicks/commands on a GUI. There must be some clever way. If anyone has a hint on how it might be done, I'd be willing to do some of the legwork to get it done.

    MAMEBak.png

Thanks for clearing that up. Weird that MAMEBak is included with themes when it will never be used (unless you manually rename)

    MAMEBak.png

I can't get MAMEbak.png to display when I select MAME from the GameEx menu. I'm using the Valhalla theme (which shouldn't make a difference, right?) and MAMEbak.png never shows up. Does anyone else have this problem for other themes?
  12. Hey firebrand_x, are the psd files for Valhalla available anywhere? I love the theme and I know it's discontinued, but there are one or two systems that I wanted to make my own backgrounds for.
